Anyone who went tonight, how did Yuta get on. A better option than REG in a back three for Saturday maybe? I didn't go but he sounded to have had a good game on the radio, the commentator was very complimentary when he went off in the last 5 mins. However, if he was to play on saturday, I'd have expected him to go off some time between 45 & 60 mins.

Bizarrely Jepson is telling them all to slow/calm down when trying to play quickly, he does realise we’re losing with less than 10 to go? Has Jeppo taken charge today or is Warnock there?

So what's the plan when we lose our first 6 games? This squad is pathetically weak & what possessed Warnock to take on this lot. Just keep saying "Yeah, but Warnock" over and over again.

Hudlin must be going out on loan as soon as we sign someone. Daft not to give him longer tonight if he's staying If that happens, bring back Bromby! (I'm being facetious, before anyone starts)

Warnock said a few have put themselves in the shop window, are we aiming for an 18 man squad? Are we that potless? 🥹

Overall its a defeat. But plenty of positives. Not seen town look as good as the opposition with 10 men for a long time. Especially for 75 minutes. More with injury time included.
REG isn't good enough, cane on and all of a sudden we looked worse. Can't fault his effort and desire though.
Scott High... leave that 1 there.

The hospital radio guy thought there were between 12 and 14 thousand in there tonight . He also thinks his penis is between 12 and 14 inches long More Boro there than town tonight. Felt like it anyway.

It's worse than I thought, the whole squad business. I was hopeful for these crop of youngsters but it's a big ask for these lads to step up. First half I thought we were decent but 2nd Middlesbrough asserted their authority and used their know how to keep us penned back and it was men against boys. With the game in the balance at 2-1 I thought Warnock should have thrown on Koroma, Hudlin and Thomas, even if he wasn't really interested in salvaging the tie make it look like he was. Disappointing after a reasonably spirited performance but I must say, you have to worry for us on Saturday.

Chris Maxwell – Tested surprisingly little through a combination of last-ditch defending and wayward Middlesbrough shooting. Can't be blamed on the goals. 6
Brodie Spencer – Misread Daniel Barlaser's long ball as Middlesbrough drew level, which bumps down his grade, but regrouped and had an overall strong game, especially impressing in the second half. 6
Loick Ayina – Generally defensively reliable and didn't put a foot wrong on the ball. A really good centre-back showing for the most part, but unnecessarily over-committed to give Riley McGree the chance to score Boro's third goal - a shame as we'd have gone another mark higher otherwise. 7
Yuta Nakayama – Tested the keeper from a couple of set pieces and looked composed first playing in a back three and then in a back four, though positioning slightly questionable on Boro's second goal. Understandably looked rather gassed by the end 6
Ben Jackson – Started at right wing-back before moving to left-back after Jaheim Headley's early red card. Did some good and important work defensively, but undid that somewhat by letting Isaiah Jones go free in the box to put Boro ahead as well as with some untidy work on the ball. 5
Josh Austerfield – Read the situation well to intercept a stray pass on the edge of the Boro box and tee up Kian Harratt's early goal. Put himself about well and tidy on the ball. 7
Brahima Diarra – Started as an attacking midfielder before being moved across to the right wing after the red card. Gave Hayden Coulson a torrid time out there and earned Town approximately 427 free kicks. 7
Jonathan Hogg – Got more important minutes in his legs, completing the first half and acting as an important marshall for a largely youthful side, especially once down to ten men. 7
Jaheim Headley – Sent off just 13 minutes in for a cynical last-man challenge on Morgan Rogers to stop him getting clean through on goal. 2
Jordan Rhodes – Put himself about well and looked keen to do his share of the work off the ball. Acted as a makeshift midfielder for much of the game. 7
Kian Harratt – Put the keeper under good pressure then finished well as Town bought themselves a cheap opener. Barely in the game second half, through no real fault of his own, with Town under heavy pressure. 7
Substitutes Scott High (for Hogg 46) – Initially a direct replacement for Hogg before moving into a more advanced berth. Chased down opponents keenly, helping to create the late consolation. 7
Rarmani Edmonds-Green (for Diarra 62) – Came on to play Hogg's defensive midfield role. 6
Pat Jones (for Rhodes 62) – Effectively took over from Diarra out on the right flank. Fantastic cross for Kyle Hudlin to score off. 7
Connor Mahoney (for Nakayama 86) – n/a
Kyle Hudlin (for Harratt 90) – Came on and made an instant impact with an injury-time goal on his competitive debut. 7
Substitutes not used: Lee Nicholls, Josh Ruffels, Josh Koroma, Sorba Thomas.

To say how young our team was, and to play 80 mins with 10 men against a strong boro side, thought they made an excellent account of themselves tonight. Impress by harratt, austerfield plus nakayama looked brilliant tonight after so long out

I thought tonight was OK, the red card made it pretty much a free hit and the outcome was still interesting for far longer than it might have been due to our early goal.
Yuta looked decent, I liked Ayina and Harratt's contributions and bless Jordan - he tries his best even if he's on his way.
The first week of the season suggests we're desperately short of both first XI quality and squad backup though. Which should be no surprise as we've fewer options even than this time last year. Fingers crossed for some transfers in soon, better late than never!

Better result and performance than expected!
I do think as a team (not from today) our central midfield is so so weak... we cannot cope with Rudoni and Diarra in there. We are fine in terms of attacking midfield options but in terms of a shield to actually win battles it's just leaving our defence with too much to do

Sounded like Warnock was implying that he’s been proposed some proposed shite strikers by our scouting department…
A lot of grit and determination in that performance, with very little quality except from some nice finishes from our attackers. You can’t be critical of our youngsters as they are trying very hard but when I watch it I feel dismayed that this is the state of our squad.

Jackson, Austerfield, Harrett, Hudlin did themselves no harm. We obviously will keep Headley. The other youngster should go out on loan.

Wasn't at fault for any of the goals against, only criticism for me would be his distribution, but we had a man short for most of the game. He's not a big lad for a keeper, but that didn't do Steve Francis or Jorge Campos any harm. Nicholls can probably rest easy though.

Just got back - didn’t get stuck in traffic as there was nobody there. Hardly surprising given that nobody really cares about EFL cup.
