🥃 🥃 🏴 🏴 🏴 🏴 PLEASE COME TO BONNIE SCOTLAND HUDDERSFIELD TOWN ! 🏴 🏴 🏴 🏴 🥃 🥃 Totally agree Based ourselves in Glasgow 2012. Went to Kilmarnock & Hibs. Great few days. It would be great to knock of two or three Scottish grounds each season. Kev could nip up to one of Trumps golf courses for a few rounds too. Apart from those two, only been to Greenock Morton up there.

I was at the Hibs game artysid - I really enjoyed the whole day and met some great Town fans and still keep in touch with one yet and meet him when I’m down in Huddersfield for games and he’s a top top lad from Golcar and has a lovely family as well ! I’ve not been to a Greenock Morton game but have been to Greenock a good few times and took a wander down to their ground called Cappielow and it truly is an old ‘beauty’ type of ground indeed, a tiny terrace behind one goal, a substantial one being the other filled with benches, but fans can still stand, an enclosure like our old popular terrace at Leeds Road on one side and a quaint little main stand on the other and it had unusual floodlights built into the roofs of the side stands... Greenock is a good day out and you can enjoy a ferry trip from the adjoining town of Gourock across to The County of Argyll and the town of Dunoon ! I’m not sure if Celtic or Rangers would take on HTAFC but Hearts’ stadium (Tynecastle Park) is ranked by many as the best atmosphere in Scotland (it’s really tight) and being born in Paisley and having spent many happy drinking days there I’d like to see Town play St. Mirren and visit their new stadium as I enjoyed a match at their old one at Love St. - Also ma wee maw supports The Paisley Saints so perhaps I could take her there once again !

I can remember Morton spending quite a lot of time in the scottish premier division in the 70's and well into the 80's, pretty much established as a prem club for a spell.

I can remeber Morton spending quite a lot of time in the scottish premier division in the 70's and well into the 80's, pretty much established as a prem club for a spell. Aye they were indeed Sabs - and I used to enjoy watching them on Scotsport and Sportscene when we eventually got the Scottish transmitters around 1981 - along with Match of the Day and The Big Match and the two channels from Donegal we truly were spoiled with footy from Scotland and England and Gaelic football ‘soccer’ and hurling from Ireland on ‘council’ telly back then ! Morton (as they were then) had a prolific striker called Andy Ritchie who was allegedly ‘lazy’ in training but could score so got away with it ! - I think their goalkeeper was an English lad called Roy Baines and another thing that I remember was the goal stanchions were very similar to the ones at Leeds Road which were there up until Town adapted the ‘U’ shaped ones that just hung out from the bar / post junction in 1984/85 !

Greenock Morton won 4-0 away at Queen of the South in my first ever Scottish game in 1967. Palmerston Park (QotS ground) is another classic old ground, decent size, full of character and still with four old-fashioned floodlights in the corners. At that time Morton was a bit of a trailblazer and they had two or three Danish internationals in their side. I’ve been to three games at Cappielow, and I agree with you, it’s just magnificent. Every time I’ve seen Morton they’ve been really good games. The town of Greenock has its rough “schemes” but overall it’s a nice place. Shame grounds like it are so rare nowadays. Brockville (RIP) the old Falkirk ground is another sad loss as is Annfield (Stirling Albion). Not to mention Boghead and Firs Park (East Stirlingshire).

I seem to remember, quite a few years ago mind, that for a while, there was always a St Johnstone flag at Town games. Not sure if anyone else remembers this, or what the connection was, or maybe I'm totally making it up?

I definitely remember the st Johndstone flag at town games, i remember seeing it hung over the advertising hoarding in top tier of the riverside during a game v Either Plymouth or Stoke during the great escape season under Peter Jackson, it definitely happened, you aint making it up.

Agree Westie, Ease in with games against, Buckie, Elgin, and Peterhead. Step up a level with Inverness Caley Thistle & Ross County Finish off with Aberdeen All sorted from one location. Many years QPR came up here. They rented a block on RAF Kinloss and used their facilities to train, gym, astro turf pitch etc and played a couple of friendlies against HFL teams.

PS No trip to Greenock Morton is complete without a trip to the The Norseman Bar My mate has been a fan of the Club ever since we bought Joe Harper from them back in the 60's. He now owns the Club. Joe was a prolific goal scorer for all the Clubs he played for - bar one en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Harper
