Dean Hoyle's efforts to sell the club are being hindered by Phil Hodgkinson and his shareholding.
One way to solve this problem is to put the club into administration. This must be done on or before 23 March for the points deduction to be applied this season rather than next. We currently have 32 points and by 23 March will have between 32 and 41 with 8 games remaining. Even if we are still on 32 by the deadline we shall not definitely relegated as in theory we could still get to 56!! What then should Hoyle do?
It is important to resolve the ownership situation asap to enable the planning for the appointment of a new manager, player retention list and squad recruitment.
Rather Hoyle's decision than mine! If the process doesn't run smoothly he'll be damned by some if he does it and by others if he doesn't.

I've heard very similar stories today about the administration team (Kroll) playing hardball with Dean over what they want from him.
If we go into admin he can forget getting anything like £30m for the club. He'd be lucky to get 10% of that.
It's an absolute shambles we are in this mess folks.
People bang on about what went wrong and when...Dean selling to his mate who clearly was a high risk was that shitty fork in the road for me.
He had offers on the table at the time and he chose that dumbass then surrounded himself with yes men to vindicate it.

I heard this at work this morning, the whole thing is a shambles. I remember DH saying "he wanted to sell the club to someone who was a proper fan and would be there regular" oh dear what a mess we are in now on and off the field. We can all be judge and jury but now is the time for the fans to stick together, lets hope it doesn't come to this.

I still have Examiner clippings from 2003 up in the loft somewhere. Must dig them out.
I particularly remember a pull-out piece with a picture of Denis Law on the front.

I'm sure that, at the time Potless Phil's businesses went pop, we were told that there was no link between the vehicle that "bought" the club and his day to day ones. If these administrators are dictating what happens in the sale of Town, telling DH that he owes them money to secure the return of the shares, then this clearly isn't the state of play. What a fucking idiot Potless is/was.

Well played, 2 Town fans.

It could all be a very risky ploy to force the pure admins to accept any offer currently on the table. The info about possible club administration seems to have been leaked via a few avenues fairly quickly, almost as though it was done intentionally.Or am I just been cynical.

Last week this wasn’t even a real possibility, now it is and could be the only way to actually sort this mess out.
Don’t forget DH still owns Canalside which someone would need to buy !!
It’s not a great situation at the moment and it’s almost changing daily / hourly,
Never thought I would say this but Administration with points deducted this season would be a far better option in so many ways than to be relegated without admin, obviously to survive in the championship is still the preferred option just looks more and more unlikely.
It would mean a complete fresh start for next season.

This mess was created when Dean 'sold' the club to the only idiot who agreed to pay him the money back he was demanding. There will have been numerous serious buyers who would have taken us on but laughed when Hoyle mentioned the money he wants paying back by the new owners. He then spun that rubbish about wanting to sell the club to a fan/local man. Forget managers, players, that was the bullet that caused this carnage. I know Hoyje has got his cult followers on here who will oppose this but to the balanced Town fan it is obvious.

If we go into Admin, control over the clubs assets, and debts will pass to the independent Admistrators. No doubt some local businesses will be on the creditors list ...but where are the assets ? Cleverly Dean has already flogged the best players and kept the cash ..asset stripped if you like... The Adminstrator will look for interested parties to take over ownership of the club...which might suit potential buyers who might have already been sniffing around as there's no way they'd pay anything like what Deans was hoping for...50p in the £ would be the best I'd think, but more likely half that.. Mel Morris had to write off £125m of debt at Derby, even HMRC settled on just 25% of what they were owed.. Dean is going to take a battering if we go down the Admin road, but it may be PURE/Admin/potential buyers will force his hand ?

Administration is a VERY realistic option as we currently sit. Sorry but VLP Fan Club you are wrong, Admin is not in any way a realistic option while DH is still funding the club, no matter what league we are in. DH will not allow admin to happen and its not even on the cards he will continue to put money in until new ownership is agreed even if it takes a few years. I’ve highlighted some bits in bold that you may want to cast your mind back to. Make your mind up, what is it?

I think the consideration here is that new owners after an admin would have access to ~£35m more in their back pockets than new owners who had bought the club cleanly *and* had settled outstanding (and growing) directors loans as part of that purchase. (( Although you'd imagine that Dean is likely to follow his previous behaviour and make it as easy as possible for future owners to repay loans with a structured repayment plan without largely impacting their ability to invest and support the club in the short to medium term ))

now my memory isn't the greatest, but i'm sure a couple of years back either Phil or DH were telling us about how half the clubs in the champ had huge debts and were heading into admin. that certainly doesn't seem to have come true (the admin bit)

Turns out I wasn’t making shit up…. I never said u were , just thought Hoyle would never do it.
I thought Hoyle would just bite the buleet and pay up, for the shares - but this could be a vechicle to get a takover done before end of the season.

I was going to post about why another thread had been started unnecessarily but having just read the posts I can understand why. Does feel like things are moving towards this direction as a way of ending the impasse/mess.
I have no sympathy for Hoyle or Hodgkinson, just contempt for their ignorance and incompetence, but I feel very, very sorry for all the supporters who have done nothing to deserve any of this.

Does anyone think Dean wants to be in this position? He needed someone he thought would be a safe pair of hands while he was ill, and to be fair Phil made a decent fist of it before his businesses collapsed. The model was to make the club self sustaining with player sales so we didn't need a money bags pumping millions into it every year. If Phil's businesses has stayed buoyant and player recruitment and sale had been better we could have continued on that path.
Hindsight is 20/20. Lots of mistakes have been made and I'm sure if Dean could do it again he would do it differently, including not getting a life threatening illness. In fact knowing what he knows now he probably wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole.

The fact that this is now a serious discussion just shows how badly the club has been run since we reached the cash cow league.
The powers that be should be ashamed, especially after peddling the 'custodian' bollocks year after year.
This would be a disaster for the club, the staff and for the countless businesses left out of pocket.
How can this have been allowed to happen under the watch of people that supposedly support the club? Why wasn't the club sold last season when they had interested parties looking to buy? Selfish greed and gambling the clubs future on promotion can be the only answer.
Fuck the lot of them!

My understanding is admin points deductions appear next season if they don’t relegate you this season. So if we get relegated anyway we’d start on -10? ?

The deadline is approaching - if we do it before then it’ll be applied this year but I’m fairly sure it’s imminent so something would have to be done in the next day or so.
