No it will obviously be down to the fact that the club shows an interest in fans opinions by asking someone to correspond with them on an internet forum. As if doing so isn’t bad enough by negatively effecting performances on the pitch it also embarrasses some fans (grown adult’s too I’m guessing) What on earth are you talking about. If you actually read the thread and posts your commenting on, you will quite clearly see I made it clear I do not blame him for on field performances. I said I believe what he posts etc is not needed and it is one of many problems resulting in the off field shambles which we have witnessed. I also stated that others may disagree with that, each to their own. Just to clarify for you, I am fully aware the on field problems have nothing to do with him. I also never stated it embarrassed me, but do I think it embarrasses the club and make them look un professional, yes. If you’re going to make posts like that at least read the thread you’re posting on. You complain at me about quality….jesus You are aware I wasn’t replying to you or didn’t even mention you, it was a post in general after reading this thread. Ill give you one thing, you certainly live in the right part of the country.

Hello all Still finding my footing. Generally after a loss, I’ve found that anything I post tends to be taken in the worst way, so I try not to say much. And especially after the weight of yesterday’s result, doubly so. It’s usually either “see you aren’t posting why not” or “STFU dummy” or somewhere in the middle. In the end I’m just going to post with the best of intentions, and let the chips fall. It’s certainly not my place to make grandiose or specific statements about the club and future, so I’ll just speak from the heart- A year ago today I couldn’t have told you where Huddersfield was on the map. Since then it’s up at 4 or 5 am every Saturday, and sometimes during the week. I was in New Orleans last weekend watching my Kings get bounced out of the playoffs, only to wake up the next day to that awful result. And as a lifelong Kings fan I can honestly tell you the football result hurt worse. I’ve gotten to know so many (not enough though) supporters, and the absolutely wonderful people that work at the club (mainly speaking of the “rank and file”. I’ve learned just how much it means, and how it’s so much more than a sport, it’s really quite like a religion. I’ve read some opinions on here about American sports and how it’s different, and I’m certainly not going to get into THAT debate. Do our fans have to be separated at the stadiums and have we had many physical altercations? No, although there’s more violence than we’d like from supporters. I think it’s the same thing anywhere- you have what you call the “happy clappers”, and then you have the fans, short for fanatics. I can tell you me personally- I’m in the latter group. I’ve lived and died for my clubs since I was old enough to know it. My entire week/month/year can rely on failures and successes of my clubs. I once went on an RV trip for a month to 22 NBA cities to drum up support when my Kings were going to relocate to Seattle (lol seriously you can google my name and RV and you’ll see it), and that’s all a bit nutty. Didn’t have a job (had just been fired from the same station I work at now), and I had two young children (both about to head to university, time flies). Is the soccer (football) in America comparable? No, not really. Soccer has always struggled to get a foothold over here, but is actually more popular than it’s ever been. And I’ve played and watched soccer much of my life, but a full year of English football was a completely different experience, one that I’m so happy for. I wear my Town gear proudly around these parts, and love explaining to curious folk what it’s all about. There are a lot of similarities between Sacramento and Huddersfield, which really surprised me. Working class, in the shadows of San Francisco and LA, and full of working class fans who fall in love inevitably NOT with the best players, but the ones that leave it all out there every time. Just a couple of quick truths, take them how you wish: - I really WAS going to work. I often tweet streams of consciousness. But I’d be lying if the tenor of my tweet wasn’t also “(shrugs, head down, sighs Time to go to Work….), because all I could think about was this match, season, and all of you. - Fan appreciation was decided on as a surprise for the end of this year last summer. We’d been planning it. The only other choice was to cancel, but in the end we would’ve been depriving 15 supporters of gifts because we didn’t want to get made fun of. So we went on with it. And will do it again same time next year. And the “bam bam sticks” (we call them thunder sticks) same thing. Planned a long time ago. - As far as hearing from Kevin, he’s actually done his diaries and tweets more after losses than wins/ties believe it or not. He’s not one to run from criticism. He knows as well as i anything said yesterday would’ve just been a lightning rod, and even without saying much the blowback has been massive, and that’s fine. That’s the big boy chair, you take the good with the bad. But I assure you he will be speaking after the final match. I assure you it will be a long, detailed conversation about this season and the summer to come. I’ve seen a few “diaries are pointless you’re his mate you don’t ask tough questions”……which I of course disagree with. Yes they’re usually casual and sometimes lighthearted (not this time), but we’ve covered quite a bit of serious ground, so much so that some people have shared they wish he WASNT so transparent. When we get close, I’ll start a new thread here and ask YOU to leave some questions, and I’ll ask them. Probably not all, as it won’t be a 6 hour blog. But I won’t cherry pick, and I’ll do the best I can to get the toughest ones in. Of course, “are you an absolute moron idiot” probably won’t make the cut, but tough, legitimate questions will. Yes, some of the things here but mainly on social media are tough to read. There’s no chance I can match any of the history all of you have with the club, but I CAN say we now live and die with the results, much more than any other teams we’ve rooted for our whole lives. And to those saying very nice things in my defense, of course I appreciate that very much. And to the ones that think I’m a big clown donkey, I appreciate you too. I AM a big clown donkey, but I wear my heart on my sleeve and will always be transparent and honest. And if coming after me in any way gives anyone any sort of feeling for the good , I say have at it. Truly. I can only say we are all in this together. I’m hooked. He’s hooked. The hard working people at Town that live and breathe this are hooked. It’s not acceptable. Excuses are worthless. Platitudes are pointless. All that matters is you having the type of club that you can be proud of. It’s not simple, but it’s really simple if that makes sense. I appreciate you all so much, and I’m happy to speak for KN when I say he does too. Take care. Time to go to work. Wish I could like this post more than once. You've clearly got the Town bug, Dave, it doesn't matter how long you've been a fan, you're one of us now. Kick a man while he’s down why don’t you 😉🤣

Reading the post from Justasmithers, reminded me that next season we HAVE to play the Iron Maiden track whenever KN is at a game.

I appreciate you all so much, and I’m happy to speak for KN when I say he does too. Take care. Time to go to work. Personally I think that this is refreshing. How many other clubs have an almost direct feed in to the fan base? Not many I’d guess. Dean Hoyle used to do question and answer sessions when times were good, but became a recluse when times got tough. There was total radio silence for 12 months before KN bought the club and those times were dark. Phil Hodgkinson was happy to speak to the fans too, until his lies unravelled and the criticism came. Then he was never to be seen again. Now is the time for KN to create a real bond with supporters. But it starts with acknowledging that the club has caused its own downfall this year. Cartwright’s summer and January business was terrible. Sacking Warnock was terrible. Darren Moore was terrible. Not keeping Worthington on until the end of the season was terrible. If there are bad eggs in the playing squad, they should have been left out completely. While we’re at it, ‘Robert’ the DJ is also absolutely terrible at helping to create an atmosphere. The club just hasn’t got a clue at the minute. So, maybe ask Kev to start by addressing the above? This summer is a big one. No excuses about being ‘the underdog’ or ‘the working class club’ or not having the financials to be a big player in the division. Next season our recruitment must be top notch. Our squad must give 100% every game. Our manager must own the dressing room, not the players. Most of all, we must win the league. No excuses.

Great Post to be fair from the heart.
For me I want these issues addressing.
I want to hear KN admit his errors as it takes a real man to admit his f ups. Warnock was sacked at the wrong time, DM was kept on too long.
Edwards and Cartwright are keeping their heads belows the bullets whizzing about, you don't hear from these clowns. I want them sat there in a presser explaining (If they still have a job) how they are going to sort it for next season.
IMO we need to have a good clean out and actually get players in who give a shit.

I like You and Kev, Good sorts and something to build around.... unfortunately everyone and every decision has been poorly advised, you probably should have listened to Warnock and Anne rather than Cartwright and Edwards. If Sac is really like Huddersfield then you will know the people cannot be hoodwinked. Hardworking characters will always be appreciated above talented knobheads... and pretending to be clever really is a fucking red flag. If Captain Kev believes Cartwright is the messiah reincarnated.... he will never be accepted by the fans because he doesn't fall into the hardworking character group and also waves red flags every time he speaks. First step is to use those people that care and that have an IQ at least into the +ve numbers. Kev has been hoodwinked, had his pants pulled down and generally made to look a fool by the people he trusted. Its probably easy to hide that from 5000 miles away, but the truth is always available on DATM and usually the employees including players of the club leak the real feeling within the club about the ability and professionalism of individuals under the cover of a spurious username.

Just think how (more) sweet the success will be when Kevin and his team (inc. you!) can be part of the rebuild. Starting at the foundations and building something that is lasting and successful. Shame we are not starting that build from the second division but the further we climb the sweeter that will be. It’s been an awful season - one of the most frustrating - but as they say, onwards and upwards! Things can only get better. Hopefully. UTFT and thanks for the interaction on here, anyone with a brain cell appreciates it

Regarding social media.
Kevin Nagle has just tweeted something about Kieran Phillips making a good start at Sacramento Republic, scoring two on his debut. Town fans spitting the dummy out.
"Read the room".
What fucking room? Granted, the fortunes of a failed youth product here aren't right at the top of the priority list for most Town fans on the day we got relegated, but KN has more than one club to deal with.
Embarrassing use of social media? Maybe some town fans ought to look a little closer to home.

Embarrassing use of social media? Maybe some town fans ought to look a little closer to home. Sadly as with most things in this country (and as always) the vocal minority should loudest and find the way to make their voices heard above all else. The skill in life is drowning out the opinions and finding your own way of sourcing what you believe to be right, and standing by that when the din dies down.

I enjoy having Dave on here. He’s primarily seeking to understand us better, why on earth would that be a bad thing?
I’ve lived in the States for over 20 years. Americans take some getting used to, but that doesn’t mean they’re not genuine. There are plenty of sports fans here for whom it’s only a form of entertainment and they don’t let it ruin their whole weekend. And there are those people in England as well. But that’s not everybody. You’d be wrong to assume no American understands what football means to us.
They don’t have relegation, but they have something worse: franchise relocation. Ask any Wimbledon fan how much that hurts! Or look up the story of the Cleveland Browns from the 1990s.
While you’re at it, look up the story of the Boston Red Sox who became baseball champions in 2004 for the first time in 86 years. The Red Sox history has a lot of parallels with Town - world beaters in the early 1900s, shite for most of the next century. I was lucky enough to be here to see what that meant to their long-suffering fans. People that had had season tickets for 10,20,50 years and hadn’t seen their team win. Stories of people who first went to a game with their dad or grandad who didn’t quite live long enough to see it happen. Sounds a bit like being a Town fan in May 2017 doesn’t it?
It matters to people, and at the heart of it, it matters for the same reasons. They just do it a bit differently. People who drive their SUV to the ground and have a BBQ aren’t doing it because they don’t care all that much. That just happens to be how they practice THEIR religion. It took me a long time to understand that.
I’ve seen enough of how Americans operate to know this: these guys care, and they are trying. There are plenty of foreign football owners who I can say neither of those things about.
Yes, there have been big mistakes made this season, mostly regarding managers. If those mistakes had not been made we might have stayed up. Or we might not, because frankly our squad is the second worst in the division, and that’s been in the making since long before Dave and Kevin had ever heard of Huddersfield.
Regardless, we have no choice but to give them a chance to put it right.

Hardworking characters will always be appreciated above talented knobheads This is bang on. I can tolerate (not accept, but tolerate) defeat more if the players give their all, even if they're not very good players, and are just beaten by better players, a better team. If you won't give your all, you're not welcome. I can't remember the exact saying, but the saying I'm thinking of is basically along the lines of a hardworking team of lesser players can beat a team of more talented players who play as individuals rather than as a team. We haven't had enough hardworking players playing as a team.

Part of the problem is that they could explain or answer every question that is asked but there will always be a group of individuals that will say they are not being honest etc etc. I’m not sure we need to know or should know private conversations that have gone on in decision making. This summer is crucial. I will be much happier if we hear nothing from them but at the first opportunity we have we get some good quality signings through the door early enough to get a proper pre season. It’s time for action and not mere words.

Why does everybody keep saying the January transfer business was shocking? Granted we needed another midfielder but given how extortionate the prices are in January I think we did well to get Healey who I think has been decent for us and will piss league 1 with the right service. Bojan looks a decent player and a summer in the gym should have a massive impact. Balker is a baller but unfortunately got injured...these things happen and Matos was easily our best midfielder post January.
I would actually try to keep Matos for another year. I worry that Balker will leave but if he does we need to make sure we get every penny back that we spent on him. A few outs are predictable but let AB bring his own players in and get of the shit and we should be decent next season.

Great words.
I’m sure hands will be held up and a full appraisal conducted.
Everyone makes mistakes, it would be far worse to have a vacuous, insipid owner. I hope KN comes out swinging, more motivated than ever to ram our criticisms down our throats.
What we need more than anything is some character. Some fire. Some passion. Make the wrongs right, sell a vision and try put some pride back on the pitch and in the stands.
I may be daft as a brush but I think next season may just be one we talk about for many years.
Huddersfield Town will fucking rise again.

I couldn't believe we weren't in the bottom 3 in January after being so dismal for so long but was convinced after bringing those players in we would be fine. I guess the learning is that bringing in players who haven't being playing much and/or have never played in England in January is a massive risk. Biggest mistake we keep making is having a shit pre-season where we don't have a manager and haven't made signings beforehand. It's no coincidence that the only times we have done it right in recent years have been the 2 that we made the play offs.

What is interesting is how constructive, as well as being critical, the posts have been. I think that needs to be taken and respected.
As much as we are all frustrated at where we find ourselves I am heartened that people want to see us fight back and believe we can. It also lays to bed that suggestion that our expectations are too high because we've been in the Premier League. We're far from happy but we don't have that entitled attitude of some other clubs. I'm certain we will respect League One but believe we can do better too.
It's important we keep believing and challenging Mr Nagle and team to be better.
If those in charge think they're getting a hard time I can think of many clubs where it would have been a whole lot worse. I don't see that as acceptance but more as a rational and intelligent reaction. It's a positive that needs to be respected by those in charge.

A few outs are predictable but let AB bring his own players in and get of the shit and we should be decent next season. Balker? Injured a lot. Maybe he'll be great after a proper preseason. Maybe he'll put his injury woes behind him. Might prove to be a decent long term option but we needed a short term boost. Healey? Done well when he's been fit. Injury prone though, and expensive. Should be very useful in Lg1 (if we can keep him fit!) but we needed someone for the Championship. Radulovic? Hadn't played for months, and when he did it was in a far less physically demanding league at a much lower level. Essentially a project player, when we needed somebody to come in & hit the ground running. Matos was OK. Not brilliant, but the best outfield player we signed this season. 4 signings, only one had any semblance of an immediate impact - and the problem of the lack of a creative midfielder was not addressed. The three who are still here might be brilliant next season - but that window can't be classed as a success because we didn't address the problems we had. Primarily though, it's not the quality of the window so much as the back of a coherent plan to base it on. That's the first thing we need. We need a long term strategy. An identity. A way of playing and the whole club set up with that identity in mind. Up to now the whole running of the football side has been reactive, with no forward planning whatsoever.

Respect for Dave’s reply
They are on a learning curve but we’re paying a price for that
However I hope in that learning process they’ve also learned :
1. Town fans can spot bullshit a mile off. Be upfront and honest about plans and mistakes and you will be respected. No more ‘from a position of strength’ bollocks
2. There’s a lot to be said for the majority view on here. Most have been watching for years and know what they’re taking about
3. Learn to ignore the most vicious of fans, there’s some right nutters around
4. Not many fans doubt the good intentions of the owners, and the investment is valued, but the decision making has been terrible. More of that and we’ll go down to league 2

Reading the post from Justasmithers , reminded me that next season we HAVE to play the Iron Maiden track whenever KN is at a game. I thoroughly agree

Spoke to you earlier in the season outside ground, you come over as a likeable chap and reading posts like this will endear you too our fan base even more . Once you get this club in your blood it’s there for life . I have passed it down to my children and expect them to do so one day . I have a good feeling about KN , he will be loved like no other in this great town if he brings us a hint of success. Good luck. By the way once it’s in your blood ( the time you’ve supported HTFC is irrelevant,) we are all one and in it together.

Whatever your views on our owner and his entourage, nobody can say Justasmithers hasn't bought into Town. If you look on his Fakebook (just started following him after a mate sent me a link) there's no doubt he's very much become one of us. Apart from the doggie and family pics, most other pics he's sporting either a Town hat or a Town jacket.
