Keep concentrating. 13-1 is a dangerous scoreline! It actually was for Hepworth Reserves in the last game of last season. At home to the second bottom team in the Sheffield and Hallamshire second division (the 3rd of 3 divisions), they needed to win by 12 to win promotion. It was 13-1 with 5 minutes left when they unexpectedly conceded. The final corner kick came in with all 22 players in or just outside the penalty area. The ball was headed out to the player furthest from the goal on the edge of the box and, of course, he coolly lobbed it into the top corner. 14-2 and promotion. I haven't made this up, because you couldn't make it up. In 1994-95's pre-season, Neil said he had them 'almost too ready' for the coming season. Can't remember any of the friendlies, but we started with that 4-1 win at Blackpool and didn't lose away until 5th November.

So a 9-0 and a 13-1, and I chose the 0-0 at Tavistock to go and watch. Exactly same for me mate, I feel your pain. It's like they are doing it deliberately.

They should have nicknamed Town as The Rollers or The Coasters or more aptly The Rollercoasters as it’s either elation or dejection even in the sphere of pre season friendly’s... If we ever redesign the club badge to include a Latin memo then “Boring we certainly ain’t” would be a perfect motto ! In saying that I enjoy the total unpredictability of HTAFC and all the dramas and emotions that they bring to our lives - Definately better than following say Charlton Athletic who seem to be a club who you don’t hear much ado about and I’m sure are a good family club but they and others seem to live a very boring life in comparison to the very colourful one that Town do ! (no offence to any albeit unlikely lurking Addicks) 😉

Minutes into the legs, shit loads of goals, younger lads have had a chance to impress. Tougher test next week against Stockport.

Building up nicely to 3 weeks today then ! - I’ve enjoyed the break from it after that dramatic season but aye - it’s just coming along nicely for Plymouth Argyle on Sat 5th August and it’ll be nice to get back to footy Saturday 🥃 and Suffering Sunday 🤮 in The Whisky Isle once again ! 😊

Very clever of warnock to set up friendlies where we get the opportunity to score some goals. Breeds confidence. I notice how in each game he started with his strongest 11 that was available. Non of this messing around sending half a team to one game and the other half to another. Whoever dreamt up that idea ? It didn’t work.

I actually had a pound on at Billy Hills that we would win 13-1. Got a tip from an old mate of ours, Toffs.

Shush Ted. Didn't you know it's absolute genius picking your strongest eleven and then playing opponents at least half a dozen rungs of the football ladder below you.

The last 3 friendlies were about nothing other getting some match practice in. The next two will be a better indicator of where we are at.

The trouble with these 13-1 wins is the length of time it takes to put the highlights reel together...

Its a squad and staff social bonding trip with some football attached. Neil talking at more length in a relaxed social setting to some of the squad??? Some do assault courses, some go off to Islands to do a survival with Bear course, Neil goes to Cornwall and has a good chat and a laugh.

A week away in the torrential rain practicing on school fields will determine who is up for the fight and who isn't. Neil seems to be very particular with regards to the kind of person he wants in his squad and this will determine who he wants and who he doesn't.

Was it the pre-season before getting promoted to the Premier League that Wagner took the squad to was it Sweden for some ‘sas who dares wins’ type activities?. The Team spirit of course that season was incredible. Team spirit and players bonding cannot be underestimated. It’s the reason why such as Rotherham continually to over-achieve and prove that budgets and having money to throw around on Players and wages isn’t everything.

Interesting interview with NW on the ooh to be a terrier podcast....
• behind closed doors friendly with Accrington on Tuesday • a couple of players have surprised him in a positive way and a couple in a negative way. He'll be looking to move on a couple who haven't impressed him • 2 or 3 players who were left at home last week, will be having talks with other clubs this week • happy with the core of the squad but looking to add more quality although this may come towards the end of the window

I think they all got game time. It may be more with general attitude and training than when they played. It is an exercise in seeing the whole squad in, for Warnock, familiar surroundings but very different for the players. As always I will be glad to see the back of the transfer window.

It’s the reason why such as Rotherham continually to over-achieve and prove that budgets and having money to throw around on Players and wages isn’t everything. I think that team spirit is indeed vital to a club like Town (and Rotherham) and certainly Neil Warnock and Ronnie forged it at HTAFC by the barrowload in our miracle escape last season... 👍 Neil as manager from 1993-95 clearly had plenty back then as well and it clearly stuck all the way down the line from Ronnie back then to the present day - It’s a commodity that will hopefully see a less traumatic season next season at HTAFC with Neil and Ronnie being given the full season in the most unforgiving and competitive environment that is The EFL Championship !

Just got back from a great week in the West Country. Met some great people, nor least Stewpot and I think conman (wished him a good journey home Thursday -seems like that was the kiss of death ,and had a brief chat about his trip to Saltash) ? The Brunel Hotel in Saltash seems a good location for anyone wanting a basic cheap & cheerful, no frills accommodation for the Plymouth match, with three or four other drinking places close by.

It was indeed me artysid (maybe we should wear name badges at away games) . Yes I did think of your "good journey home" gesture a couple of times on the M42 😁.. Glad you enjoyed Saltash , and hope you made it to the pub I told you about.. I'm still not planning on Plymouth quite yet , but things could change..

With the subs bench increasing to 9 in the championship, we might not be able to field a full 20 at this rate. I hope we can start making some movement in playing staff before we run out of pre season games to bed them into the team. Yes theres a while of the window left but imagine this is a race, we are wayyyyyy behind other clubs in preparation it seems. A nervous time ahead.

I took it to mean loan out because I'm guessing it's a couple of the younger players

It seems pretty ruthless but I think we have little margin on the wage budget. I think we’ll want to clear out everyone that’s deemed surplus to requirements and then see how much that gives us remaining. I think we might get one or two in for the first game but I could see work being done until the end of august. I don’t think Warnock needs his players to bed into lots of complex pressing and styles of play so it’s less of an issue than for previous managers.
