Gonna be a 5-4 or 4-3 this one. That'd be good.

As has been posted elsewhere, I hope Town fans show some class and owe Reading fans some respect. We have no axe to grind with Reading. Not an easy day for them, travelling all that way in sold out numbers for literally nothing. This. Exactly this. The contrast between the levels of class & decency shown by our opposition supporters at the playoff finals of 2017 & 2022 is stark. I'd far rather we emulate the behaviour of our 2017 opponents than the graceless pricks from last year. And as you say, to come all this way for a dead rubber in which you've already been relegated is worthy of respect. Let's show them some.

Squad to pick from:
Ordinarily I'd suggest picking a few promising kids to give them a run out in a meaningless dead rubber - but I'd want this to be a game to show thanks to players who might consider themselves unfortunate to have lost their places in the side. Or players who have worked their backsides off for the cause without necessarily getting the recognition.
Vaclik, Hungbo, Jackson, Rhodes would be my first picks. Maybe Camara & Waghorn as well.
All in all I don't much care about the result. Tactics are irrelevant & preparation for next season is difficult when you've no idea who is taking over as head coach/manager & what ideas they might have. It's an exhibition game for me.

Bumped into a town fan at local coop this morning who was in Spoons at Cardiff last weekend. Seen him quite a few times. Didn’t go last night as he thought we would loose and doesn’t see the point in going Monday now we are safe! Each to their own and all that but this last sentence is just ridiculous. Grow a pair and support your team. End of the day they missed out. But I assume the reason he was in a Wetherspoons in Cardiff was because he'd gone to visit the Cathedral, not gone to the Town match? Or maybe I'm not being facetious and he did go but bottled out again... ;-)

I think there'll be at least half a dozen changes on Monday. It's hardly as though we've any players going for a goal scoring record or anything like that... It was a nervous game last night, but at about 75 mins I was much more relaxed about proceedings. It'll be much more subdued on Mon, unless we go 0-2 down of course...

We need to go all out to win this game, strongest side possible, play with freedom and make that points deduction irrelevant to us,it's not like the players can't have a long rest after it.

I’d like to see Vaclik in goal as think he’s been great for us in the time he’s been here. He looked a bit downcast to me yesterday which I thought was a shame.

The Reading game will be my last home game for some time to come as eventually over the summer I'm relocating to the deep south west. I've never created a match day thread so although it's rather premature I thought I'd make one. My last day at current employer today, been here just short of 35 years. Where does the time go eh? Plymouth here we co0me. My other half use to live in Saltash and only last week hinted about retiring down there.

One of the best - and certainly most important - signings we've made this season. You can't leave out the best keeper in the division if he's available and there's so much at stake, but Vaclik can still count himself unlucky to have lost his shirt. Deserves some appreciation.

We're playing a premier league team and a third tier side in the space of five days in league games, is that a first for us.

Play without the spectre hanging over us? Win the game simply because its there to win. End on a high after a difficult season with hope of better things to come. See Neil and Ronnie off with a win. UTT.. Don't finish the season like the last Great Escape, losing 4-0 at home 🫣

Would like Town to finish at above Reading on merit, if the others win and we don't, all summer it will stayed up cos of points deducted for Reading, draw at least, then it's done on actual points, ain't our fault they cheating fookers tho!.

Whilst I agree in principal that we shouldn't gloat against Reading, their relegation is not our issue. Let's go and win the last game, be respectful but not go overboard in any sympathy for them. Football has its winners and lovers and that's how it is.

Losers and lovers , is there a difference in the end. You get a lover you end up a loser.... when the missus finds out 👊

This would usually be the kind of dead rubber game I'd expect us to lose, but I reckon the players will want to give Neil and Ron the best possible send off. The atmosphere will be bouncing, and the Reading players will no doubt be absolutely demoralised.

Could be the last time we see Rhodes. Any chance he’ll get a start and grab the 3 goals he needs?
