Never understood the allure 🤣 Ale was very popular in the 70,s before lager beer came on the scene...lager was classed as a women's drink for many years and real men always drank ale..bitter..mild..stout I think I got my taste for ale from pinching the odd bottle from my dad's stash at Xmas time when they used to be plenty hanging around

Tipple means alcohol drink. And we get to my deep dark secret. I don’t really drink. I know that probably makes me someone you can’t trust and all other kinds of things, but the honest answer is a bit boring- I have a bit of an allergy. Basically think of the worst hangover you’ve had, and I get that generally from one beer (or bourbon). I can sometimes get away with a glass of wine, but it limits my choices tremendously. So at home I have a massive collection of root beers ready to go, and of course being a CA native there are other ways to inebriate one’s self 😂

I used to be a heavy drinker in my young days but once I became a father I slowed right off to a standstill, and still remain a very light drinker, if at all. Can't beat a cup of tea but a nice root beer can be enjoyable. Rarely seen here in the UK, though I'm sure McDonald's used to serve it in the late 80's/early 90's?

Much preferred dandelion and burdock.

Which looked like a cryptic message with a random person stood near a pub!! The zero % alcohol drinks no good for you either? This could be a long 10day trip, if you need to check all aspects of any pictures you post.

Showing my age here, but I always think of the TV cowboy series Sugarfoot when anyone mentions sarsaparilla (with a dash of cherry )

Then we were playing pool with some lads who asked if we wanted to go out for a smoke, which was a really odd request to our ears (long before smoking was banned in pubs), until they explained what they meant. Weed was far more popular as recreation than their piss poor beer. Nowadays, I wouldn’t advise anybody to try drinking US craft beers to excess - the ABV is brutal (it’s nice enough, just a bit flat for me).

Reminds me of the time my dad went on exercise to Canada in the 80s Them n a load of Canadian squaddies went south to drink with some Yank squaddies, American guys bragging about how much they could drink until the Brits n Canadians brought out proper beer they’d brought with them Every single US squaddie was under the table 😂

A&W, Barq’s, Mug, but also funny enough quite a few “craft” root beers. Dr. Pepper, which I enjoy on occasion, has a unique undertone, once rumored to be a splash of prune juice (since debunked). Honestly one of my favorite drinks is a nice glass of ice water spiked with tropical punch flavored kool-aid concentrate, which I expect isn’t a thing over here

The days of being “a man” if you drink and drink lots, are long gone. Personally I have an allergy to a preservative/something in red wine, what it is, I’ve never bothered to find out. The red wine down here is absolutely fantastic but it doesn’t bother me because it saves me hangovers. These days I don’t drink at home and only drink a couple of beers on a night out. The only time I’m likely to get on it is when I’m out of town/country. I’m mostly a beer drinker because I hit my volumetric limit before I hit my pass out or throw up limit 😅 I love my Australian beers, but outside of Australia my favourite beers are Japanese beers. A nice cold Kirin or Suntory Premium Malt always hits the mark.

And then on came Ladapo and Ward. I thought all 4 forwards did well today. Both starters scored and had decent games, but probably should have been replaced about 10 minutes sooner as they'd run out of steam. Ward and Ladapo put the work in for the last 15/20 minutes and enabled us to play the game out.
