We finally got sold by Dean Hoyle. Footloose, fancy free and all set for the future. We then do a documentary on the new owner to celebrate this brave new dawn and who do we get to narrate it? Patrick Stewart? Reece Dinsdale? The woman who was Dr Who? No! Dean Hoyle!! It’s utterly crackers. The last time we had a new dawn we signed Dwayne Holmes, Will Boyle, Danny Ward & Jordan Rhodes. Who the hell turns a fresh start into a 2012 reunion? Us, that’s who. Everything we do defies logic. How are we staying up this year? We’re upgrading our academy to sign a bunch of 7 year olds from under the nose of Stan Rowlands. Don’t worry though, we’re trying to replace pies with Marston’s chicken. We won’t win many games but our protein intake will be second to none. It’s great. Enjoy your weekends everyone. Jesus, Mary and the orphans

As a mission statement, that penultimate sentence isn’t going to make a great tea towel. Maybe instead of a 100+ pages thread about new signings we should limit our annual excitement to discussing how healthy the clubs finances are and looking forward to the release of the clubs accounts. Those healthy accounts which mean we can't buy anyone for fear of FFP...

That’s a good point though. Surely sir Patrick needs to be involved with this?

Our new owner said all the right things at his q&a and respect for doing that. This is a question - not totally my view - but I’m 70-30 swaying towards it. Loads on here will say “get a grip”…”drama queen” etc. But it’s an opinion on a Has Warnock “pulled the wool over Nagle’s eyes?” We have a very weak squad and seemingly missing out on potential targets. Defeat tomorrow- we know it’s more than likely - and the pressure mounts. Remember this is a forum before I get abuse hurled at me just because I chose to post in my own name- rather than some silly fake name. Always UTT. You must be joking! Nobody I know has numbers in their name!😊 Oi

Is it just me who enjoys Town being utterly garbage as much as us being good? Bang average would be dull as dishwater. The highs of 2017 were unbelievable but the lows of 1988 & 2003 were just as much of a spectacle. Football is about camaraderie, passion and having a laugh. If you can’t enjoy an unknown Yank appearing from nowhere to buy the club, deciding to hire a 74 year old club legend, selling everyone worth over £20, being challenged to a bare knuckle fight by a fan on Twitter before trying to peddle behind the scenes coverage of us selling Dwayne Holmes to Preston to Netflix then this club ain’t for you. UTFT!! You’ve got a point tbf.

Are we signing anyone then or are we brassic? Still working on initial 2 top targets, so presume must be Dele Ali and Juan Mata How hard can it be to get someone to pick up a pen and sign?

KN: " We inherited a lot of debt. Most of it has now gone away. We took the new budget, which actually has more expenses that it has revenue coming in" If that quote is accurate the use of the word "actually" is quite scary. Did he really not expect that? Even more naively, did he think long standing supporters wouldn't expect that? It perhaps shouldn't be like that but it is no secret that it is.

Can only hope that he means sustainable as in not running up daft debts every year, which is fine, rather than self-sustainable. Because football clubs have never and will never be self-sustainable.

Marstons - not knocking their chicken, particularly the chicken fillet sandwich which is superb, but their chips are well below par.

What if the question in relation to it was for instance…. “why are we not spending loads of money on new players when we’ve sold so many and removed so many wages from the wage bill?” I’m in no doubt that KN knew exactly what he was getting into, certainly from a financial perspective and I think the naivety sits with anyone who believes otherwise.

It’s an odd thing to point out, is the point. Like stating the obvious. The sky is blue, death, taxes, championship clubs income less than expenses. Of course the income is less than expenses! This is football. So that’s why it’s odd and that’s why it would be scary if he was pointing that out like it was a surprise. Probably nothing in it and doesn’t mean anything, must be a nightmare having every word you say written down and analysed! My assumption is they understandably want to limit the losses rather than be under any illusions the club can wash its own face. The problem with this mysterious budget that no other club seems to suffer from and the player trading to date is that it makes fans nervous. Q and A and a few interviews and we’ve still no clue whatsoever what the budget will look like next season or why it’s so small this. Plenty on here confident they understand it, Mr Chicken and Mr Warnock think it’s FFP but I’ve still not seen a plausible explanation, just vague waffle about budgets and the EFL. Must be a clause somewhere that says it only applies to clubs who play in blue and white stripes and were formed in 1908.

It’s frustrating we’ve been unable to compete with seemingly similar sides for players for a while now. What I don’t agree with is everyone knows football clubs lose money. Sadly the evidence is on this board that some seem very unaware still.

We are the only club (to my knowledge) that’s been hindered by the former owner submitting a budget six months ago and the club now having to stick to it - to the point where we’re having to force out high earners and not replace them with anyone. How or why would this be the case?
Anyway - Ted’s post above sums it up nicely - the goings on at the Club over the last five years you really couldn’t make up.

I checked the miniscule small print regarding FFP,it clearly states these clauses only apply to Huddersfield Town!

I cant believe that anyone would have the brains to be as rich as Nagle is, but then not understand that any football club ion England outside of the PL, esepcaiilly in the championship , is going to be losing a lot of money ..not only to challenge at the top, but just to exist. And most in the PL too. So the use of the word 'actually' is a bit odd. I get why Hoyle put in his budget whilst he was the owner ( anyone with half a brain knows until a deal is signed it isnt bound to happen. What I dont get is why Nagle cant change that budget if he chooses to his own. Maybe he can and theres a time restraint on doing that? I dont know. but I dont remember hearing about this issue at any other club.

Whatever looks like is going to happen, tends to be the opposite of what comes to pass. We just have to enjoy it. Football is entertainment, we were probably more entertaining off the pitch than on it last year.

All KN seems to have said is that the budget he took over has more expenses than income. If it is I’m not sure what wrong with saying the word. Actually. Surely it’s a factual comment just said in different words that I might use

Was he apparently unaware that the company his was purchasing was putting forward a budget he was supposed to live within? We have taken so much on trust and NDA's I think that they assume we will believe anything.

I wonder if they are making us stick the original budget as we were days away from administration, even if that was to force pure's administrators into selling Phil's shares

What would be the justification for doing that though? The players were paid (unlike Wigan), agents were paid (unlike Forest), creditors were paid (unlike Cardiff). It would be groundlessly forcing us into a relegation scrap.
