I might as well be the jinx again… 😉
Nothing but a gallant defeat beckons, regardless of how many players are rested by Man C. Given the fact we might have to name half the ticket office staff on the bench, it really feels like we’ll be viewed as being more than 1 league below Man C.
I just hope that whoever plays, they show some pride and professionalism for the full game, and a bit of bite occasionally.
It feels like more David v Goliath than it should be, but there’s always the chance of some freakish FA Cup romance…
UTT!!!

Where's the option for City slaughtering Town? 50-0 defeat.
I normally stick by my demand that we should always pick our strongest team and try to win but, given the state of our first team squad, on this occasion I would advocate playing the juniors in order to give the first team a chance to get/stay fit and injury-free. Once again we are in a season where league games must take priority and we have to have our best XI fighting fit for every one of those games. Why is it always thus? I am heartily sick of the way that this club has been run (into the ground) over the last five or six years.

Anybody care to explain what this means?!!
"The Football Association have announced a major change to VAR operations for 10 upcoming FA Cup third round ties.
Manchester City host Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with Pep Guardiola’s side starting their defence of the historic trophy, after winning the competition for a seventh time in June.
Ilkay Gundogan scored twice against local rivals Manchester United in the Final, as Manchester City won 2-1 at Wembley Stadium, with the FA Cup trophy one of five trophies claimed by the Blues in 2023.
Manchester City’s meeting with Huddersfield, who are currently 21st in the Championship after suffering a 4-1 loss to Leicester City on New Year’s Day, is one of 32 ties to take place across the weekend, and one of 10 which will involve VAR.
The technology is only used in ties where a Premier League side is drawn at home, with Video Assistant Referees only utilised in the top-flight of English football.
A notable change has been introduced for the 10 games operating VAR across the weekend, with the FA announcing the introduction of the Support VAR role (SVAR), a position not utilised in the Premier League.
An FA statement said: “Support VARs will be in place for the FA Cup third round proper ties where the technology is in operation.
“A role utilised for a number of UEFA, FIFA and other international fixtures, the Support VAR’s duties will include assisting the VAR and AVAR with evaluating incidents and assisting with the communication between the officials.”
Anthony Taylor has been appointed as the SVAR for Manchester City’s tie with Huddersfield Town, operating alongside Peter Bankes (VAR) and Matthew Wilkes (AVAR).
Michael Salisbury has been named as the referee for the match at the Etihad Stadium, with the official having officiated 12 matches so far this season across all competitions, showing 39 yellow cards and no red cards."
Does it mean that they just need even more people to consult before awarding all of the major decisions to City?

Plus they mustn't have been earning owt that game day so the FA have fiddled so someone else can get their nose in the trough.

I’m presuming the VAR thing is them using cannon fodder to trial something, because they’ve realised they continue to make arses of themselves when they use it in the PL?
They should just sack their mates and put independent assessors in there who are tested and clued up to the rules.

I still don’t get some games will have VAR and others won’t! One competition but being played to 2 different sets of rules!

I still don’t get some games will have VAR and others won’t! One competition but being played to 2 different sets of rules! There's nothing to 'get' - it just 'is'. It's grossly unfair because, as you rightly say, it's the same competition run to two different sets of rules/parameters. Almost identical incidents will occur only to be treated differently in games around the country. Imagine going out on the strength of an offside decision so obvious that Blind Pew would have given it, or being denied a stone-wall penalty and then seeing identical decisions being awarded through the use of VAR at the Greedy League grounds. It's just not fair, or right, but should we be surprised? Ask yourself who stands to benefit; clue... Think about where VAR will be used....I Corrupt.

With gate receipts and TV money how much do we think this is worth? £500k? Probably the only positive from this game, hope we spend it wisely on an incoming player.

Our strongest team probably gets knobbed 5/6-0 and with our mass injury crisis I’d pick some young lads and have done with it.
Survival in the League is more important than getting embarrassed and potentially injured.

Bill Hills offering 1/50 on City to win...2% return inside 90mins...buying money
For the fools...Town are 35/1 to win, and 100/1 to scrape a scrappy 1-0

Seven officials will be on hand to make those important decisions that could decide if Town make round four or not (yeh right). Michael Sailsbury (Referee), Richard West & Derek Eaton (Assistant Referees), Leigh Doughty (Fourth Official)......Hold it theirs more, Peter Bankes (VAR), Matthew Wilkes (Assistant VAR) & finally but certainly not least we have FIFA World Cup Ref Anthony Taylor (Support VAR)....Phew, I need a coffee now.
