The football authorities have always been weak at punishing clubs in the south. Just look back at how Sheff United were treated when West Ham signed Tevez. I would be surprised if Reading got a 6point deduction. If it were Town that did the same we would have got the full 12. Assuming Reading have broken the rules they signed up to last season after being caught out, then the 6 point suspended punishment will be implemented. I think (and hope!) the question will be whether they have broken the overall rules again and therefore get a second punishment on top of the suspended one.

I hope the same, but I don't expect those corrupt people who run football to do the right thing. Have you seen how they run VAR?

Maybe we should be tagging the EFL on Twitter and start asking what deals they're doing with reading and Wigan...they hate that sort of exposure...

So Thursday a huge date for a few clubs!
EFL should announce The Royals 6 pts deduction, our own administration card needs to be either played or shelved (tough one) and whose to say the Wigan debacle has not fully run its course (£7.7m losses for last fiscal year is crippling for them ) plus Sheffield UTD saga will run as will Cardiffs finances and Birminghams on running financial mess.
So many clubs just literally surviving at the moment. And I mean “just” ……falling crowds (forget season ticket holders not turning up this is the floating ones that turn up “when they can” and help weekly cash flows) for most clubs as empty seats on the telly don’t lie!
Interesting week in many many ways ….. UTT

Maybe we should be tagging the EFL on Twitter and start asking what deals they're doing with reading and Wigan...they hate that sort of exposure... I'm not happy with myself in hoping Reading and Wigan get points deducted tbh, because it's mainly the fans who suffer and they've done no wrong. The owners and directors of clubs have to take more responsibility for their actions and I'd rather see hefty personal fines imposed rather than points deductions. Punish the guilty not the innocent.
Nevertheless, as a Town fan and recognising that Readings and Wigans misdeeds have given them an unfair advantage over us (as we've cut to the bone to keep solvent) then we're also a victim, as is every other Championship club. We've lost to Wigan twice and Reading once so far...no points gained while they cheated....It's unfair.
So, now wearing my 'stuff-em' hat...get them both docked 12 points ...cheats !

Read somewhere that Wigan could be facing a points deduction as they've failed to pay their players twice this year. I've just had a little look at their forum and their fans are talking about administration/ fearing the worst. Although I don't think this is going to happen imminently. Got to feel sorry for their fans after the debacle the last time they were relegated from the Championship.

You'd need an abacus to work out just who might be relegated this season....

Football will be the least of our worries You are not wrong there, a lot of families are struggling and won't be able to afford season tickets, but clubs throwing silly money around whilst the majority of clubs are struggling, shows how crap the game has become, the game needs a complete overhaul.

The fact that all clubs need to rely on continual investment to survive/compete at any level is alarming.
Football is broken.

Bottom line.....most footballers are ludicrously over-rewarded when compared to the income they generate for their employers.

If it was a 10 point deduction we’d be out of the relegation zone. Then if Covid made a great come back in the next 2 week we’re safe. Fingers crossed eh?

That's Wigan as good as relegated then. They've got some interesting fixtures left have Wigan. QPR H 01/04. Blackpool A 15/04. Reading A 29/04. Rotherham H 09/05. Could do with them taking all 12 points from them but no wins anywhere else!

Reading saga has gone on longer but Wigan get their deduction 1st. Bizarre.

Wigan confirmed -3 points immediately. ... and possibly more to come at some stage. Why? Would seem extraordinarily unfair unless there's a 2nd offence to take into account - and even then I would have thought they'd both be sentenced at the same time.

Wigan have breached their agreement with the EFL so their punishment is immediate. Reading have breached their agreement with the EFL so they are negotiating a deal. It’s as simple as that!

According to the statement... the owner is now facing new charges that have not been taken into account by the 3 point deduction. Mind you if found guilty and if the club receives a points penalty, probably won't happen until next season.

When teams get points deducted it can invoke a siege mentality and can spur them on, teams have had worse punishments and gone on right runs, hopefully wigan are fkd but dont bank on it.
