All this slating of Ladapo is crazy IMO, and to say he looks levels below Harratt is laughable. Harratt will have nowhere near the career Ladapo has had, he can't even get in L2 Fleetwood's team. What Kev needs to be doing is asking why players like Ladapo, Evans, Sorensen etc who have all had either good long careers or who were players of the season at their clubs last season are all of a sudden looking like non league players. Something's clearly wrong but maybe it's just too easy to blame the players. It's fair to say Ladapo 'was' a decent player. But it's possible with age he's lost what he had. We were hoping his spell at Charlton was an anomaly. But it doesn't look that way. Maybe he just needs more game time to get sharper. It wouldn't be the first time we've signed a previously good player a couple years too late. I think this is the point. It's difficult to say at this stage whether Ladapo's struggle to make an impact so far is because he's past it, or because he just needs a bit of time to get sharper. Puncheon and Unsworth are two players who had great careers, but we're shite by the time they'd come to us. But Harratt really needs to excel at Fleetwood if he's going to get a chance here. The fact he's only on the bench there does not support the argument that we should have kept him here, even if Ladapo proves to be a failure.

I saw a photo yesterday of the Aston Villa tunnel with a replica of their Champions League trophy stood proud in the middle where the teams line up.
Thought it was a good idea and must give the Villa team a little boost in confidence to know the club can compete with Bayern Munich.
Got me thinking about little things to help try to change the mentality at our club.
Couple of thoughts. The team should see our trophies before entering the pitch. Could put one in the tunnel or changing room or simply let them hold one and have the history told in the boardroom ahead of the games. If we include Division and playoff wins, charity shield etc then we have a good inventory to work through up to January.
The players could do with reminding we haven't always been such a loser club and what others have achieved here.
Then for Nagle an opportunity to write his name into the history. Think we only have 3 gaps in our domestic trophy cabinet. The EFL cup (Paint Pot Cup), League 1 winners Trophy and the League Cup.
I'm not 100% ruling out promotion (or relegation) this season, but they are looking unlikely. I think instead Nagle could see this as an opportunity to have a good go at filling 2 of those trophy gaps. 2 chances at EFL cup and 1 next season at Div 3/league 1 Champions.
Can start this on Tuesday by taking the EFL cup a bit more seriously than we normally do. Play the younger players if needed, Iorpenda, Chapman etc, but put more preperation and effort into those games than the zero we seem to do. Nagle to offer a bigger win bonus each game or some other reward, Duff to guarantee that if they play well they keep their place in the next league match.
I don't normally care about the EFL cup, but it is a realistic trophy for us, a gap in the collection, one we can only compete for while we are in the lower leagues, a game the opposition often don't take seriously and a chance for the fans to have a good day out in semi finals, finals should it work.

Id settle for a couple of back to back league wins personally! We've won 13 in 55 - thats a complete embarrassment right now and needs putting right. No longer can we settle for mediocrity and expect 16/18k fans to turn up and watch without murmur. Folks are voting with their feet - Sat could be stark if my straw poll amongst mates is anything to go by cos lots simply cant be arsed to go! Undoubtedly patience was and might still be needed given the mess we are in - but folks wont put up with being outrun and outfought any longer.

I don't buy this losing mentality crap. It should be possible to eradicate it quickly, especially when replacing half the first team.
Excuses is what it is, same as last season when they all blamed Warnock's pre season. Absolutely laughable but lapped up by the owner and plenty on here.
We don't need a Steve black type, we need the coaching team to motivate and the DoF to provide the necessary tools for success instead of looking for excuses all the time.
How long did it take Warnock to change the mindset? A few weeks? Enough said.

I’m trying to put to one side, for the moment, the last 6 or so years, and just look at this season on its own. We were always going to have a shit run at some point, not expected to be this shit or for this long but it is. We need a turnaround NOW. We can turn this tide with a couple of wins on the bounce, get some confidence back and get some wins on the board. But the days are ticking away and in 2 weeks time it’s either going to be real low times or turn a corner and go full pelt for the remainder of this season.

But you could say the same about Duff at the start of this season. We started off the season in a positive way, the issue has been once we lost it's been difficult to stop losing. Apart from when Bolton essentially gave us the game on a plate and we were good enough to take it from them. I think I'd be looking to get rid of ALL senior players in either January or the summer. They've all been here too long and most aren't, or shouldn't be first choice now anyway.

Not got much for Saturday either. Best I can imagine now is we start to get a grip on everything. Win against some of the weaker teams. Get the stadium deal done. Have an ok January window and a good summer one. Then next season can be the one we hoped for. Obviously need to start winning matches soon, but win or lose on Saturday, important imo we don't slack off on Tuesday. Good opportunity to either keep momentum going or start it in a cup no one cares about. Reframe the messaging on it internally from an inconvenience to an opportunity.

I don't buy this losing mentality crap. How long did it take Warnock to change the mindset? A few weeks? Enough said. I think Warnock got in to their heads by saying they were good players and not to worry about mistakes. Go out there and enjoy it. He didn't over complicate the system being played and didn't publicly throw the players under the bus when things went wrong.

Interestingly enough following on from the Z, Zee, Zed conversation elsewhere...about 10seconds walk away from this picture is a sign that refers to the SIDEWALK (as opposed to pavement). Anyone know why the americanism appears - it always seems odd to me!! << google streetview link >>

I use it when I'm berating wanker cyclists flying along the pavement; I tell them it's a sideWALK or a FOOTpath, not a fkn cycle path This conversation has gone round and round previously though; language evolves. Anyone complaining about Americanisation of the English language (and I used to be one of them) should really take a look at what English started as, they'd have difficulty READING it, never mind translating it. Our current English is a mish-mash of Anglo-Saxon, French, Danish, German, Latin & Greek. Why not chuck a bit of American in there as well? My main bugbear with language is the constant truncation, but even that I'm mellowing out on.

One game with the flame throwers and warning to the crowd, then they seem to have gone missing. They will be needed in the depths of winter since the current UK government are determined to reduce the OAP population. Attending a game will be their only chance to get warm!!
