Sorba MOM, I hope the small amount of fans that have an issue with him realise how counter productive that is and he goes on to be a vital player for us once more. Hudlin looks a bit of a rough diamond with a very unique selling point. His massive schlong?

Best thing about that game was Hudlin, a real pleasant surprise. He won his headers but was a lot tidier than I expected in link play & scored a lovely goal from a fantastic Diarra run & pass. I really worry that REG & Kasumu means that our link play won't be good enough, their passing simply isn't up to it. Diarra might not start but he should be really useful coming on for the last half hour. Thing is, Hogg doesn't resolve the problem either. Really need a more composed player in there, who can spot a pass. It's the biggest issue for me, even more so than a striker or RB.

Good workout that against a decent side. Players looking fit and hungry. Thought the young lads did well when they came on aswell. Building up well for the season, unlike last pre-season which was an embarrassment for a professional club.

Enjoyed that and made up for the friendly that I never got to today (Clachnacuddin) but still going to Fort William in one hour for the piss up anyway !
Ok it’s only Stockport County but there was endeavour, goals across the team, decent challenges to win the ball back, a decent pitch, stadium and commentary team...
What’s not to like ! - And a piss up to come neath the shadow of Ben Nevis - What’s Definately not to like about that !!! 🥃 😊 👍

Is there a reason why Simpson isn't in the squad, or has he just fallen behind Rhodes, Harratt and Hudlin as back-up striker? Simpson's in the stand, which for some reason reminds me of a traditional restaurant in London...

Impressive result. Seems like we’ll be ready to hit the season running this time around. You can’t say that, our squad is not fit for purpose, apparently….

Just back from Lossiemouth 0-1 Newmacher United. For a friendly, it was pretty unfriendly. RAF Lossiemouth's friends & family day today so it was nice for the Red Arrows to put a display on. Plus those new F35 Lightnings are pretty noisy compaired to the normal Typhoons we have here.

Harratts first touch is awful Hudlin looks a far better all round player. Thought Diarra was excellent. Both won't cut it this season in the champ.. Both pair have bad 1st touches... They both should get loaned to a mid table team. Get a striker in and put Rhodes/Simpson on the bench. Don't rate Simpson much either but 4th choice striker who might be happy to get a chance or a cup game

Bookmarked. 😉 I used to think that Hudlin won't cut it, but with a 9-subs bench this year I reckon that NW will use him as an impact sub to give tiring defenders something to think about. I suspect that H & H will both play a part for us this season. And, yes... You can bookmark this post and haunt me with it come May! 😄

And even DTS commentary suggested warnock wants a new striker so no idea why you need to be so negative after a good performance like today! UTT

Watched the last twenty minutes today and I was very pleasantly surprised by Hudlin’s performance. He took his goal very calmly. I’ve seen him three times before “in the flesh” and have said before his touch on the ground wasn’t bad, but I didn’t think there was any chance of him making it at Town. Looks like he’s improving (yes, it was only a friendly) and maybe I’ll be wrong about him.

Good run out for pre season, difficult to know what to make of the performance.
As others have said, Kasumu and REG didn’t give us a lot from an attacking sense. We looked clinical on the counter attack, which is going to be crucial this season.
Anything pumped upfield we struggled to make stick, not helped with their centre halves getting a free pass to grab shirts and man handle all game. In the second half one of them nearly had harratt’s shirt around his neck.
Thomas played well, Diarra looked class when he came on. Rudoni neat and tidy. Crying out for a midfielder that can control and dictate a game.
As a general point, most first touches today were awful.

REG's problem is he seems to have become a utility man with no real position, being a master of non of the positions he seems to cover. Thought we actually looked better after all the subs. The emergence of the younger players is encouraging.

I like how Diarra skips past three players who can't get anywhere near him.

Players looked focussed and hungry. For sure, we need some more quality in midfield.
Impressed by Diarra.
Hudlin. First impression. Got a chance and finished it beautifully.

Just got from Stockport with me Dad and What a game it was. Hudlin, Yuta, Ruffles, Ayina, Sobra all Standouts to me. I do agree with a few on here about the Midfield, But i do think Rudoni was interesting to watch, Never stopped Running that lad.
Promising time for town

Agree with most of what been said above... they were unlucky with the two offside goals and 2-4 would have been a fair reflection thought 0-4 was harsh on them. Dreadful mistake by Helik but saved by the offside flag. There cant have been much in that. The other goal they had ruled out was a great cross and header so unlucky again.
As for Town we took our goals well and competed well for 90 minutes. The lack of quality in Midfield was concerning First Half and that's something we need to improve on. Helik needs to improve his distribution but other than the terrible early pass he made some great long passes out wide. Sorba looked fit and back to his best and if he knuckles down and keeps his head on should have a good season. I hope Neil and Ronnie can get the best out of him like they did with the rest. We simply cant afford not to have him in the team when his head is in the right place. Hudlin took his goal well but will need to get used to players grabbing on - he coped quite well and may be a bit part player could come in handy in games late on.

Great goal by Hudlin... Diarra superb run. He is my tip to be our highest transfer fee. Real quality and a dynamic midfield runner. Ps this is a competitive game sat on front row and several full blooded tackles

I'm just thinking of when/if Ward gets injured what we have. Think Brodie Spencer looked tough today at RB. And High played well he plays better with some freedom to his game.

If we did lose, it’s obviously not the end of the world but I’ll never understand the “you can’t think anything of it” brigade who jump to the rescue when we lose a friendly… You play to win, always, so you should be disappointed if you lose as that means players didn’t perform. Honestly, I read nothing whatsoever into the results of friendlies. We could beat Barcelona and lose to Liskeard and I'd treat both results the same. They're training exercises. Getting minutes into legs and shaking off rust. Trying out different formations, seeing how different players adapt in different conditions. All the while knowing that your opponents might (or might not!) be doing the same thing. Not giving a shit how we do in cup competitions is something I struggle to understand but friendlies? I'd be no more worried by a bad result on a friendly than I would be about Josh Austerfield having an off day in training a week last Wednesday - or a good result in a friendly is about as meaningful as Danny Ward having a blinder in training a week last Thursday. (NB - I have no idea how well Messrs Ward and Austerfield performed in training on any day, let alone the two I picked out).

Some overoptimistic TRIPE on this thread. Being over optimistic would be folk saying we're going to get promoted, they aren't and we won't but one thing I will guarantee you is that we will be nowhere near the relegation spots.

I agree to a lot of extent however had we lost to Stockport today with a full strength side there is no way you wouldn't have slight concerns. The cornwall friendlies were nothing games.

As I’ve said many times, I’m not a big fan but thought Thomas looked good today. Worked hard, tracked back, looked lively, took his man on and played with a smile on his face. The Warnock effect? Whatever it is, long may it continue.
