But for who? I think we can bring in more women supporters, more kiddos, many many more than the diehards that are already present. I promise you music and halftime shows or whatever it will be won’t hurt anyone, and if the performance on the pitch is good everyone wins. In short: why not both? Because they are just gimmicks and are often just cringeworthy. You bring in new supporters by winning games. It's that simple. Whenever the team has been successful, no-one has even mentioned the "matchday experience". Simply because they didn't need to, the atmosphere was buzzing because what we were watching on the pitch was enjoyable. Give us a team that excites us (which at the moment will not take much) and you'll find that the atmosphere improves. Not entirely true. We were successful with Carlos and the atmosphere never hit the heights of the Wagner era. Even the wembley trip was a damp squib. Town (and all clubs) will always have the hardened fans that drink more pints before a game than Wardy scores in a season. The ones that say any change suggested is a gimmick etc. The fact is that nowadays most fans have to justify forking out for a footy game means clubs have to give more back. My daughters aren’t old enough yet to understand the history of the club, or the joy and pain that comes with supporting a team like ours. But what they do know is they have fun at the fanzone. They’re chuffed to bits when they get a picture with a player or an autograph. And they enjoy the entertainment as much, actually probably more than the footy at times. Clubs have to attract and keep the kids like my two involved so theres a fan base that is more than just angry and miserable Middle aged men in the future. N.B. Justaguy, chuffed means happy 😉

Yeah, why not both. I agree. But at the minute, you've got neither. This is the most boring Town team in years. Probably going back to 2008 when Andy Ritchie was here and he actually won far more games than Moore has done, and he also oversaw a good Cup run. And, the only thing that's going to get people into the ground in the first place is a winning team, or at least a competitive team. What you don't want to do is lose supporters, because at Town once you lose supporters, it takes a long time to get them back. And one thing that certainly won't get them back is whacking the prices up next season or even worse, getting relegated. I assure you there is no one there that doesn’t realize results are #1, no ifs ands or buts Yet you persist with one of the worst managers in our history 🤷♂️ Take it from supporters that witnessed various periods of rubbish over the last 50 years. This period is up there with those bad periods. It is just so boring, dull, insipid and uninspiring. I hope it doesn't define the Nagle era, because if it does, that will mean the Nagle era will have been a complete failure. No-one wants him to fail, believe me.

Hope you had a good journey Dave. I’ve said before i find it very disappointing anyone had to name you as a poster but now they have thanks for taking the time to contribute. You’ll never convert some on here. I can see the enthusiasm and commitment coming from the owner. It reminds me of when Dean Hoyle first took over.
I’m new to the NFL this season, it’s got me hooked and keeping stupid hours on a school night. 49ers is where too much of my money is. I think there is lots we can learn from it, not just Town but all the way up to the Premier League.

I love America, met some amazing people & got brilliant memories. I even got to take one of my boys to Brewers games last summer when we won in Milwaukee & Chicago.
As I'm typing the Packers have played the game of their young lives - hope they have something left in the tank for their visit to SF.

I promise you music and halftime shows or whatever it will be won’t hurt anyone, and if the performance on the pitch is good everyone wins. In short: why not both? I think you can do both. You should persist with the lightshow, get a DJ in to warm the crowd up and get some clappers back in the stands. Part of the promotion season was that the team was right on the pitch and the marketing was ramped up off it. Winning is no.1 and the problem with these things us doing them when your losing is harder as fans are looking to pick fault/vent frustration. It's a couple of days after the event, so people are calming down. The over-riding problem with all these plans is that you will never win favour with Darren in charge, there's a saying that the manager has lost the dressing room... well this manager has lost the stadium and you may as well pass this on to kev, history tells us English folk, that there is no-way back, So what's the ultimate hope by keeping him in charge? Whatever sucess he has (which won't be much) won't be done as a stadium as we witnessed under warnock and wagner. You could have implemented anything you like with the right manager. lightshows, cheerleaders, male stripper, nobody would have been bothered as we were as one. So I'd like an answer to the question from Kev... what do you want Darren to achieve here? he's not going to gain any status keeping us up or finishing 16th, that won't win favour with fans, im totally disconnected with the club as it is I no longer listen to news conferences, read articles, heck im even getting to the stadium at 2.55 and leaving on the final whistle. Your right about the product, get the team right, get the matchday experience right. Nobody Will care..... The problem is, Darren can't make me buy into that. When kevs back home, you leave me listening to him, or not in my case. Crowd was bigger this week, abit of positivity from kev and look what happens. Darren was emptying the stands, kev can fill them.. with an absen owner, its important you get someone who appreciates and engages with the fans when he's at home.

After reading all the back and forth comments, I appreciate Justasmithers dialogue and it is great that someone is communicating. Now, matxhday experience for me is all opinions. I do understand why music, light shows etc seem cringe to some people, but the bottom line is, some people like it. All the ideas mentioned, I will admit, I also find a little cringe, and agree that winning games breeds atmosphere and experience. But once again, that it my opinion. I am though, all for the club to introduce other things as for some, it will make their experience better. I really do feel KN and his team are trying, but in any walk of life, some ideas won't appeal to everyone.

I’ve been a big advocate of the clear increase in match day experiences around the ground, specifically pre match, and vocal regarding the absolute need for this. At the end of the day we have to increase revenue. It’s a business. The kids love it, from the fan park, to the kick about, to the guys and girls dressed up taking photos, player autographs etc. The kids that come with us want to get down there early, it’s part of the match day now for us. Not only does it give us all time to spend together which is great, it’s planting a seed for the future. The more people get involved, the better future for the club. The fans who have a pint in town centre, walk to the ground just in time for kick off, moan about the beer on offer, spend nothing, moan about the team, want to spend max £300 on a season ticket…that’s all well and good but don’t harp on about the club spending money, keeping ticket prices low, getting a winning team in the pitch. To be honest, you wouldn’t be my long term target market as a business owner. The future is the kids and a diverse fan base, an income for the club long term. So what if they put on a light show? We aren’t all the Stone Island crew, worried about other clubs perception of us, still stuck in the 80’s/90’s mindset. At the end of the day we aren’t playing well. It won’t last forever. A lot of us have seen this long enough to know football is just a cycle, some years good, some years bad. Yes, there are football questions that need answering. There’s some clear football issues that need addressing. But from a marketing, entertainment and hospitality perspective it’s going in the right direction. Revenue is key.

The crowd was bigger cos of all the free tickets given away ! Give them away. It does no harm, it was an opportunity to put on a show and take it to Plymouth... which died when dazzler decided to picked 8 defenders and played a style of football that can only be described as horrendous. The only thing missing on Saturday was a manager that knows what he is doing. I dont want to bring up warnock, i wouldnt have kept him, but he would have had the squad doubly bang up for this game, no question. I applaud the club for the endeavour they have put into improving match day experience, its a bit of a rabbit and hare situation. They should crack on with the "lightshow" get some fire cannons, give free tickets to kids and poor families etc etc. It does no harm. But they need to get a manager who also buys into that, he will say it was a professional performance to get a draw from a losing position. I would say it was a massive missed opportunity to unite the crowd, old and new behind a new dawn. Moores position is untenable, it's as simple as that. In no other realm of possibility other than stubborn ownership does Moore stay in position.

This. We don’t have the fan base attending and purchasing foods to the greedy league level, and considering the constraints of FFP, we need investment in the team but that cannot purely come from the owners pockets. It’s a cycle, a chicken and egg situation; does the owner throw cash at the team and hope something changes but risk fair play penalties or does he balance investment in the team with structural changes and improving the experience on match days to encourage us fans to sink more £ in too? My kids love going and they’re not little now, but we still buy the odd bit from the shop, have a drink or some fodder. If the fanzone had been around when they were little they’d have loved getting photo’s and autographs from players. Heck, even the 20 something child was a bit wide eyed seeing the two Transformer characters there on Saturday! Personal opinion is that the approach so far is right. Get the off the pitch experience and offering improved alongside the on pitch performance. Fans who want a drink in town and roll in for 14:50 can do so but let the club be pulled into the 21st century, we have to move with the times. The stadium needs a bit of TLC, get a couple of fans pubs - one in town and the Ropewalk, keep the fanzone. Potentially get the stadium into the fold alongside the club with concerts or even comedy shows going on. Revenue can be driven but clearly the council and the way the three owners haven’t worked well together hasn’t promoted that line of income. We can’t forget that the owner is new to these shores and the club. He’s making the right noises and making the right kind of moves so far (in the main - jury is out on certain appointments) compare him to some owners of others clubs, and his interest and passion so far, alongside actively trying to get to know the fans and appreciate the Yorkshire lingo. We can go back to the years of Keith Longbottom and Malcolm McDonald if we stand still, drop down the leagues, or we can get behind someone who so far is trying his best to get his feet under the table and understand the fans (why wouldn’t he - he needs us to attend and pay our £) and look to try be competitive in this league. As always time will tell if this is the right approach or not but let’s give it chance. And fair play Justasmithers from sticking your head above the parapet on here. Be consistent with it through good and bad please. 👍🏻

Pretty embarassing that folk will just shut down new ideas completely with the attitude "it wont work, never has, never will, end of". Yup… And I tell you what, my kids were 6 and 3 during the promotion season and they absolutely loved all the fan zone stuff, Canalside before a game, face painting, penalty shootouts, meeting Terry the terrier etc. My daughter plays u10 football now and some of places she plays at have better facilities than we have at the stadium. Whilst for me I was fine having a piss against a wall back at Leeds Road, times have moved on and a lot of people do expect better. Of course, on the field is the priority and getting that sorted puts everything in a more positive light, but they are absolutely right to get some of the off the field stuff sorted in parallel and try new initiatives. Some will work, some won’t. I’m sure many of the new things won’t really be my sort of thing, but, if others enjoy it then that’s fine by me. Really hoping we manage to get the rope walk sorted out as we’d often come down early for lunch, a few drinks and to watch the early game in there. The new outside fan zone thing would be good in warmer months but a bit limited without a roof in winter or rain.

Give the guy a break he doesn't own the club and has said he has nothing to do with the footballing side of things so saying "YOU persist with one of the worst managers" blah blah is ridiculous. He's not persisting with anyone, from what I can gather he's just trying to learn about the club and fans and what they generally like and dislike and pass on anything he thinks might be relevant. To get battered everytime he posts something is just stupid. Also, how many of us started supporting Town because we were battering teams every week? We were shit when I started, and stayed that way for quite a number of years with crowds less than the 5k mark. It was just the buzz of going to a game and quite often at the start because I might get a wagon wheel and a scolding bovril for my troubles. So if they have a few ideas that might attract a few kids to come more regularly then what's the problem? If a grown adult can put up with it and a few kids or other adults love it then what's the problem really? All just seems like a good excuse to have a moan rather (and to completely the wrong person!) than being anything like productive.

Re the light show… The pre match build up they do at the Sheffield Steelers with music, lights etc is actually pretty cool. I do draw the line though at music after scoring a goal. (Although, we score so few currently that would hardly be noticed!)

I promise you music and halftime shows or whatever it will be won’t hurt anyone, and if the performance on the pitch is good everyone wins. In short: why not both? Firstly, sorry for creating this thread of you think it shouldn’t have been created…… Secondly to your point here, you are spot on - the ‘whole’ experience needs to be looked at; I work in the cinema business, and if you think of the ‘game’ like the ‘movie’ (the main event in the business….) then yes, of course, it is ultimately the focal point and most important thing. However, cinemas that do well, do well because they consider the entire customer journey, from online booking, communications, how to get to the venue, partner programmes, hospitality and experience at the venue, pricing, the quality of the rooms and technology, the after show experience and the customer loyalty……oh…….and then the films…. Cinemas don’t always have the greatest content, but they can survive with any content if they run the business well. However, ‘content is king’ as we say in the business, and it’s ultimately the same in football or any sport. I would massively recommend getting along to a number of Premier League games, particularly the smaller and mid tier clubs. See how they do things. See how that experience is. And do that across the UK as well. If you can, do it as a regular joe customer, not corporate….get a real feel for how is for other clubs…. Glad to have you along for the ride taking Town back to the big time…… Sorry again for starting the thread….

They shouldn't try things, they should just implement them. Lightshow... go for it Self serve beers.. go for it. Clappers, Cheerleaders, DJ, fireworks, fire cannons... just go for it. It's not going to stop anyone going... you might get a bit of banter from Leeds fans who thought the wagner was cringe and now lap it up themselves. Folk wearing cringe stone Island gear don't want fireworks shocker.Football should be enjoyed by everyone.

And nothing more important than on the pitch. That's the immediate concern and the only really important thing that needs fixing. From hearing Nagle's interviews and reading the various things he puts out, I'm not sure he realises this? He seems to have toilets, food, light shows, alcoholic spirits in the ground etc. higher up in the list of priorities than they ought to be. I think this is the big difference between football in England and football in America. In America it is treated far more like an event than it is in this country. People go to the games, they might have a pint or an hot dog, and they go home. It's not such a huge issue here, neither is having posh bogs. In fact, compared some grounds I've visited, the toilets are luxury 😂 Before anyone starts, it's not a dig, just an observation. I think you’re spot on re on the pitch being the fundamental thing. If we win, I don’t care if the toilets are outdated. Being crap (pardon the pun) highlights every issue top to bottom (ok I meant that one). But I do think Kev realises this, he’s said so many times. Keeping Moore in charge is the only caveat to that, it’s proving to be counter intuitive the more the season goes on. The other bits are easier to do and ultimately are aimed to bring in more money which can in turn be spent on the club. I don’t think it has to be either or. The best example I’ve experienced of a game being turned into more of an event is against Brighton down at the Amex stadium a few years ago. Modern concourse, they put up Huddersfield signage, big screens showing the footy, pretty sure they had some of our local ales on, kept it open after the game and it was essentially just as good as being in a pub. If town did this, I would come down earlier and leave later - spending more money in the process. I understand the difficulty with the stadium situation however. The point being - it is possible, but needs major work to achieve it. Just on your point about away supporters at Brighton. I’ve never been, so may be wide of the mark here, but I suspect that’s a captive audience they’ve got there. Why not invest a little if you know you’re going to have a few thousand paying customers hanging round after the game. (owing to the travel arrangements as I understand it?) Would locals stay at Town, for Town themed stuff, when they can head to their local with their pals and have a chat or a moan in the warm, and a bit closer to home? I’m not saying there’s not a need for something, and I’m not really the best person to test the water with on this. I just think the demographics are a bit different as well. What seemed to be quite good a few yrs ago, was having membership based access to Canalside, but then we got all PL and stuff and had to close down what I thought seemed like a good way to demonstrate what we still stood for.

In the promotion season the place was absolutely bouncing. The whole club was vibrant and alive and every game felt like a huge event.
Of course that was because we were winning, but the atmosphere was so much more than that. Having part of the south stand and the Cowshed Loyal in there was huge. The personality of the team was a contributing factor - we didn't have it with Carlos, but we had it with Wagner's team. Think of the Hefele song before kick off, most of the ground probably joined in with the singing.
Hefele was a huge star in that team because of his personality - there were quite a few better players in the team. That, combined with his song being 'orchestrated' over the PA system before the game helped with that and got the kids involved. The kids that won't sing smile awhile before kick off but will love some of that fan zone type experience.
Because of that season we have a far bigger fan base than we used to have. They might not turn up every week, but think back 10 - 15 years ago and 16k was a big turnout. I don't live in the area any more, but I'd wager there are far more school kids that support town than when i was at school 30 years ago, and probably a lot more than there even were 10 years ago.
There needs to be a balance struck, but a bit of the razzmatazz in the right places is what will get some kids enjoying rather than enduring the game, and that's where the revenue is. They'll want the shirts, sweets at half time, bring their mates etc.

Embarrassing to see the guy getting absolutely peppered with these responses. He works in the media back home (radio show) & does similar chats online regarding Sac/Kings plus other topics, says he has no influence or input re; on the pitch......That we should respect. My point was more the people arguing with him and giving him grief for things that are way out of his control.

Again, augmented match day experience and winning on the pitch can both happen. No one is talking about playing Creed songs mid match I assure you. You said you're not trying to Americanize anything, but that's exactly what you want to do. Stuff like this has been tried before at clubs, including Town. It doesn't work, as we're there to watch the football. Do you really think people are going to turn up to watch a light show, or some spectacle before the match? You're 25 years too late as Barry Rubery tried all this when he took over and it soon wore off as football fans in this country just aren't interested. Sort the stuff out on the pitch, give us a competitive team at this level and a manager that tries to win games, and I promise you you'll see a difference. A manager that tries to win games. Bingo.
