Anyone mentioned Jaheim Headley yet?
Have a feel he'll break through this season.

Some overoptimistic TRIPE on this thread. Being over optimistic would be folk saying we're going to get promoted, they aren't and we won't but one thing I will guarantee you is that we will be nowhere near the relegation spots. For one who has been known to look on the bleaker side in the past art, this is very encouraging. I sincerely hope you are right.

I think what people should bear in mind, is that given different results in these 2 clubs last few matches of last season, we could have been playing each other as equals next season. So having said that I think it was a very encouraging performance and result, albeit a pre season friendly.

Anyone know (or want to start a rumour) on what the situation with Rhodes is?
Warmed up with the rest of the named reserves at half time but the only one of the 22 listed not to play a part in the game.
Did he start to feel ill / tweak something in the warm up? Did Warnock just want Thomas to play all 90 minutes or was it just a case of having one too many forwards in the squad and he wanted to play both Hudlin and Harratt up front rather than one of them being out of position to accommodate Rhodes? Or perhaps a bust up with Warnock or maybe news of a potential deal came through which they didn't want to jeopardise if he were to get an injury?

My guess would be that we need him to go and are trying to get the best price we can for him. Seems as though there may be more than one club interested and for us it’s probably all down to the percentage of his wage the other club will pay.

I hope we haven't given up on Simpson, I have a feel there's a player in there ready to emerge.

I think that's a reasonable account of what I saw, apart from the natural Stockport bias going a bit too far - they got more of the questionable decisions in their favour from the ref than we did. 4-0 sounds convincing but 4-2 would have been a fairer score on the balance of play.

Honestly, I read nothing whatsoever into the results of friendlies. We could beat Barcelona and lose to Liskeard and I'd treat both results the same. They're training exercises. Getting minutes into legs and shaking off rust. Trying out different formations, seeing how different players adapt in different conditions. All the while knowing that your opponents might (or might not!) be doing the same thing. Not giving a shit how we do in cup competitions is something I struggle to understand but friendlies? I'd be no more worried by a bad result on a friendly than I would be about Josh Austerfield having an off day in training a week last Wednesday - or a good result in a friendly is about as meaningful as Danny Ward having a blinder in training a week last Thursday. (NB - I have no idea how well Messrs Ward and Austerfield performed in training on any day, let alone the two I picked out). I agree to a lot of extent however had we lost to Stockport today with a full strength side there is no way you wouldn't have slight concerns. The cornwall friendlies were nothing games. I genuinely wouldn't. Same as I'm not concerned about our failure to beat Tavistock.

I presume their sub goalie Jordan Smith was the same chap we had on loan from the Twigs last season?

Five friendlies down. If nothing else, it's so much better than last season's mess. We were distinctly undercooked last season and by the time players were match fit we were half-a-dozen matches into the season.
I still think we need to squeeze a behind closed doors game in this week before Heerenveen, but we should be sharp at Plymouth, which is miles ahead of where we were 12 months ago.

You're right, on one occasion the shirt was nearly pulled over Harratt's head

Agreed except the tackle he berated it was fair if hard and I felt the county player was at fault. Literally 15 feet in front of me.

Agreed except the tackle he berated it was fair if hard and I felt the county player was at fault. Literally 15 feet in front of me. Was that the lunging tackle on Spencer by the Stockport No. 15 Second Half near the touchline? The ref should have blown up for that one and awarded a free kick, but he did play some excellent advantages for two Town goals. Sometimes playing too much advantage can lead to bad tackles and that was my concern here. So Spencer protected himself and the Stockport 15 came out of it worse off as play went up the other end. Both Assitants were reluctant to give obvious fouls in front of the , i think this is the Ref's instruction to wait and try and keep the game going but i think they could flag and he could it down and play advantage so its obvious what's going on... you cant complain when we get two goals off tackles he could have easily blown up for.

I saw for the first time on Saturday a chap in a Sac Republic shirt. He was also sporting a KN style tash.

Saturday's home game. Can you pay on the gate? I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be. They’re not expecting a big turnout; I think they’re only opening two stands (Riverside and Panasonic).

On the website it makes out likeit is ticket only by being on the same article as Boro and Leicester. The wording needs to be changed. Can't imagine it being ticket only with it being a friendly. If somebody from the club could tell us it would help. If the weather is fine, I shall make the trip down. If not, a 4 hour round trip to get soaked isn't worth it.
