A strange thing to say considering he'd over 250 appearances to his name before he came to Town. Maybe I should have said championship footballer. Very clever of you to highlight text and come back with a really inane comment. What's inane about his comment? Perfectly legitimate to me... And - he's right too. 🤷🏻♂️

Very clever of you to highlight text and come back with a really inane comment. I think what's inane is someone who thinks he's qualified to give an opinion on someone's ability as a footballer when he's clearly made a good living out of the game. Next you'll tell me that you've coached Upperthong's Under 12's and are therefore well qualified to give such an opinion.

And yet you comment on my post without reading it properly. Team looks shit on paper as I said in the first sentence. Since when have games been won or lost “ on paper” , perhaps supporting Town is a step too far for you , something more predictable may be better for you. UTT Thanks Einstein for pointing that out. Team looks poor on paper like I said, and low on quality in key areas. Comments from people who attended seem to back that up. I’ve supported town for 40 years so I’m sure I’ll manage thanks. Do you have a contrasting opinion you’d like to share?

UTT Luton team on 'paper' the last 2 seasons didn't look great with the names. I thought they had a decent squad on paper actually, they beat us to at least two players iirc in the last two seasons. That’s why Jones sour grapes were so funny, making us out to be the big boys when on paper their squad was as good, if not better. They had some decent quality and also over achieved imo. We seem to be relying a lot on B team players, most of who have had less than impressive loan spells one or two leagues below. That’s what concerns me along with the likes of Thomas and Koroma who can be inconsistent. Without those two on form I don’t know how we’ll score a goal!! Im sure they must have some irons in the fire, Im not sure Leicester would give that team a kick.

Just watched the B team highlights against Heerenveen. Rhodes really does look past it sadly, even when he is in position he's struggling to convert

How shit must Ward be then when Rhodes scored one more goal than him last season in half the number of starts?

Jeez, how do you expect to be taken seriously. It's a subjective debate and as much as I lean towards preferring Ward now, I can accept it ain't clear cut, whilst Rhodes is clearly going to be remembered more in years to come

And NW does have his favorites so what? He wants guy to give 100 percent. Rhodes pressing is terrible and it could be his physical limitations or could be desire. Neil obviously made the right choice when he came in.

Going back to the original post I replied to and looking at those brief highlight's, do you not think that Rhodes' pressing contributed to the fuck up which led to Rowe's goal? I wouldn't call it pressing, he was practically walking! Don't get me wrong, I don't have any bone to pick with Rhodes. At least he tries and is a consummate professional. But you can't say he's offered us in the last 2 years anything like Ward has in the last 2 years. He can't press, he can't challenge in the air and from the few snippets we've seen recently (yes, B team highlights have had to be resorted to) when he has gotten a half chance or a one-on-one he doesn't seem able to convert like he used to which was 90% of his game. We don't get behind teams on the wings with a whipped ball in for him to run onto and poach in the 18 yard box like we used to during his first stint with us. Now all the play is in front of him, with any balls either going into our strikers feet to hold up, aerial for them to challenge for and win, or the odd diagonal ball down a channel for the striker to chase and then bring someone else in. Sadly this means in games with him playing we have to carry him for the whole game in the hope he gets one or two chances. Which is fine... if he could prove he could still convert them. With Ward, we get a workhorse and it's like playing with 11 players and he brings others in. Would you honestly rather us start with Rhodes up top on his own on Saturday, or Ward?

I went to Warnock’s Town Foundation dinner and he talked about how Ward is a manager’s dream because he works tirelessly for the team and brings the best out in others. Match ratings may say 6/10 but for a manager he’s 8/10 every week. I’m happy to trust his judgement and look at more than the goals tally.

Maybe, he’s that because he sees things that others don’t.. Ward being one of them.
