He signed from Vitesse didn’t he? A midfield maestro... If there’s a word to describe him, I’d say it was speed.

Really don't need a new striker IMO if we have Hudlin and Harratt.

Is Hudlin the new Quaner? May be more of an Iffy type?

Pleasing end to pre-season.
Hard to judge Heerenveen given we’re ahead of them in preparation but I think they’ll struggle to better their mid-table finish last season. They were tidy, but offered very little threat, even with 11 men - they really struggled after the sending off.
Some pleasing and surprising performances through pre-season from Town players too. Hudlin will take the headlines but Ayina has looked assured and Jackson has done little wrong. I think Austerfield will feature more off the bench this season Harratt has been lively but is raw. It’s clear Rudoni is loving his football at the moment, he’s going to be a key player for us this season.
We still lack quality, obviously. For me, it’s a 10 we are really missing. We need some creativity and the link - a different dimension. Another wide player would be nice so we don’t have to rely on players doing a job.

Is Hudlin the new Quaner? I think he could be better than Quaner given the right coaching, confidence and a bit of luck. Fuckin hell, if he isn't better than quaner, he must be shit.

Couldn't understand how everyone could say that Hudlin is better with his feet than his head. Then I've just seen him miss an absolute sitter of a headed chance . I'll be accused of being a bedwetter perhaps but when a forward line of Hudlin and Harratt might be just as much in the running to be picked as Ward and Koroma/Thomas etc then that says it all . What does it say? Remind me how many goals these awful options have scored in pre season? I know most of the opposition has been well below championship but that is a lot more attacking intent than I have seen for a long time. It says we need at least one, possible two, strikers who have a history, or at least the potential, to get into double figures in a season.

Went today, must be my first Town friendly in 40 years, probably will be my last! Town desperately lacking in midfield creativity and intent up front. Going into the season with that starting midfield and frontmen is a worry. REG surely can’t start next week.
Lots of good comments on the goal scorer Hudlin. His hold up play has improved from what I’ve seen of him previously, but he’s always looked decent on the ground and poor with the head to me. Even so, Edwards long throws to Hudlin’s head could be a useful late-game tactic to panic the opposition, maybe?

Don't disagree but my biggest bugbear with Town for ages is the lack of composure from far too many of our players. There must have been 10+ examples today where a ball broke and it is a 60/40 in our favour and just needs a little poked pass to a team mate and we're smashing our foot through it in to touch or 60 yards downfield. No point naming names as we know who the usual culprits are but this kills our game far more than lacking creativity in midfield. Even with a creative player in there he would still spend most of the game watching the ball fly all over the place

Great to get down to the stadium and see the team again.
Thought Harratt and Hudlin did great when they came on. Hudlin in particular looks a potentially very effective player for us. His hold up play is a different class to that of Ward and he can pick a pass too. He's obviously young and inexperienced, but I hope to see a lot more of him this season.
I thought Edwards looked a decent addition too. Good long throw - think we'll rely on it quite a bit this season - and looks like he is capable of switching the play too.
Going into the season we look well-organised and tough to break down. The team looks well-drilled and everyone knows their roles. That said, I have concerns about our quality going forward. Our ball retention is not great, and our lack of technical ability in some areas may cause problems. We failed to complete quite a few very simple passes today.
Hard to judge how our season will go until the competitive stuff starts. We won't be an easy touch, and I can't see us being stuffed very often. Hopefully, we can rely our hard work and organisation to keep the opposition out and take advantage of the chances we create as we did at the end of last season. I suspect our conversion rate will need to be quite high as I can't see us creating loads of chances, particularly from open play. Hope I'm wrong, but that's how I see at the moment. Hopefully a few new additions will strengthen our attacking options before the transfer window closes.

Agree, very little entertainment or quality on show today, but Hudlin at least offers something a little different.

I don't know what to make of that today, i tought they weren't a bad team at all without really creating anything.

If Hudlin goes anywhere on loan (which is looking unlikely now) then I'll be really disappointed. Offers something completely different up front, and he's an absolute nuisance.

I just hope Kasmu hasn't picked up anything serious. Otherwise it was a good workout for the lads.

Thought Herenveen were decent technically without offering much threat, we thought they were like a Swansea of recent years, a decent test which I thought we stood up to well. Liked what I saw of Jackson, Edward’s, Harratt & Hudlin. We could do with some experience in the middle but we have a decent crop of youngsters at the moment, if Warnock can help them play with freedom and believe in themselves I think we’ll do ok.

I tell you what, Hudlin looks so much better than I was expecting. Did well at Stockport too just can't head the ball. Great feet and good first touch Maybe he's listened to Phil Billing about heading... to be fair that one near the end today that went wide wasn't a "sitter"- a very good chance to miss for sure, but not a Ronnie Rosenthal. He headed it down, towards the bottom corner but just pulled it slightly wide. The goal was a brilliant team effort, started and finished by Hudlin. He's still a bit raw maybe, but there's a decent player in there and we've got a manager who will know how to use his attributes. Him being a giraffe will give opposing defenders something to think about too.

Thought it had been decided that Hudlin wasn't good enough without seeing him kick a ball?

Didn’t go or watch on YouTube but that team looks dreadful on paper, be nailed on for relegation if we didn’t have Warnock. Defence fine but the rest is as weak a first eleven as we’ve had since promotion from L1 imo. I was very much looking forward to this season but fk me if that’s the team it’s gonna be a long hard slog!
