WOW.... Shambles. That's an utterly ridiculous appointment. Took Wednesday down from this league last season and slated by the fans unanimously on owlstalk. We traded in Warnock so that we could secure DM?!!!!! I'm actually really angry at this. First the failed transfer window, now this. That's 2 our of 2 you've failed at Nagle!!!!! Well that's sealed it - I now couldn't be happier with Darren Moore now this fruitcake hates it

The OP is a WUM.
Registered yesterday.
His first posts claim it’s Rooney.
Later posts claim it’s Moore, with a faked tweet from Nixon.
Got to be a Beeston fan.

Not saying it's not true but people have to remember that according to a lot of articles, fans insider knowledge and journalists we were signing junior hoilett. Did we? No. Yet absolutely nobody had a clue about Tom Edwards. This new regime keeps things under wraps pretty well so let's see if it is Darren Moore or not. Tom Edwards has been a poor signing.

I'm underwhelmed if it is Darren Moore, I don't necessarily think he's a bad appointment, I just feel like we could have done so much better. Especially when we're moving Warnock out sharpish for him too.
Now we could definitely have done worse than Moore and I hope he's successful but really it's just a middle of the road appointment

Well he was obviously telling porkie pies wasn’t he. Good start. Was he? I see a few posters quoting JE in the press conference. *If it is DM he may have only recently become available due to clauses in a previous contract. So the information coming out of the press conference wasn’t wholly misleading. Desert Storm IS Sir Humphrey Appleby 🙄

These threads blow my mind. Why wont people just believe the official story on this. Warnock was only willing to sign for one season, TEMPORARY manager. As a result the club immediately started looking for the right person to be permanent. They think they have found that person sooner than they thought they might so Warnock followed through with the agreement to leave. He probably gets his entire contract paid out. He was a little disappointed because he has enjoyed his time and thought it would take until at least Christmas. There DOES NOT have to be a scandal brewing somewhere. It was never a choice of Warnock long term or someone else, it was always the case that we needed to replace him by the end of the season.
Obvious from the presser they think they have their man, he was spoken about pretty specifically as someone who has coached all the way from youth, reserves and first team squads. Another reason i dont think its Rooney because i dont think he has done that.

If you're going to slag him off even before he starts, get you fact right first. He joins Wednesday in March 2021 and missed a fair chunk of that season as he got Covid and then pneumonia and unsurprisingly they were relegated. He had two seasons in League 1 getting to the playoffs in both. Getting 85 points in the first season and 90+ in the second when they were promoted. He also had win percentage of over 50% in 129 games.

For those that are so against this new manager. Take a minute to look at this record and ask yourself why you're so against it?
2017/18 – West Brom. Premier League. Took over from Pardew on 2 April with them 10 points from safety. Went unbeaten in April, beat Man United away, won PL manager of the month. West Brom get relegated still.
2018/19 – West Brom. Championship. 4th in the league with 10 games left. Gets sacked. West Brom go on to lose in play offs.
2019/20 – Doncaster. League 1. Season gets stopped early due to Covid. Donny miss out on play offs narrowly on points per game.
2020/21 – Doncaster. League 1. Wins manager of the month in September and January. Win every single game in January. Gets headhunted for Sheff Weds.
2020/21 – Sheff Wed – Champ. Takes over in March with Wednesday in relegation zone. Misses a number of games due to getting Covid, and then pneumonia. Wednesday go down.
2021/22 – Sheff Wed – League 1. Great finish to the season taking 16 points from 21 to get Wednesday to 85 points and in the play offs. Lose over 2 legs to Sunderland.
2022/23 – Sheff Wed – League 1. 20 games unbeaten. Sheff Wed tail off at the end of the season but finish on 96 points. Highest ever points tally in EFL to not get promotion. Come back from 4-0 down in play offs. Win at Wembley.

Another reason i dont think its Rooney because i dont think he has done that. I honestly think people just enjoy going off on one.. and their football club provides them with opportunities to. Like you say, Warnock's sad because he was enjoying working with this squad of lads and still fancied doing it for another couple of months yet. But he'll have insisted on a 1 year contract for this eventuality...so he gets a full years pay when we replace him with a permanent manager, even if its as early in the season as this. He's clever old sod is warnock..after Nagles tweet after the Norwich hammering he was going on about the weakness of squad and all the players he wanted that we didnt end up getting....now hes going this squad is one of the best in the division and should be competing for a play off spot!

If it is indeed Darren moore he might turn out to be a successfull appointment. Hopefully, as mentioned a couple of times earlier he has done OK at West Brom, Doncaster & Sheff Wed. 2 of them were relegated under him.

I honestly don't understand the overwhelming negativity here, just who exactly were folk expecting to come in? While it may not be the most expansivev data set, his (Moore's) record isn't bad at all, and he has done very respectably in some awkward circumstances.
Wednesday are an absolute basket case of a club right now, and have been for a while, despite that he still managed to get them promoted.
We are still clearly in a very chaotic, transitionary phase off the field, so a manager who has a reputation of just knuckling down and cracking on with the job, whilst also continuing the togetherness and positive ethic that Warnock has brought back to the dressing room, is exactly what we need right now.
If it is him, I wouldn't at all be surprised if he comes with Warnock's recommendation.

I bet that took some negotiations to land him. He'll be laughing his cock off. Fucking clueless appointment if true. The jury is still out on the new owner & his overpaid advisors. I'll watch with anticipation on the envitable future cock ups & cheap talk. What a stupid post.

I know you win nothing by being a nice guy but it won’t do him any harm. Ternant, Clark, Fotheringham, Siewart we’re never going to win the fans over, even if they hadn’t been shit.

Nothing personally against Moore, but if Warnock isn't retiring they should have kept him. Strange ! Because he would ONLY sign for ONE year. He wasn’t even sure about that. They were looking for someone long term as a result. Warnock is saying he is not retiring because he enjoyed his time and thinks someone may come in for him again in the New Year to try to save them. People need to just get over it. Neal Warnock long term was NEVER an option.

What i don't get or understand is the fact didn't Jake Edwards say it was an overseas Manager with a track record or did i get that wrong ? if so darren moore isent a foreign overseas manager and if its him why didn't they bring him in when it was the international break ? Is darren moore any better than warnock or any sort of upgrade no, is he the 1 to get us to the premier league in 3 years no, it all just doesn't scream a darren moore appointment otherwise surely Jake is lying to us already and gone for a cheaper option.

Nothing personally against Moore, but if Warnock isn't retiring they should have kept him. Strange ! When he says he isnt retiring he means he'll be prepared to go to some struggling club next February and get them out of the shit. he doesnt mean he wants to be a permanent manager here or anywhere else. Do people really think new owners are going to come in, set up a new board of directors, then reject their manager of choice so they can carry on with a 74 year old temporary manager for a few weeks longer?
