Anything worthwhile to add? At the risk of being called a stalker for replying here… We only see Hogg in games. We don’t see him every single day in training - there’s a reason he’s been at the club for 10 years and been captain for a good proportion of that time. Successfully too.

He's been the captain for about three years. Schindler, Smith, Hudson, Peltier and Clarke were before him. I think one day we might be surprised that there's life beyond Jonathan Hogg and we might even get someone in who is better. I just wish we'd show some ambition and not constantly have to rely on a 35 year old who is nowhere the player he was at his best.

He was the 'actual' captain and main leader of the side long before they gave him an armband to wear.
He isnt the player he was, youre right about that and Im sure we will be looking for someone to step up and replace him asap, both as a player and a leader. But we dont have anyone yet who can do either of those things never mind both. Players like that are rare and managers dont want to part with them because they value them so highly, which is why hes been practically the first name on the team sheet for everyone of the 10 managers hes had at Town.

Peter Clarke was one of those players that you come across once in a while, he was a brilliant player and i cant remember who it was against at home but he cleared the ball of the line with an over head kick. A brilliant player ? He was a very good leader but he's never been brilliant as a footballer

So we're not allowed to compare the current Town captain with former Town captains? Interesting. Wasn't Peter Clarke our captain at the same level we're at now? Standards do need to be maintained, but he goes way overboard with younger players and usually when it's his own fault. Loved Clarkey, a players' player, still plying his trade, good lad. Love Hoggy too, his time to step down will come, but it ain't yet. Trying to compare these two Town legends in an attempt to belittle/criticise one of them is pretty low. I realise you are only here as a WUM but do us all a favour mate, just drop it...... while you are only looking ridiculous. I rest my case. Unlike some others on here, I DO know when to STFU!

Just seen that Headley has been getting racist abuse on social media. Absolutely unbelievable that some knuckle draggers think that this kind of shit is acceptable. I hope the club bans the bellends responsible for life.

But this is because of the lack of quality of his midfield colleagues over the past few years. If Hogg can’t offload to a ball player then he looks poor I agree.

I thought Clarke was a pretty basic player. Not great but a good solid third tier centre back who didnt look out of place in the 2nd tier, but wouldn't have looked out of place in the 4th tier either. Nothing wrong with that but what a great character.
My over-riding memory of him was at the play off semi first leg at MK Dons the season we went up. I was right behind the goal and there was a melee near the end in our goalmouth and Clarke smacked his head against the post. Honestly he was out cold for about 5 or 6 seconds. Sparko. He kind of came to, realised who he was and what he was doing and got up and played on. Bit silly perhaps, but summed him up because he'll have known if he had a concussion injury he'd have missed the second leg and maybe even the final. Loved that kind of fighting spirit. At the Millwall play off semi 2nd leg a couple of years earlier at the Den he was the only player we had that night who didnt shit himself in that hostile atmosphere.

Enjoyed watching most highlights of last night’s League Cup games on ITV 2 + 1 there (Town’s apart of course) and enjoyed seeing all the shock wins (especially Gillingham’s) -
I see had we got Middlesbrough to penalties and progressed, Town would’ve had been Trotting West to play The Trotters of Bolton in (outside of Bolton) is The Reebok I think...
As I say I loved the shocks and a lot of Championship sides are out to these said shocks - The downside is that like Town, they’ll only have The Championship to concern them as well now and will have plenty free weeks and no burnout excuses just like HTAFC !
