I think filling in the corners would help the atmos, obviously doing it with seating would be totally unfeasible and unnecessary but I would look to cover it with some sort of material, the same type of stuff they use to cover unused seating. If done right I think it would look decent, perhaps help keep the noise in a bit, weather out and provide some prime advertising space.
I remember at Leeds Road there always used to be big ads in the corners on the floodlights I think and they were the prime positions that would get noticed. Difficult to envisage but I think if done right it may improve the look of the stadium, I always thought the open corners detracted a bit from the look. Being detachable would be handy too as I think the open corners help the pitch at times.

Stoke City have recently released plans for a proper fan zone at The Bet365 Stadium. Artists impressions make it look like the type of fan park you get at major tournaments with big screens, etc. They are also having a five minute light show about 15 mins before kick off against Leeds this week. Something for Town to have a look at potentially.

I have a sneaking suspicion we will have a pre match light show tonight...its the first home night game since someone shared what they do at the Giants matches when its dark.

OR...do you GET THINGS DONE?

Good to see we're addressing the really big issues then. C'mon Lee. There are hundreds of things Town need to do better. Clearly a lot of money needs investing in the squad, the youth set-up and the stadium. But alongside that, there is the improving the fan experience at the ground and those are the elements which can be tried and changed much quicker. No suggestion that Town are doing anything with lights tonight, but if they did try something, would that be such a bad thing? Each individual thing they do try won't be universally popular but to stand round and do nothing would surely be far worse.

How is having a light show going to improve the fan experience? It's a football match not a night at the theatre.

And yet you could care enough to comment, as though flashing some lights on and off (which there's no indication that its even going to happen!) is going to reduce the ability to do the stuff you do care about! I couldn't care less about beer dispensing machines in a stadium...I'm not going to jump on that discussion and diss their very existence!

the only thing that will improve the atmosphere is how the team play. Warnock had us 'up and at them' a bit and the crowd loved it...add in the fact we don't have any quality players that are crowd favourites...thinking butler, bullock, mooy, Irons, jimmy nick and mcgill... the team just seems so bland and play like wooden blocks following instuctions without that inventive fluidity and creativity.. Maybe January will see some new recruits but at the moment it is all very mediocre for me..

A light show?
Maybe if they brought back something like Rooftop Gardens light show back in the 1980's, then I might be tempted to get there a bit earlier than 5 mins before the kick off...
I'm going to get shot down in flames here, but this fans experience gubbins, I don't get it. It's the 90 mins on the pitch that do most for the fans experience. Toilet facilities are more than adequate, catering is as hit & miss as it's always been, but it's the football that's important for me.

If you're in the ground more than 10 or 15 minutes before kick-off, there's something wrong with you.

I get that for some people there are good reasons to take seats early, access, young kids etc., but the vast majority don't move into their seats until the last 10 mins or so.
The light show thing is probably good for the kids in fairness, but not for most grown adults I'd have thought.
It's Dalton, not Disney...

Whilst I completely agree with you and htafcokay about the on-pitch stuff being most important, there's a lot of fans who make a full day of it. We used to get into Huddersfield just after lunchtime for a 3pm kickoff, Peacock or Town, McDs or Burger King and then drinks after.

Good to see we're addressing the really big issues then. Wait til they're sued by an epileptic You may not believe me, but that's exactly what one of my first thoughts was. There will be fair warnings I suppose, but we live in strange times. A lot of this sort of shit harks from the US anyway, the spectacle, the BBQ's in the car parks, the litigious society etc... I'm off to my local curmudgeons club for a pint before the game...
