Was just thinking this yesterday. Would you consider NW to have had a new manager bounce? I guess we won the first home game but it’s taken a few games to get going Clearly he’s been a successful appointment so far but I’d normally say a bounce was based on a run starting from game 1 We certainly didn't get a "new manager bounce", but then it took Neil a good month to repair the damage done by Buzz. Less of a bounce, more a steady rebuild and recovery. The danger with the "new manager bounce" is that it doesn't last all that long and the team reverts to type. With Neil and Buzz we should've rocketed up the league 🤔

With Neil and Buzz we should've rocketed up the league 🤔 Tbf when Warnock came in most of us thought even he couldn't save us with the state we were in and the games we had left... even though it took a while to put a run together we're now in a much healthier position. Part of that is down to other teams struggling (Wigan falling on their swords, Reading having 6 points deducted, QPR being arguably even worse than us under Buzz) but we've still had to get the results we've got. But we looked dead and buried at the end of January, and we've got ourselves (with a bit of help) into a position where there are at least five clubs looking more likely to go down than us. If someone had suggested in January that by April we'd be 19th, I'd have called the men in white coats to come and take them away.

I didn’t say you did

It seems that Reading are now likely to get yet another points deduction, or even wound-up totally over unpaid tax bills. Total disgrace of an owner. Dai Yongge even had to close down his Chinese football club. Seems Reading are in a similar danger now. "Reading have just been charged by the EFL with failing to pay their players on time and in full, in October and November 2022, and April 2023, and with non-payment of taxes. If the charges are proven, Reading will start the season with points already deducted." "Following the EFL's action, Reading fans groups urged owner Dai Yongge to sell the club as soon as possible, calling his stewardship "an unmitigated disaster." "On 27 June 2023, Reading were served a winding-up petition by HMRC over the unpaid tax bills." www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jun/16/reading-facing-points-deduction-failing-to-pay-players-wages-efl-chargeswww.bbc.com/sport/football/65975518www.bbc.com/sport/football/66031836I'm hopeful Nagel is a good owner / steward of our club, but let's not get too carried away just yet, let him prove himself over the next season or two...

You are right though. Recent seasons have proved that clever spending is more important than reckless spending.

He's proved himself for 10 years at another club!?? Look up Yongge. He’s been a club owner for a long time in China and it looked good for a long time. I’m not comparing the two guys directly at all, merely using Reading and its owner to caution against over exuberance and the typical demands of most fans for unlimited spending and a fast track to the Greedy League and even beyond.

It is the championship though so promotion without being fully ready is always a danger lurking.🙄 I guess with this owner January might be more interesting if we happen to be lurking in the top ten?
