Liverpool, Everton, City, Utd, Leeds are all within the 1h30 limit that used to be in place (since removed I think). All are bigger pulls for younger players than us and all have better facilities.
We are not surrounded as in have clubs every direction, but I think the comment is highlighting the challenges we have at keeping the younger players when one of those comes calling.
That and also playing it up to a US audience.

Dont see the issue with Dean Hoyle appearing in the series. Its all about Kevin Nagle becoming owner of an English football team. Hoyle's the outgoing owner! Seems only natural that he'd have some role in story of Nagle buying the Club off him.
In his bit he's trying to explain to the Yanks and fans what its like to own Huddersfield Town and how it meant to him.
Personally thought his little speech at the start was the best bit of the second episode.

I can see Birmingham having a better shot at this than us given they have a famous American involved. People in the US are far more likely to watch a football documentary where Tom Brady is involved than Kevin Nagle who most people have never heard of

Someone get in touch with his people. Come on kev get that phone picked up he’s from California too.

But we live 96 minutes from their training ground so he couldn’t go. Town could potentially get youngsters from outside the 90 miles limit if we are able to develop our partnership with Rishworth School and they take younger academy players into their boarding facilities

I just think they picked up on the phrase used by Dean Hoyle in his bit. Hopefully, once Kevin Nagle has had more direct interaction with the fans he'll realise we're a bit fed up of the club being talked down - the surrounded by Giants is just another example. The sooner some of you chaps get your head around the fact we're a small club the better. For most of the past 54 years that I've been watching Town we haven't been well supported. Back in the 70s there were regularly c.3000 crowds. Not exactly a sleeping giant. For most of the past 54 years we've also been dross and always in the shadow of Leeds Utd. Get over it and you'll enjoy being a Town fan a lot more. Fuck em all anyway. UTMT What the fuck are you on about?

There were photos on FB of Kev with 3 more Yanks that had come over to watch. Never heard of any of them and from what I could gather one had been in a programme I'd never heard of, in the 90's, and between them they were big on Instagram 🤷

At number 5 it’s Wrexham, down 3 places because everyone is bored to tears with them and they’ve not been promoted this season. At number 4 it’s Huddersfield Town, trying to get to the PL whilst making sure the nineteen Marstons chicken concessions in the ground stay afloat. At number 3 it’s Birmingham City, because they’ve got an all star in as a minority owner. Proving that when you’ve more money than sense, a couple of $m still buys you some relevance. Birmingham are still struggling against relegation though, but have been awarded 15 extra league points because they were no.1 on Netflix for six weeks running…

Hell, Manchester is 27 minutes away by train (in theory, cheers TPE) - you'd have a hard time convincing anyone that the two bigger Manchester clubs aren't "giants". Not just potential academy talent, either. Every time someone walks into Huddersfield town centre wearing a Man United shirt, a kitten dies - but that's the "competition", that's the reality, and acknowledging that doesn't have to mean someone's talking Town (definitely not a small club) down.

Can't even begin to think how that will work out. Can see it causing more problems than benefits.

I'm somewhat sceptical about the prospects of this Netflix thing ultimately seeing the light of day, but excited by the general emphasis being placed on raising awareness of the club overseas.
If we are going to see real revenue growth on the commercial side a lot of it will have to come from beyond Kirklees - there's not a lot of spare cash floating about.
Prior to Reynolds / McElhenney and their TV show, Wrexham's turnover was £2.5m. This year it will be above £20m (ours will be around £17m). Even without the star power (although I'm sure they will look to harness the Patrick Stewart connection), there is still money to be made by raising HTAFC's profile in the US.

Posted this tweet from Paddy Power when it first came out too 🤣🤣🤣 Tom Brady will feel at home watching Birmingham City, given he’s used to seeing players who can’t kick a ball and continuously run into each other.

New 4 part series “Mission To Burnley” on Sky Documentaries is worth a watch.
Kev and his team should definitely watch it if they want some insight on what’s required to get out of the Championship.

No lad (or indeed lass nowadays) of mine would be allowed to step foot anywhere near the Big Yellow Skip or Thorpe Arch, unless as an opposition player. And I bloody well mean that too. If those coonts were interested, then other clubs would be too - and that's where my young un(s) would be heading.

It's quite a trek from Hollywood to catch a game so obviously he's not there every week. Seen him at many games before and after our PL "adventure".
