Thought we were a bit unlucky yesterday, but it just goes to show how vital it is not to switch off at any time during games. Good, entertaining game though so I'm hoping it'll be the same against the Teesiders.
We'll see how highly Neil Warnock values a cup run in this tournament when we see the team he'll be putting out v Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, but I get the feeling it'll be his strongest. Both Town and Middlesbrough have had a poor start to the season in terms of results, so who will want the win more on Tuesday? Hope we don't see first hand why a lot of folk are tipping Boro to be up there among the front runners this season. We need a confidence boost before the visit of Leicester on Saturday.
COME ON TOWN!!

Never know what to expect in terms of selection.
Think it will be used as fitness and minutes for a few. I think NW will go.

Would've been a good chance to play our squad players if we had any

Listening to Warnock on EFL programme it sounded like he'd pretty much written it off and would use it to give game time to those usually on subs bench or youngsters. It wouldn't have given me any encouragement to go if I was thinking about it.

He said in his post match interview he’d be using some fringe players and we don’t have the squad depth for a cup run, or words to that effect. At least he’s honest. Comfortable away win.

Not just Town obviously, but if clubs are not committed to a cup competition by playing weakened teams , how can they expect the fans to turn up in great numbers?

We can't run the risk of picking up injuries having such a threadbare squad already. Loads of the B team are already padding out the first team because we don't have enough senior players.
What a ridiculous situation.

Sounds like we are going to toss it off. Pretty much like the first two thirds of last season. Not great, but understandable given the state of the squad.

The first eleven need to find each other so it may not be the worst thing to give them time together, especially as we did not do it enough in the friendly games.

I think we’ll play the reserves and lose by a similar score line as we did in the League Cup 20 odd years ago.
Only this Boro team don’t have Emerson, Juninho and Ravenelli (not sure all played against us that night).
Dalton pulled one back “one nil to England…”

Like to see Harratt and Hudlin up front gor this one. I've got a ticket for Tuesday but ain't too enthused about it if truth be known. Warnock said the squad isn’t big enough gor a cup run on the FL Show so if we win we win if we lose we lose.

Boro 2/1 which seems quite generous seeing as we'll be putting out a weak team

Cant afford any more injuries
Use to gain fitness / use to test if likes of Hudlin can cut it in champ
Did fine against heerenveen ten men under 18s - different game in championship

Neil has already said he'll play some reserves, therefore, noone can complain about not having the first team out after the game.
I'm not saying Hudlin is the answer to our prayers but he performed really well pre-season, surprised most of us & it was strange he didn't get on yesterday, otherwise in what circumstances will he be trusted if he can't get on when we're chasing a game? Start him on Tuesday, he can't contribute less than Wardy did & if he's useless, so be it but I'd rather see in a cup game than a league one.

Maxwell Jackson Nakayama (needs minutes) Ayina Edwards Headley Austerfield Hogg (needs minutes) Jones Hudlin Harratt I assume Edwards can play and Stoke don't need to give permission with it being a season long loan? I certainly would like to see Harratt and Hudlin start, see what they can do.

I'm going but God knows why. If the manager CBA with it then I don't see why we should either. We’re giving it a swerve, first real home game for us is next Saturday v Leicester City. This game is just a distraction, we’ll play a weakened side and bow out unceremoniously in the first round like we do virtually every season. Would be a total waste of a 90 minute round trip for us.
