Seeing we are talking about ice cream anybody remember Caddys shop in Dewsbury? It was a real treat when we were kids, fantastic ice cream! Remember it well. Just behind the old bus station. My granny used to take me there and I'd have vanilla ice cream in lemonade. Outstanding. Didn’t they do a version with Coca Cola, called it a Coke float? Imagine asking for one of those nowadays?

Having eaten plenty of chicken in the US im not sure marstons will greatly impress. Would have to be a sunday beef and yorkshires, but I dont even know anywhere in huddersfield that does a good one.. Was it of the swimming pool variety? Chlorinated… 😉

Asking for a coke float might be slightly incriminating these days.

To this day I have never tasted ice cream as good as Caddy’s.

JustasmithersHi mate and welcome. How does Kevin like to be known to his friends? Kev? Kevy? Nages? Because we are all going to be friends when he becomes the owner and backs us 😉 Does Kevin read DATM?

Do you know if Kevin is planning a trip over here this season, justaguy,or will he wait until everything is sorted? I don’t think you’ll hear much from his side until the approval process is finished. Very important to respect it. Unfortunately, over here we only know how to “trust the process” with a clock emoji at the end.

Remember it well. Just behind the old bus station. My granny used to take me there and I'd have vanilla ice cream in lemonade. Outstanding. Exactly the same for me too. My memory of it is identical to yours, that’s what we’d always have, vanilla ice cream in lemonade. Then my dear beloved grandma would treat my brother, my sister and myself to a little toy, like a farm animal or zoo animal from the store next door. The 1960’s…… magical. I still do this in summer and I'm almost bloody 50. Who says you have to grow up

I think its the suit of armour that did it. Also childhood memories, we weren't allowed ham at home (too expensive, only tongue 🤮), Merrie England was a once a month treat. I love tongue. The only problem was telling people that your mum had given you a tongue sandwich and then having to explain that it was not a euphemism. 'Sake Verdammt, fucking half eaten chips sprayed over my desk and I only polished it Friday

Will you be coming over yourself? There's some beautiful scenery in the Huddersfield area & if you're into your English literature, the Bronte sisters were very close by near Keighley. I will 100% be coming over once the process has finished. Very excited You'd be VERY welcome mate. Even if we take the piss out of our brethren from across the pond, it's all (hopefully) done in jest with no hatred or animosity involved. Any piss-taking from me is very much tongue in cheek and just an example of my armed forces upbringing. Used to love the PX in Bremen we used to visit every couple of months, dirt cheap Levis, CDs, VHS (remember them lol), perfumes and the like. We used to wish our army camps were like yours, McDs or Burger King, Bowling Alley, massive PX with a wide range of goods, it seemed like you'd just moved a small US town into a German airbase

Or John Cooper Clarke in Manchester 🤔 What about Captain Picard tho And don't forgot Reece Dinsdale (Home To Roost, ID)and Jodie Whitaker (Doctor Who). Get Kev ( should it be Mr Nagle?) to take the collection tin round Hollywood with Jean-Luc at his side with phaser set to stun

There was talk at one point that Cersei from Game of Thrones is a Town fan. Not sure of the veracity of that though.

Yeah I heard that too 3Pipe but never seen it confirmed so didn't include her. There's also a lass from Footballers' Wives years back (Zoe Lucker?) who had allegedly been seen at the Mac. I only included Jodie Whitaker because I've been told by several people that her and her dad have been to matches.

Massive fan of the show, but didn't click Lena Headey was Geoff's niece until someone pointed it out on another thread a while back.

She definitely went to Shelley College and I think I heard that she lived in Emley at some stage but she might not even like football, so would be at home watching Town

A friend of a friend who's in the US Air Force based at Mildenhall tried Marstons a few years ago and was quite impressed... though he may have just been being diplomatic. I used to love Marston’s Chicken. Been eating it since it opened in the 80’s. To be honest, the last few times i’ve tried it , i’ve found it far too salty. Not sure if it’s my tastes that have changed or they have change the recipe.

Used to go before most games and every trip into Huddersfield for other things (shopping, pub or whatever), hell I even walked from my house in Fartown a couple of times it used to be THAT nice. But the last few times it has been well salty like you say, far too salty for someone who only ever puts it on chips

Lol, was gonna put "puts salt on chips" but I'd already used salty twice in the sentence and my English teacher would probably have a fit at a third usage in one sentence
