...but my point was he ended up losing his investments...liquidating the club what would he have gained being as he was the main creditor ? As he is now, whatever he spends he's getting back from new owners, so no grief there...his reputation has been salvaged by most fans..so that's eased the pressure..he's already handed over daily running of the club..all he has to do is write the cheques and keep count of what he's now spending.. I reckon he'll be pretty chilled to know it's all over...(subject to the checks on this consortium)... I believe he’s very chilled, disappointed by what’s happened after the collapse of PH deal, but looking forward to being just a supporter. The people I know who are connected to the deal were very impressed by DH and the manner he dealt with the sale. Hopefully we can return to normality and the new owners , after the ownership tests fulfill their stated commitments.UTT Portgual any hints towards who has actually bought us? rumours of the whitecaps owners?

So, sorry if already covered elsewhere...how long is the anticipated timescale to get the green light from the EFL? portugalterrier Already submitted down to the bodies concerned, anything up to 3 months, but I was told they are hoping for within a month.

Portgual any hints towards who has actually bought us? rumours of the whitecaps owners? None at all at the moment, everything’s tight . All we know is they are based in north America , Hoyle is keeping this tight to his chest. All i know from what i have been told is they have a huge amount of wealth between them .....

Wrong. The 'naivety' is in believing that DH wrote off £40mil out of the goodness of his own heart, when it was quite clearly out of necessity, a necessity that was the sum of his relentlessly bad decision making. So the widespread criticism was, and still is justified. It seems DH finally manouvered himself into a corner. He had 2 choices in the end...put the club in Adminstation and lose all his money, or strike a deal with this US consortium by writing off his loans...either way he was a bust flush but the latter option makes him look better . To a point. Think the way the situation was he will have known full well that the opportunity to get any significant amount of his money out of the club had gone. Ultimately thats because of decisions he made and more than that decisions made on his behalf by the people he employed ( summer of 2018 mainly) Thats just the nature of the beast. Financially in business you live and die by the choices you make. If he'd been totally set on getting money out ( like some like to imagine ) , he could have still done it to a point. He could have sold player assets like Thomas, Nicholls and Camara and taken that money out of the club or taken all sorts of other measures to cut expenditure and saved himself a lot of money in the process. Putting the club into admin would also have got him more money back than the decision hes ultimately made. So yeah, the choice hes made does make him look better.. (though I doubt he gives much of a shit about that anymore)...because hes gone with the decision that is better for the club. And Dean Hoyle loves the club as much as anyone.

Hopefully the new owners will bring fresh energy and we can all enjoy some success together. if this project succeeds then DH will get many of the plaudits going I expect, I hope so.

Hes the best owner this clubs ever had, certainly in the post war modern era. He should sit back, concentrate on his health and be immensely proud of his time owning the club.
Not just the journey he took us on and all those memories, but because hes leaving us in a much better place than he found us,,,even if we end up going down this season.
Ultimately the experience has cost him £40m plus what he could have earned if he'd done something else with that money all along. Despite that, and the crap he gets, I hope he doesnt regret it. Hes left his mark on the clubs history and its been a successful one.

Reading back, there are many bitter posts on this thread. I think a lot of the bitterness is envy and entitlement (yes, I’ve said the dreaded word). It’s a business that, for the majority, goes on with the business members only, doing what they need to do to keep the club running for the foreseeable. The fans are not part of this business and nor should they be. I’ve no idea why anyone thinks they should have some sort of regular update regarding financial matters you aren’t part of. I understand and appreciate the unseen hours put in by some posters over the years, dedicating time to the club. Discussions, plans, events. It’s great and should be appreciated and, yes, that should allow some discussion regarding certain aspects, Canalside, Stadium shares etc. But anyone who thinks they have any right to know anything about the sale, until an official club statement is made detailing it all, well, you don’t have any right.

The Hoyle era did bring premier league football and that should be remembered fondly, many mistakes were made which unfortunately has taken us back to square one, the ride however was a good one and it only cost me as a fan pittance to watch. I hope the new owner/s steer the club away from any kind of financial problems for good. Should be able to with the money they have Good. Sort club out financially then look at a possible PL return within the next 5 years and stay there. I would love for Town to be a club like Brentford, small club, get promoted and remain there on their own merit not from big spending but by having the right people in the right roles on and off field.

It would be impossible to provide an update of a multi million pound deal during the process. There’s so many factors to consider, primarily it could go tits up at any given moment, so until it’s done and signed the right move is to not offer any update at all. That is actually better for all involved, though some won’t see it that way. I agree the fans are probably the biggest part of the culture and life of a football club but from a business perspective, given the size of our fanbase and spend (merchandise etc) I don’t think it’s a deal breaker and in the grand scheme of such a deal I don’t think fans take priority. Hopefully we can move forward, starting by staying in this division.

In reality it’s entirely likely that communicating would put the deal at risk and thus detrimental to the club’s future.

I'm eternally grateful that he bought the club off Davy, who was using it to subsidise the rugby club, and took us up two divisions. I'm eternally grateful that we haven't spent season after season in League One for a very long time in front of crowds consistently below 10,000. I'm eternally grateful that I haven't seen us getting beaten by shitty little clubs like Gillingham, Colchester, Exeter and Carlisle (list could go on) for a long time. The PL seasons were a bonus. I dread to think where we'd be in Ken Davy still owned the club.

I’m guessing Dean has probably lost around 10 to 15% of his wealth (maybe 1% for every year in charge) as a consequence of having the opportunity to run the Club. I’d have taken that if it had been offered. His time in charge has provide me, others (and I hope himself) with some glorious memories and fantastic days out. Thank you Dean. However IMO he’s made mistakes. Had he not he’d probably have left with his debt repaid and the Club, the fans, and himself in a happier place than they all are now. It would appear he structured the first sell off of the Club to Phil in such a way as to enable the debt to him to be repaid. Not only did this not work but it resulted in him pumping even more money into the Club. I hear the clamour for apologies now a new deal is done, but I know sod all about the deal. Were there more than one deal on the table? Did one favour Dean more than the Club or vice versa? Was one most favourable to both? Which did he chose? I don’t know and probably never will. I hear the clamour for apologies now it appears he’s written off his debt, but did he have any other option other than administration? I can’t see he did. However we should thank him for pumping more money into the Club after Phil went bust. He didn’t have to, and if he hadn’t we’d be in a far darker place than we are now. Whether or not he did it because of his love for the Club or because he was clinging to a belief that he might still get his money back we’ll probably never know, but in a sense it doesn’t matter. He saved the Club. Moving forward I hope he still continues to support the Team and shares with us all the good times and the bad times that lie ahead. From one (albeit a bit older) Hecky lad to another I’d happily buy him a pint if I ever get the opportunity, and share our memories of past times. Don't forget the benefits he's enjoyed...free seat at home and away games...lunch/drinks/ guests with him...that must be a tidy sum... bit nit picky I know, but there were fringe benefits along the way... I think paying for the perks would have been a lot cheaper, by a lot I mean tens of millions, and he could have saved himself a lot of grief. Yea, pretty ‘nit picky’.

Being a middling league 1 club that hadnt seen the championship for 7 years. Most gates below 10,000 and some as low as 6000. A first team with a combined sell on value of £40k for Berrett . ( Smithies went for £2m but was still in youth system ) So even if we do go down, thats really not the same club that we are now.

Having started this thread I've been very surprised by the number of posts and pages.
I found the timing of the deal announcement interesting. It was on the final day to enter administration with the points penalty being applied this season.
Was this a factor that focused minds to reach agreement by that deadline? 🤔
