Respect. It was strange we could have been 2-0 up but got stuffed. The other games were close also. I remember the Cup games. It was a freak result but then again, maybe it wasnt... we were on a downward spiral. And beating them 1-0 at home, in the league. Carl Madrick's only Town goal.

Mmmm... i remember a broken bottle coming my way ... thankfully it missed me and hit the Police Officer on the shoulder... cant remember the win... but do remember seeing Gladstone and the boys there... Gladstone, that's a name from the past and he always had his Beret on. I remember going to the old Main Road in the 83/84 season when we won 3-2 but that walk back to Piccadilly station was very dodgey to say the least. Back then, it was a walk back to Victoria to get the train to Huddersfield. Very dodgy though.

I remember Gladstone very well...particularly a midweek game at Cambridge around 83 or 84 when he took advantage of some lax segregation in the gents to scare the bejeezus out of the locals by repeatedly finding his way to their side of the fence & all 6-foot-whatever of him stood there waving & chanting Town songs. The last time I spoke to him was up Riddings way when he told me he was being deported. Definitely great days though while they lasted.

The deportation was down to the fact that he arrived on a student visa to go to Tec but never went.

Me and our lass ended up in a pub in Norwich for a couple of hours with mad Pete . It was the Saturday night after a game and he'd got split up from a group of lads he'd been with . He had us both in stitches , completely mad but funny as fuck . I knew one of the lads he'd been with and rang him to ask where they were as Pete wanted to join back up with em . He said it was a bad line and hung up 😁.. We left Pete chatting up a couple of women , so god knows what happened to him that night..

Couple of weeks time City will try to emulate Town by becoming the best club team in the world, a name that was labelled on our treble winning champions in the 1920's.
Mind you Man City were a bit of a thorn in our side back then & when we drawn together for the 4th round in 1926 were the only side in five attempts (all draws) not beaten by the elect thrice champions.
Maine Road was packed to the rafters with one of biggest ever crowds at the ground (74,799) to witness a rampant City hammer Town 4-0, a week later at the same venue Town finally nailed them with a sweet revenge victory of 5-1 to take top spot in the league.......The crowd was 36,645, where were the other half? Shows how immense the 'Magic of the FACup' was in those days & no players were rested.

It wasn't Dean or even Sue's policy.......Thanks to SJ we never lost in the ballot, I don't think we were the only ones. . I’m going to Millwall and Norwich this month and followed town relentlessly over the years away from home for god knows how many years ( but didn’t have 10 years continuous ST sales behind me) so missed many games in the prem away and never once won the ballot its this sort of shit that proper makes you realise the club as a policy of not really giving two shits about fairness it’s more like corporate business who you know rather than being fair. Hearing shit like that makes you realise how under appreciated as a fan you are . I had similar with kids signed up as junior members in the B&W club over many years to get them in the queue for being mascots. Being well aware there was only a small chance of them ever getting in, so never really thought much about it along the way, but when they got to what would have been their final season age wise of being able to do this and I'd heard the entire seasons mascot picks had been allocated, I asked if they were on for any games as I happened to be match ball sponsoring a game and was in and around the office beforehand...the answer, "oh, they're not on the list and never have been". Meanwhile, a players kids were mascots that very day (who could quite possibly have been members of the B&W Foundation, but it all seemed a bit "you scratch mine" to me). I cancelled my B&W Foundation membership.

Town being a good example and like us many clubs record crowds were cup games. Now of course its the other way round. Fans dont care about the cup, probably because their clubs dont care about it. Its seen as an inconvenience, something you are forced to negotiate and hope to not pick up injuries or suspensions in. Dont think ive bothered going to a FA cup game since Wagner played the reserves in the 5th round. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me in terms of my enthusiasm.

Even in the 80's/90's, I know I would ENSURE I went to cup games, I guess they were the chance to go and see a team from a higher division, when football was a lot less visible barring a few highlights on Match of the Day (that I never watched) and the occasional "Big Match Live"...those cup games against clubs like Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers & Palace are still memories that stick in my mind - can't really remember any league games from back then. I haven't been to a cup game of any flavour home or away since the recentish replay away at Man City, and I'm someone who would go to an Autoglass Shield/Trophy (or whatever the competition was called at the time) game at Blackpool.

Ditto, went to every home tie the year Colin took us to Wembley and ever since (when we've been lowly enough to compete in it) then too. Plus went to a few YE cup games when I first got back to UK in 93. Needed a Town fix (any fix) after so many years not being able to go. Damn parents not paying for me to go to Leeds Road from Germany, tightwads Also used to go to every home FA Cup, every home League Cup. But my last cup game (I think) was Reading, the year before that City game.

I understand us playing defensively at the league champions it's showing THE SQUARE ROOT OF F*** ALL attacking intent at HULL CITY that boils my p***. PS If you've only been to City three times How on earth did you get tickets in the Prem? I'm guessing but I suggest it illustrates how sh*8te Dean Hoyle's away ticket policy is. The epitome of flogging a dead horse. Will you ever forgive, forget and move on? You'll have to explain to me why this horse is dead Pete. We still have Dean Hoyle's policy so I think any criticism of it is valid and current in the hope somebody at the club sees sense. Judging from some of the posts from Brighousebandbred that you've "Liked" (which basically demand its reversal), I'm not sure even You think it's a good policy (but of course you could never ever criticise Mr Hoyle - even when he's wrong). PS For clarity, I'm not critical of the new owners YET for not reviewing the policy, they've had other issues to deal with & TBH getting an away ticket isn't an issue at the moment (although TBF I wouldn't really recommend it these days if you've a fear of open spaces). PPS Has Dean Hoyle asked for forgiveness? I'd wager he still thinks he's right.

You missed out on a Luton ticket and haven't stopped bleating on about it at every opportunity. Think back to what DH got right, forgive what he got wrong in comparison and choose to be happy

well in 1961 we were a low lying team in division 2 and drew Wolverhampton from Division 1, the cup holders, away....and the rest is history (and I was there....as were the BBC) Maybe we should bring Denis Law out of retirement.
