Marston's Chicken and Dixon's Ice Cream must be your first 2 experiences.. Brilliant that you managed to get to these two spots Dave... To be fair I’ve only eaten at Marston’s, but Dixon’s will be Thursday or Friday. Also Murgatroyd’s for Fish and Chips tomorrow.

It was strawberry milk and strawberry pieces with ice in the glass and whipped cream on top. Is that considered a proper milkshake here? To us that’s strawberry milk with ice

To us that’s strawberry milk with ice I suppose each restaurant has different interpretations of many dishes/drinks, I wouldn't say that version is a typical 'English' one.

You need to try a proper Sunday dinner now in a homely Yorkshire countryside Pub.

Nothing to it, let’s just do this every week!!! 😂😂👊🏼 How are you going to watch them this year? Asking for myself and lots of other ex - pats.

How much longer you here? You need to get yourself to Destination in Slaithwaite for a curry.

The Chef is a lovely guy too.

Can't believe your fellow Americans were amazed at the size of the fish you got. Some of the comments on your Fakebook feed were surprising to me with the size of the portions my mam and dad showed us on their holiday to Florida. One steak was as big as my frigging head

'Slawit' always seems like a contrivance to me, unless you've got a genuine long-standing connection to the place. Best stick with Slaithwaite (with the short a) if you're from outside the Colne Valley.

Right or wrong (probably wrong), but always pronounced it 'Slough it' myself

How much longer you here? You need to get yourself to Destination in Slaithwaite for a curry.Went there on Sunday night for the first time. Best curry I've ever had, and I've had a fewI was out for a curry last night in The West Island a treat from friends from Cambuslang near Glasgow who are ‘Simply the Best’ and equally so was the curry that they most very generously bought me... It wasn’t in our local curry restaurant but at The BALLYGRANT INN an eight bed hotel in the heart of the island with a whisky collection to actually die for it’s utterly immense indeed and it was a pity that I was driving but sometimes needs must... I had the Chilly Garlic Chicken Curry and it was scrumptious to the actual core - served with lovely fluffy white rice and salad and chipati and a very decent measure indeed... Screachy (Liz) - originally from my old village - had the same and her fiancée Dougie (who is currently battling the wind and rain on The Machrie Golf Links Course) had the Lamb curry which looked amazing as well and all three platters were licked clean needless to say such was the quality and every table was full on the night with tourists which is fantastic for the economy of The Whisky Isle and lovely to see as well... Like yourself Dan, I’ve had a good few curries around The UK especially Yorkshire and Glasgow but this truly was up there with the best from these well known curry capitals of Britain for sure and it’s little wonder that this little gem has won award after award after award and has the certificates proudly displayed to prove this... To cap it all off we ended up in the company of a fella from Leeds who lives in Inverness and was visiting, he is very confident about them going up this season and like the rest sees Manchester United as their rivals (what the actual fcuk given that they are in a different division)... 😆 Of course I took the greatest of pleasure of reminding him that Huddersfield Town are ahead of Leeds on head to head wins ! 😊 👍 I was a sort of dressed last night (not in HTAFC attire as it was a dinner treat) but it’s back to ‘uniform’ tonight with Huddy gear on for a booze up in The Port Charlotte Hotel for a few and then up to The Lochindall Hotel until the wee sma’ hours which will be fun and I’ve the pleasure of hosting Screachy and Dougie in ‘The Huddy House’ (ma house in Town colours) for pre pub drinks and an overnight stay... So yep I’m sure Huddersfield and Yorkshire will be very much in conversation again tonight this time about booze and football but not curry !
