They’re on the up and it brings him closer to being a PL player. Also the fact that a club is spending £6m or whatever is a validation of his worth as a player. No-one is ever going to spend that on Kasumu for instance. I’d say to some people they have a ‘fallen giants’ type aura because they were down in league 2 and spent a fair bit of the 90s in the PL. They outplayed Man U in the cup semi and won it on the 80s. Fallen giants? Not unless you’re over 50. Even then they’re still not in rhe top 3 biggest sides in the midlands. Wolves, West Brom, Villa all bigger. If that's your criteria, they are still arguably bigger than us and on an upward trajector. ...the opposite of as at the point the decision had to be made. .

It is a step up right now. I wouldn’t necessarily say they’re a bigger club than us though and I wouldn’t call them a sleeping giant that’s all. Ipswich is league one were a sleeping giant without question.

A sleeping giant to me has to have been a proven giant in the past. Coventry never have been. They were a first division side that got fewer than 10k in the 80s. Because of their city size they are potentially bigger than Town. But in terms of history they're miles off.

Looks like his assist has helped to get his manager sacked. Seems an odd decision having just thumped Middlesbrough away and beaten Luton at home before last night and Coventry fans don't seem particularly happy about it.

Like any of these player sales, it would be helpful to know exactly how much potential HTAFC income was riding on Rudoni / CCFC future success before I decide how amused to be by this sort of thing.

Spent over £50m on players since the start of last season and out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Robins has just been sacked at CCFC. Rudoni’s backpass more costly than it seemed last night.

Had they won last night they'd have been just 4 points off the play offs (I know, if my auntie had a cock etc..). Point is their season is hardly over and there was probably always going to be a but of a hangover from the end of season run last season of missing out on the FA cup final on penalties and missing out on the play offs. Their fans don't seem happy and that's usually a decent gauge of the decision.

Whether he sold £35m worth of players is irrelevant, he's spent that and more on replacements, which is a huge sum for championship standards and his team are outside the relegation zone on goal difference. They finished 9 points outside the playoffs last season aswell.

having walked out on Town there's a touch of irony that ex Town player Rudoni had a hand in his final demise.... Karma..

League Two to the Championship play offs, an EFL Trophy and an FA Cup Semi Final in the 7 years he was there. Wish we'd had a total failure like that at Town in recent years...

That money has been made available to Robins plus an extra £15m. We're talking about the championship here, not the premier league. Wagner didn't spend £50m in our first premier league season but kept us up. They fell apart with 1 point from the last 18 last season, so he's now got 16 points from the last 60 available after spending over £50m in the championship, yet you can't understand why he's been sacked? 🤔

Must be a reason their fans aren't happy though. They had to replace Gyokeres with those signings as well who is now rated far far higher than £50m.

Sad to see him get the sack. Hes done well there at a club that was a shambles when he took over, but the way football is, as soon as youre not doing well everything already gone is forgotten and you'll be out.
Shame because Ive always had him down as a good bloke with a rare amount of humility, honesty and integrity in a manager ( something I think we have in our own manager just now too)
Doubt he'll be out of work for long.

Ah right so they shouldn't have got in the play offs with 70 points so that season shouldn't count, alright then that makes so much sense 😂 He scored 21 of their 58 goals that season as well so it was a huge chunk of their team they let go. Anyway, doesn't matter what we think we barely watch them, Coventry fans aren't happy with him going which says more than any of us could.

Fuck em shouldn’t be in the championship anyway we’re only promoted because of covid that’s why I was happy the hatters beat them in the final. Having worked in Coventry when they went up from league one illegitimately you’d have thought by their arrogance they’d won the champions league spending £50!

After 15 games that season, they were in the relegation places with 17 points. They always seem to start slowly and then Robins gets them going (as he'd just started to do again this season). It always amuses me that owners and chairman believe that the next manager is sure to be an improvement, as ours did when sacking Buxton, who was followed by Smith, MacDonald, Hand and Ross (who Mick came back to help keep us out of the 4th division). May the same happen to these sky blue twats, except Robins doesn't return to help and they go back to the basement where Robins found them on his second time there).
