Quite pleased I managed to reign myself and not slag the team off on here or on twitter. (One dig at squad depth) Wasn’t a warnock performance in the second half and he has quite rightly had a go at a few. It’s very early days but let’s remember we have lost Holmes and Camara out of midfield. Neither has been replaced. It’s glaringly obvious that we are light in that department. I don’t for a second believe that warnock and the club aren’t trying to do something about it. They need to hurry as we don’t want to be playing catch up again. The fans won’t stand another poor start to the season. UTT ?

But what does that even mean? I’ve never ever understood this narrative. How would being ‘less meek as a club’ have helped us yesterday? Get the right players in and I couldn’t care less about press conferences, social media content and our corporate image. Bali Mumba showed yesterday what a difference direct, tenacious and progressive players can make in games where the general skill is broadly equal. Highlight of day yesterday was my cottage pie, veg and sticky toffee pudding at Gloucester farm shop services at 8pm. Was probably worth the trip just for that. It means that we seem to be constantly fed narratives to limit our ambitions such as being a small club surrounded by giants and can't compete financially with such luminaries of the game. Despite the initial no limits campaign in the Premier League we are soon hearing that we should just be happy to be there but that we can't really be expected to compete with the established teams. I would find it hard to believe that teams like Burnley, Bolton, Portsmouth etc. were ever fed this kind of mentality by their clubs owners and when we meekly surrendered our top flight status we then became the Working Class Club (whatever the f**k that really meant) almost to further undermine any expections that we were a club with genuine ambition. I agree about Gloucester Services, absolutely brilliant (like Tebay in Cumbria) and I wish that all services could be as good as that although the prices are a bit eye-watering. Not for the likes of us working class folk from West Yorkshire Fair enough mate, can absolutely see your point. A £55 acca win paid for four meals and drinks at the services. Farm shop looked good and even the petrol station was nice.

I logged on expecting complaints of 'end of the world' proportions, although the sensible posters are still sensible i was right... no yesterday wanst very good, Koroma missed a great chance, so did Diara, ward brought a superb save out of Hazard, we didnt do enough to win and Plymoth did..ie scored goals, sure we need new signings and theres going to be more defeats this seaosn possibly more than we'd like but its along old season.

Sorba and Koroma, didnt go into too much detail, but Koroma for missing a guilt edged chance, didnt say too much about Sorba but i think he meant ball watching/day dreaming for one of their goals, he wasnt tearing strips of them just stating the obvious, switch off in this division and you'll be punished.

As I remember (could well be wrong) wasn’t MF slagged off for naming underperforming players, and for saying he thought we’d played well when we patently hadn’t. Is NW being judged by a different set of rules?

Duncan . You say we've "lost" Holmes and camara from the midfield. Can you tell me how many times they played under warnock last season ?

Could be Ruffels when referencing Josh with the defensive part.

Is NW being judged by a different set of rules? The difference being that Warnock commands respect from the players and MF did not. You earn the right to have that respect and to be able to talk about the players. Warnock wouldn’t have mentioned someone like REG (who was clearly at fault) because he seems to have fragile confidence and needs an arm around his shoulder. He mentioned players who he feel will react to it by putting in a better performance next time.

If he’s so good at “putting an arm round players” he should be equally as good at letting them know what he expects of them out of the public eye.

Could be Ruffels when referencing Josh with the defensive part. It was Koroma that was caught in possession for the 2nd goal, having said that the Plymouth lad should have still been stopped on his run towards the Town goal.

Yesterday convinced me more than ever that we need a centre-half, as well as a midfielder and a front-man. I like REG, everyone does, he seems a solid professional, but he is not a midfielder, in my humble opinion, he doesn’t have the assets, and watching him chase back against Plymouth was like watching my dad run, and it made me question whether he has the pace to play centre-half at Championship level.
And Sorba Thomas pains me, because he has quality on the ball which we need and I rate, especially considering the number of players at this level who cannot take a decent corner or set piece, but he’s still being found guilty of ball watching and giving up in the tackle.
The bench is the worse on paper, in terms of depth and experience, that we’ve had in as long as I can remember. So, as the matches get more difficult, things are going to continue to get worse for Town unless Warnock gets the players he needs. And even if new players eventually arrive, they won’t have had the opportunity to bond with the squad or work together in pre-season.
Whatever, after Plymouth it's more obvious that we need signings. And where are the Premier League loans we’ve had in previous years? If Town leave it much longer, we are going to be glued to the bottom which is going to make it hard to even sign loanees.
Like all Town fans, I wanted a winning start to this season, for a change. I thought this was a new beginning for Town, with a new hope. Instead, I’m concerned how exposed that Warnock has been left by the owner, Edwards and Cartwright. I’ve heard the talk about the board struggling to work under the fair play rules, but the rules are the same for every team.
I do appreciate the efforts made by the staff and players in pre-season and the majority down in Plymouth though, and I acknowledge that Town could have won the game. But I’ve just watched Leicester vs Coventry. I must admit that I’m worried for Town, and we haven’t even played the first home game of the season. This time, Town won’t be able to call on Neil Warnock to help save us, because Warnock will have left after being added to the list of recent good managers who weren’t backed by the board in the transfer window.

Awful defending for the first was worst for me, accepting terrible conditions - Nichols could have crept 2m off his line for a free catch, Helik header weak, lost next header etc - I get it was stormy but Christ, dog and duck that from experienced pros
But unlikely we’ll have the back line we finished with playing hopefully…
We looked to have created enough chances
Needed striker / centre mid who can control ball all summer - ideally wide option but those two in gives would give more flexibility with Rudoni. Patience clearly needed & restricted by FFP but we need to find a way of bringing them in
Re poster above saying need a centre half - that’s last position we need to focus on….Helik, Pearson, lees, nakayama, ayina and Edwards/ruffels could play in a 3. Need centre mid, striker. If we get a third we need another attacking mid / wide option not another centre half imo

A shout out to the many town fans affected by train cancellations caused by the trees on the line yesterday afternoon that cancelled all trains back north last night, the 17.27 / 18.27 meaning many had to find hotels for the night/another night and trek back this morning, head north in taxi's. London trains delayed too and as usual plenty of southern exiles, met a lad back over a couple of weeks from Dubai. A lively and well lubricated 1600 following, of which 500 must have missed Heliks equaliser as the tills crashed leading to huge queues under the stand before HT.
Pity we cant defend and prefer to run alongside pacey attackers, Sorba should have taken a booking and hacked that lad down, Koroma hanging on to it too long before being outmuscled, 2 in 3 mins & we were done, yet we still created a chance or 2 and had Wards effort gone in think that might have pushed us on for an equaliser.

Were we aware of Mumba and had we been interested? - Plymouth paid a million for him and, as I understand things, they also paid the same amount for the lad from Swansea. It looks like they've got a manager who knows the ropes - perhaps we should keep an eye on him for when Warnock finally retires.

Bad start, they scored early, but we eventually came into the game 20 mins or so from the end of the first half, and we carried on with the momentum early part of the 2nd half. Had we scored then might have been different, I think the fans there sensed something was coming, but sloppy defending in the middle of the park allowed Plymouth in twice in a few minutes. Just like a hefty kick in the gonads, we were never going to recover from that. A bad result yes, but not the end of the world yet!

Plymouth will be in the bottom six - along with us - unless we sign some players. We have stayed up twice in the last three seasons by small margins - if we keep knocking on that door its going to open.
