Flip me. "Minutes in legs" is rapidly becoming this seasons "xG" Both meaningless. How is getting minutes in legs in pre-season meaningless? It's about getting players fit and ready for the season, surely? Yup, ALL about gradually lifting the CTL to raise fitness and load levels without having peaks and troughs of TSB that increase the likelihood of injury. Don’t build the base minutes properly now and we’ll lose a couple of players in September. Not worth the risk give it’s all so measurable.

I love this modern use of TLA's (three letter acronyms) to convey a sense of expertise, IT technicians get paid fortunes for baffling people with acronyms and then simply rebooting your PC .

Or you could Google it if you don't know. Chronic Training Load and Training Stress Balance - here's an article that sets out the accepted impulse-response model and how that relates to training load > www.trainingpeaks.com/learn/articles/the-science-of-the-performance-manager/Nothing at all to do with conveying a sense of expertise either here or with IT people baffling folk...if you're into it ( and I'm "into" the science of athletic performance - having tracked these metrics in myself over many years they reflect and can help forecast future performance levels not just for elites, but for overweight, boozy 50+ year olds!), you use the language, and obviously (as I've done here), you forget the audience sometimes 🤷♂️ I consider physiology and training for peak performance as a foundational part of understanding football - its a lot more than just what happens at 3pm on a Saturday.

I wonder if the lack of signings will affect the attendance on Saturday at all, its usually interesting to catch a glimpse of the new signings and one of the motivations for attending. Probably be a poor turn out.

When I Google 'TSB' I just get a screen full of matches for a certain High Street bank, not a sniff of Training Stress Balance so if I had Googled it I would have remained as ignorant as I was in the first place. I doubt there's too many other people on here who are ""into" the science of athletic performance - having tracked these metrics in myself over many years", so perhaps putting the terms in full rather than the acronym might have made more sense to the lay person. You should never make assumptions about your "audience", some of us are old enough to remember pre-decimal currency

Probably be a poor turn out. Agree. I’m not motivated to attend on Saturday - prefer to watch fully competitive games. But would have reconsidered this for a chance to have a first look at any new signing (s).

Minutes of exercise, minutes of training, minutes playing, all yes, but You don't get minutes in legs.

I've spent much of my life training like a professional athlete, have an RPR* of 42 at 69, as a result, but I'm in the Trustees Savings Bank camp. So can you actually pay on the day Saturday? No idea ! I'll ring club later but official statements on website earlier in week suggested it was ticket only . Let's hope that our transfer dealings are more efficient than the communication from the club about this match .....

I suspect you won't be able to pay at the turnstiles, but presumably you could join the massive queue at the ticket office before the game 😗😉🤣

Is there a stream for Saturdays friendly? I think so. During the Stockport game during the commentary I'm sure DTS mentioned that it was on YouTube, but it would be better to see it live.

Is there a stream for Saturdays friendly? No idea. Waiting for Drum to confirm. Confirmed during the Stockport game. DTS said they'd be back on YouTube for the Dutch game. Commentary by Oggy, so expect it to be miles behind the action and of no particular interest anyway.

TLA would more accurately stand for three letter abbreviation. An acronym is an abbreviation that is pronounced as a word, such as NASA or UNESCO. TLA is an initialism as the letters are pronounced individually. Unless you are pronouncing it as a word? In which case, as you were.

Interestingly, Argyle also failed to beat Tavistock in a friendly the other day. Same score but no idea of strength of team fielded.

Not all of us have the freedom to take a 2 week holiday without it affecting the football season in some way.
