Never forget the expressions on those sat around me the first time we saw Mooy. People literally sat there with mouths open in disbelief.
Never forget how he used to swerve his body to create space. Always in control of the ball. An absolute delight to watch and best ever imo.

Definitely the best I've seen for Town in 30+ years.
I remember in 16/17 when we had the FA cup run, Wagner made wholesale changes for each match but in the games against Port Vale and Rochdale Mooy was sent on in the 2nd half to see the game out with the clear instruction not to run. Even playing walking football he was still the best player on the pitch by a mile. A real class act

A terrific player - As good an all round centre mid as we’ll get to see
Vision, control, skill, movement, but also terrier like strength, break up play etc - all round excellent
You’d think there’s no chance he’s getting out of that tight space - he always did - he’d turn, retain control and move into a gap that wasn’t there. I can’t think how best to describe it
The Mooy / Hogg combo was a delight to watch
A top guy - good luck to him

What a player! Simply the best I've seen at Town in 40 years. I remember his first game in a pre season friendly I think it was, you could immediately see he was going to be very special. Difficult to describe but he seemed to play in a different dimension to everyone else, kind of like you would if you could slow down time and have 5 seconds to think whilst everyone else had 1. Thanks for the memories Aaron!

What a player! Obviously decided he just doesnt enjoy it anymore, and thats his prerogative.
When you hear him interviewed he always seems so quiet and shy. Really unassuming, so maybe the high profile, full on nature of being a 'star' just doesnt sit with him at all.

Saw his debut away at Oldham in pre season, only played 45 minutes and I’ll never forget about 10 minutes in the lad to left of me said “fucking hell he’s good”
Best player I’ve seen in a Town shirt and will remain that way for a long long time.
Thank you Aaron, here’s to a happy retirement.

He gifted them their equaliser. Shows how the memory plays tricks! Don't remember that at all. A very rare stray pass (back towards our goal i think)

Should have built a team around him in Prem season 2. Instead we fucked up the team around him. A proper gent. If we ever see a better player in a town shirt it'll be something special

All the very best in your retirement, Aaron, superb player for Town, the best I've seen in 45 years of knowing what I'm looking for on a pitch for us.
I swear he had a bald head so that the ball was more easy to be drawn in by magnetism. The bloke controlled so many of our wins, if in doubt give it to Mooy. Even in the last World Cup, he controlled games there & was MoM, IMO, in at least 2 of Aussies games.
I wonder how much better he would have been if he hadn't been so shy? I guess it could have worked for or against him. However, I can't think of anyone less suited to coaching.
Thanks for everything, Aaron, you were some player.

An absurdly good footballer who just had more time than anybody else. It was as though there was a forcefield around him where time just slowed down.
Arguably the best player I've ever seen for us. Certainly the best midfielder.
Thanks for the memories Aaron.

Certainly the best midfielder. Thanks for the memories Aaron. If you think a bit quicker than others you already know what you want to do when the ball comes to you and you always position yourself to recieve the ball with your body covering it from the nearest opponent, you get the extra second or two. Mooy had that in his game. The amount of times he simply put an opponent on the wrong side or played a first time pass or one touch and pass confirmed his abilities. He wasnt quick but he did put in the work required. We did well getting Mooy here.

We wouldn't have gone up without Mooy. Head and shoulders above anyone else in that squad. Gifted midfielder.

fabulous player and the only one I've ever bought a town shirt with their name on the back. Might have something to do with having no hair also.
Perhaps not his best game (which says everything given he played pretty well in it) but I will always remember him winning the ball high up the pitch off Juan Mata, and starting the move that lead to his goal and Town's opener against Man Utd at home. A victory I won't forget in a long time, and one I felt obligated to remind Man Utd fans over here in Ireland about.
Best of luck in retirement, a break well earned.

A shame the game wont be blessed with his ability anymore but when you look at the travelling he has done and time away from his family when in China it doesnt surprise me. Financially well off now and time to move on for him - hes probably won everything he is likely to do with the treble last year in Scotland. One player who owes us nothing - the differential for me was his consistency. His poor games were so rare they stood out like a sore thumb - selling him was a dark day but we had to given the ownership struggles.........................happy and healthy retirement Aaron.

My first memory of Mooy was seeing him on TV playing for Australia against England a few years before he came to Town (played at Sunderland, I think). He ran the game for Aussie that day and that memory of him meant I was excited the moment I knew he was coming to Town.

One of those I'll be happy to tell my grandkids I saw play live. Absolute quality midfielder.
Didn't our Premier league decline occur around the time he got injured? There were injuries and there was a string of ridiculous refereeing decisions, everything stacked up against us.

Best midfielder I've seen in my time. Still prefer Marcus overall, but no other midfielder can come close in my time watching. One ex-player I WOULDN'T have minded coming back for sure. Hope he enjoys his retirement, he's welcome back for a visit anytime he would like. To the stadium AND my home if he feels like it, I'll break out the Fosters

That goal v Newcastle in our first home premier league game was a thing of beauty. Lovely one two with Kachunga and curled it perfectly around the keeper. Absolute class act.

That Brighton game, and of course the "Heffing dream" derby the following week, were both a Mooy masterclass. Never before or since have I seen a Town player run the game so comprehensively. As others have said, at times it was as if he was playing on a completely different plane of existence to the rest.
Thanks for everything Aaron. Hope to see you back for Hoggy's testimonial!
