Martin Fowler was my first ever 'favourite player' at Town, when I first started watching them. He later moved on to Blackburn, but never really fulfilled his potential. Aldershot away, 1975-76 or 1976-77, can't remember which, but we lost 1-0; Martin Fowler, seemingly playing at left-back, but that might be a false memory, received the ball - in the left-back position - from the keeper and set off running with it. Unbelievably he continued all the way to the edge of their penalty area and poked the ball under the keeper and wide of the post. It would have been the best individual goal by a Town player, certainly the longest uninterrupted dribble, but as it is, there will be fewer people who can remember it than attended the reunion. Given how talented he was, Fowler should have had an infinitely better career than he had, as you point out. htafcokay - might you ask him about it if you see him again, please?

I was at that Liverpool game, think it was 1989. I think that Ian Banks scored one of our goals, definitely a 3-1 win. If Banks played that makes it 1987-88, probably FA Cup 4th Round day, because it was a Saturday and we'd lost in the 3rd Round to City. It didn't do us any good in a most dreadful season. Wasn't there an uneven numbers of teams in the division that season so every team had to sit out 2 Saturdays? I can't recall the reason if there were.

He says, "I don’t remember ever playing left back but the dribble sounds about right 😀⚽️".

Yeah, there were 23 teams in the league that year.

Interesting to hear Steve springs knocking on Tom Johnsons do or, sounds familiar you could never trust a word Tom Johnson said, similier thing happened with me in 76/77 not for first team but ground staff to reserves. What's your name?
