Age. He’s too old to regularly start at this level. But he’s still good enough and clever enough to have an impact off the bench, which is why we signed him. We signed him because his Dad asked Phil Hodgkinson if he could come back and because he'd played for us before. Jordan Rhodes was 31 when he signed for us, I wouldn't say that a 31 year old is "too old" to be regularly starting at Championship especially considering the ages of some of his teammates. Even if that is true I don’t think he’s done badly. Every player is different. Danny Ward can still run about for 90 mins and is 31 now. Rhodes can’t. We signed him to come off the bench against tired defences to pop up with important goals, which is what he’s done.

Sorry about your lad going, Andy. It is what it is!! The lad has been a great servant to this club and deserves a bit of respect..that's all I'm saying Imagine that he may read this...he will be thinking ungrateful barstuds!! First time around he was amazing. Then he forced a move. Dont blame him with the money on offer, but he did force it. Folk are carrying on like he came back on 20 grand a year, not a week. Since returning he probably earned more per year for delivering nowt than the average town fan earns in a lifetime.

In comparison jordan is a sniper...one on one with the keeper he scores every time and also any chances around the box We don't play to his strengths...he will end up at a club like Rotherham who are more direct and get lots of chances and score a bagful,,then some on here will be scratching their heads I love wardy...but he couldn't hit a barn door in his first spell at the club...did all the hard work and always fluffed his lines...early on against posh at old Trafford he put an easy chance onto the post like he did most games Jordan scores nearly every chance he gets Wardy 50 percent at best Since they both have left us (also noting Ward moved from being a winger to a striker) and after Rhodes left Blackburn, Ward has gone on to be a regular starter when fit and Rhodes a perennial substitute. I don't wanna bash Rhodes, but this thread has evolved from understanably defending Rhodes to being quite disrespectful of Ward and exaggerating the present merits of Rhodes. Their first stints with us has bugger all to do with who is most suitable now. At the same time, Rhodes first stint means he'll rightly be classed a legend.

Both excellent club servants IMO, who have given Town great service and provided many great moments and happy memories.
All good things come to an end eventually.

Andy Booth and Jon Stead were sold to Premier League clubs and bettered their careers. Marcus Stewart was sold because the club/the manager didn't want him (whichever story you believe). Jordan Rhodes didn't leave to better his career, he left to boost his bank balance. Going to Blackburn was such a sideways move.

Best of luck to Jordan whatever happens. Have fond memories watching his first stint at the club, the draw at Hillsboro in particular and the 4 goals against the MASSIVE will stay a memory for a good while. One of the few times i've celebrated a draw as if it was win.
Hasn't worked out on his return as far as on the pitch is concerned, a couple of important goals here and there. No doubt his experience is worth having around the dressing room though if not delivering on the pitch. A good mentor for the young strikers, if they develop to be even close to what Prime Rhodes was we'll have good strikers for the future.

I'll leave it now...I'm guessing you're in the 20/30 age bracket so never saw him play I'm happy to debate but you obviously have a personal grudge against him for some reason so better to leave it there One final note good centre forwards usually have a 1 in 2 scoring ratio Ex Town legends Craig maskell 87/43 Duncan shearer 83/38 Martin Smith 80/29 Ian Robins 156/59 Kindly......73/35 The bloke we're relying on this coming season has a 1 in 5 ratio... Just saying

Where I said he was good enough to play in the Premier League? Talk about reading what you want to read...

Didn't Hoyle say to him after Old Trafford that if he stayed for another season he'd be allowed to go if we got an offer which matched our valuation? A move to another Championship club wasn't prohibited and Blackburn met our price. Blackburn at the time had just been relegated and would have been hopeful of returning to the Premier League. With the benefit of Rhodes's goals this was a realistic ambition for them.

I said it was a sideways move at the time and still believe that, Blackburn were never going to do anything.

Terrible signing wasting a load of money. Even though he forced a move away in the first place, i always thought of him as a super player for us. So many folk saying he'd score loads. Same ones who thought the chuckle bros would also rip this league up........

I like the company I work for and have given them 12 years service
But...if another company came and offered me 2/3 times my salary for the exact same job then I'm off end of
It was a life changing amount of money he would have been offered and he would have been silly not to take it....made him a millionaire
There isn't a single player at any club who is not already financially secure that would not do the same....you could get a career ending injury at any time

Hardly a terrible signing was he, scored plenty of important goals on our run to 3rd place in the league and the playoff final? He's now not fitting how Warnock wants to play, so it's time to move him on.

I Can't criticise him since he came back. Always worked hard and minutes wise he has a better than 1 in 3 strike rate.
He was still our top scorer last season even though he only played the equivalent of around 17 games. Some crucial goals in his second spell aswell.
Good luck to him.

A 3 year deal was idiotic, but he did better than I thought he would. He was shocking for Wednesday and his strike rate for us has been significantly better. If he'd been signed on a 2 year and released in the summer we'd be being much more charitable with him I think. He was playing far beyond anyone's expectations at the backend of the playoff season.
