I think we dithered a lot in the summer
Decided to keep Warnock as a short term option. Allowed him to move out coaches like Nacho (we don't look as good on set pieces) and Clement (we've had good goalies for seasons while he's been in here) and then bring in Warnocks team on a 1 year deal on best (to match Warnocks contract)
Then we didn't really back Warnock, we loaned out strikers and never got one in!
To say in the summer we signed Maxwell (sub), Edwards (a League one player), Wiles (injured) and Dela (on loan) ... rank poor
Players like Hungbo moved on and most would have loved him to come back just to add to the frustration
I just think that July, August and September period was complete dither and indecision and sadly KN (who has been transparent and put his money were his mouth is) is ultimately the captain of the ship and responsible. Contrast January (when he was around asking the hard questions) to the summer and it's chalk and cheese
Moore was then the result of that summer. Decent record but not the right man and on a hiding to nothing as most fans wanted Warnock to stay
If we go down the responsibility rests with everyone; players, Chairman, CEO, DoF, Managers, coaches ... with the exception of Helik and a few of the players no one else has executed there duties well in the last year. C grades and downwards to the rest

Just said he would have helped Plymouth out on the radio if they had asked (thank god they didn't), then went onto say he's retired again for good this time. Although we all know he will be somewhere next season. Warnock at Plymouth would have increased our relegation liklihood even further.

Think it would have been the final nail after Rowett went to Birmingham, stunned Plymouth haven't got him, would have locked in the bottom 3 for me.

According to the Yorkshire Post Warnock has said he's officially retired. So he'll be off to Plymouth next week I imagine

Heard an amusing tale this evening of Warnock getting Andy Booth his first proper contract. Asked Boothy what signing on fee he wanted, 3k was the answer.
Warnock’s solution was to ask for 5k to go to Andy Booth who then in turn gave Warnock 2k. The sort of old school shit that was normal in the 80’s probably looked down upon from our current regime.

I'm at the point now where I'd be surprised if ongoings like that didn't happen last season, especially with a certain Danny Ward

Said it before I’ll say it again..
The problem for me was keeping Colin on in the summer..
It was a lazy appointment which showed no ambition or foresight..
All the other things snowballed from that decision..
I think AB will prove to be a good choice..
Hope he stays if the worst happens..
🤞

They recognised they needed to keep him on in order to consolidate and avoid another struggle until Kevin had his feet under the table. Unfortunately some fuckwit(s) then decided we were actually in a position of strength, the squad was brilliant and any old manager would do.

But where I agree with royrace is once that decision was made, bloody stick with it til everything's sorted behind the scenes, within the squad and financially. Instead we got the clash of egos, the (alleged) back dealing shenanigans, waste of transfer and wage budget on Colin's son and other favourites and then the disaster that was Darren Moore.

Neil Warnock, chuckling away to himself in his rocking chair in Devon, thinking “how the fuck did I get away with all that then”…
He won’t be alone in his shenanigans. But the game was better with these mavericks and characters. I always used to like Dave Basset.
Can you imagine one of the bigger broadcasters employing Paddy Kenny and Jamie Vardy as their main pundits in yrs to come?

They only employ vanilla style pundits like Jenas, Shearer, Richard’s, etc.

I was fine with him staying on, I thought it was a good idea. It gave us time to work out where we wanted to go, who to hand it over to and what the structure should be. We then got rid of him for Darren Moore. That was the total fuck up. It made no sense to do it after the window shut but well before the next window. Sacking Warnock for Moore is one of the worst decisions this club has ever made.

I think we can all read between the lines that there was more to Neil leaving than recruiting from a position of strength.
No doubt it will have been his love for a pound note above anything to do with football. No amount is ever enough for some folk.
No one comes out of it with any credit. Could have left a hero, now everyone doesn’t know what to think.

Whatever.
If it was a good or bad decision we had plenty of time to fix the issue if the folk in charge could see or understand what they were dealing with. To continue making poor decisions and then making even worse ones have left us sitting on the edge of a drop to the third level.
We just need a plan the rescue us, staring with replacing the dross that KN put in charge asap.
We then need to hope that the new lot have a plan as to what kind of team they want to build and know how to do this. Ideally they are already looking at the mess that is Town and are putting plans in place on what they think needs to be done as soon as the season is over.
The summer break may be too short to get us ready for the new season if we are not ready to change that quickly.
