Amongst all the furore around Neil leaving, this seems to have been overlooked somehow. This is a bold statement to make and one which in light of everything that has gone on should give us fans some optimism that the future is very bright!
With a claim like that I cannot imagine we will be appointing a chancer like Ince or Jones.
Should be an interesting ride whatever happens!

Its only words but at least it shows an ambitious intent.
More exciting than hearing them talk about running the club sustainably!

Yes I agree. We have been hit with too much at the same time but I welcomed that comment personally. I’d much prefer to hear that we have some ambition.

I suspect every Championship club is aiming to be in the Premier League. As a statement of intent it is about as meaningful as saying that the club plans to win football matches.

It’s a disgrace! 3 years?! How about having some ambition and going for 2?
Actually fuck that, why not 6 months? Always the little old underdog mentality and I’m fed up with it!

I seem to recall the new owners at Charlton saying the same (or similar).
...and others.
We contributors on DATM should know, above anyone, that talk is cheap.
Let's see what Big Kev delivers?

I like that they are saying it, but the clubs actions in the previous window certainly don’t match up

As I said before, why give a manager who was only expected to last until Christmas the funds to sign players Carte Blanche? New manager comes in with a new style/philosophy wanting different players and all of a sudden that's money wasted that we could have used. I personally expect us to be very active in the January window now.

It's a huge statement.
There's no hiding from that.
It's going to need some serious effort.

Agree but given warnocks remarks in his press conference it sounds like he would have stuck around a year or two why not give him some money to have a go at the premier league if you are really serious about it. Happy to be proven wrong but it’s just talk at the minute hope mr nagle proves me wrong and shows some real ambition with investment in the playing squad under the new man.

More likely to be the Northern Premier League (if its still called that?) Will FFP rules not still apply in January? I would have thought so, so not sure we'll be splashing out much money then either.

Suspect it's because we were incredibly unprepared for the realities of it last time. We were in a position where it took us by surprise, we didn't have a plan, and when we came down it nearly ended in disaster. Aiming for it in 6 months would be brilliant, but the club isn't ready. Top to bottom, we're nowhere near up to scratch. A freak good season would just put us in a league where we're not in a position to compete, and we'd be back down, demoralised, having to start all over again. Having a plan builds readiness for the long-term. Were it to come to fruition, it might be the basis for an extended stay in the top flight of 5+ years, which has to be the aim.

Makes a difference from being told we are an underdog etc.
Love it, 3 year plan and huge words. Got to back it up now with the resources to do it.

I’d be happy to be a solid top 10 Championship club, which seems like it would take a good 3 years…..like the ambition, mind

Sounds positive, but a little suspect as it comes out when they are replacing a manager that saved us last season and after Twittergate. People keep saying we will spend next summer and now you are bringing it forward to January. All this based on nothing more than hope.

Nice to see the ambition. A bit better than a consistent top 30 club. Let’s hope it works out better than that!

Talk is cheap, and after but comes the bullshit. I think with this squad and an out and striker to add to our mix neil would give it a good go. Giving him money to buy players who wed need to shift in 12 months makes no sense either.
Now we play wednesday and see what they come up with to see if they are serious.

If Nagle wants Town to be self sufficient (as we all should really) then he won't get an easier/better way of doing this than Town being in the Premier League.
Championship teams haemorrhage money, as do vast majority of Premier League clubs but I think Town's last and probably only profitable seaon in the last three decades was the 2017/2018 campaign in the Premier League.

Personally I think its a ridiculous thing to say - Premier League in 3 years. He doesn't have enough money to bring in a whole new squad of top end chmpionship players, and even if he did, there is no guarantee they would want to come play for us. Most players are on 2 year contracts, so they will be gone before we hit the three year mark. Just staying in this league will be enough for me, with steady progress season on season.
