How? How are some flashing lights going to get people to spend more money? In isolation they are not.....But it's all part and parcel of trying to improve the match day experience / fan experience and increase the number of fans that attend matches, come early and spend money. They are trying to do a number of small things to try and improve the match day experience / fan experience. Which as a whole, it is hoped, will go some way to increasing the number of fans attending and the amount of money the fans spend at matches. It's a very small piece of a puzzle they are trying to put together, to generate more revenues. The more revenue we generate, the bigger transfer budget we can have. The bigger transfer budget we have, hopefully, the better players we can buy, which hopefully leads to a better team and thus, hopefully, better performance on the pitch. Which is ultimately what all of us care about the most. As someone saying the only thing that matters to them is the performance on the pitch, then surely you should be applauding the club trying to do things that will increase revenue....And ultimately the available transfer budget. Flashing lights won't increase revenues in isolation, but they are a piece of a much much much larger puzzle. I just think it's a pointless gimmick. If it had been suggested a few years ago, everyone would have laughed their heads off.

Match Day Experience / Fan Experience is here to stay and there will only be more 'gimmicks' along the way. The idea of everyone having mobile phones in their pockets would have been laughed at in the mid 90s

It’s interesting that those complaining about the clubs efforts to increase revenues before the game are the ones who turn up 5 minutes before kick off. It’s quite busy around the ground from 1pm onwards and the fanzone seems to be increasing in popularity. Personally I think it’s great that the club are trying to make things better.

A light show? Maybe if they brought back something like Rooftop Gardens light show back in the 1980's, then I might be tempted to get there a bit earlier than 5 mins before the kick off... I'm going to get shot down in flames here, but this fans experience gubbins, I don't get it. It's the 90 mins on the pitch that do most for the fans experience. Toilet facilities are more than adequate, catering is as hit & miss as it's always been, but it's the football that's important for me. Whilst I agree to some extent, there will be a number of fans that 'buy in' to the whole fan experience gubbins. Like you, the fan experience isn't for me. I'm not bothered for a light show or drinks and grub before a match, with a live band or DJ playing. I go to watch the football and hopefully see Town win. But there will most definitely be a lot, and a growing number, that find the fan experience an enjoyable thing. There was a time when non of us were bothered with a mobile phone...."what do I want with a Bloody mobile phone" now loads are on them pretty much all through a footy match. Times change and so do people. The match day experience and fan experience is wanted by some and that number will only grow. It's a good thing that Town are trying to tap into this. In a few years time, there will literally be thousands getting down to the ground hours before kick off and staying afterwards to enjoy the match day / fan experience. Which shows how exciting the game is.

If that's your bag, I hope you enjoy the light show and the bouncy castles in the fanzone.

Not complaining though. That's the way it sometimes comes across though mate. Not to me, but that's possibly through engaging with you more on the MH thread as well as on here. Maybe it's because your style can come across (again not to me anymore) as fairly caustic so others think you're being deliberately argumentative, when in fact it's just the style of language you use. I know from my own experience that I engage differently with different people, eg if I'm with ex or current squaddies, the language would "make a slattern's ears curl" as my gran used to say. Whereas on here, knowing there's plenty of people who don't "get" the squaddie mentality, I tone it down A LOT. I'm not suggesting you need to do that in the slightest, just suggesting some might perceive you differently because of it. That's the peril of the tinterweb I suppose.

Don't get yourself in a tizz and have another cry because you think you are being picked on. We know what a sensitive soul you are. No need. The guy just constantly moans then tries to claim he isn't. Almost every post is anti Nagle and its tiresome. Every time he is called out on it he has a tizz and claims he is being picked on.

Not moaning about it though are you! Not really, no. I'm just stating my opinion. I haven't slagged anyone else off for their opinions. I'm obviously in a minority! With all the excitement around the light show, at least there'll be no queues at the gates when I rock up five minutes before kick-off. Win win.

But it is all linked, Lee. The club has to grow its revenue streams as they are abysmal compared to the majority. They need to get fans down to the ground and staying down there to spend more money. Like you, I am ultimately only bothered about what happens on the pitch and other than a bottle of coke for my lad, I don't spend any other money down there. To enable us to move forwards though, they need to entice folk like me and you to be down there longer and parting with some more money. Only other way to repidly.increase revenue is to hike the price of tickets and we both know how that will be received when it inevitably happens. We need better quality players so the product on the pitch is better but in the meantime, we do need other avenues of income increasing. I don't think it's linked at all. A light show is perhaps one of the most pointless ideas someone has ever come up with. How many people are realistically going to get into the ground early just so they can see the floodlights turning on and off for a couple of minutes? Perhaps I'm being a dinosaur here but I just can't see what difference it makes?Suppose a light left on continuously costs more in leccy than one that's flicked on and off......

What important matters? How do you know they aren't being addressed in the background? How do you know that they are? If you're so bothered, get down there early and watch your light show. I don't know they are. We will have to wait and see but if a light show helps improve the mood of some and gets people to come back what is to knock. Won't be there for the light show - a little too far from Canterbury for an evening match

Maybe we could introduce this at half-time, fill the departed dizzy penalties gap I had a good laugh watching these charros tripping with their lazos some lads instead of horses or other live stock ;-)
Nice post, thank you!

Certainly compared to your bullying post that was only there to get a reaction 🤷 It's not bullying in the slightest, it's a retort to the fact that he gives his opinion and the way he reacts sometimes when others gives theirs doesn't reflect well. I see a lot of negativity in his posts, as do others. It's not bullying to point that out. If he has mental health issues then I will consider my words more carefully in the future however I won't back down to negativity and what from the outside seems to be an anti Nagle agenda because of it. I know full well the impact of mental ill health, first hand and I apologised for any offence caused from that perspective however I don't need to answer to you as his nominated spokesperson.

The Batley Frontier pre disco light show used to get me pumped up in expectation of great things to come, sadly, just like watching Town, the night used to end up going home disappointed!

I'm sorry, but if you choose to see negativity in whatever I say then that's your problem. It says far more about you than it does about me. Same with the so-called anti-Nagle stuff. You're just completely misinterpreting it for your own agenda. I'm not anti-Nagle at all, and others have expressed the same opinions as me on both Nagle and the light subject. You've not said a word to anyone else but me.
