Quite a few of our players have received call-up for their national teams
Brodie Spencer - Northern Ireland
Radinio Balker - Suriname
Gio Bellagambi - Uganda
Shane Maroodza - Zimbabwe
Loick Ayina - Congo
Brahima Diarra - Mali U23's
Pat Jones - Wales U21's
Conor Falls - Northern Ireland U21's
Great experience for all of them

...and luckily only a couple actually play first team for Town so less likely to impact our injury list........!

And to think that at the time of writing we were a Championship club, Ayina had made his championship debut, Diarra was regularly in the squad, Jones was in the squad when fit and Conor Falls & Bellagambi were making the bench due to injuries. Balker (when fit) and Spencer were in the starting 11. Now we're in League 1 and 3 of those listed above are currently free agents without a club and 3 that can't get anywhere near our first team

His agent obviously thought he could sort a better deal than we offered but the free agent market is a huge now and he didn't exactly look fantastic in his brief efforts with us last season. Hope it all works out for him in the end or he could end up somewhere like Bradford.

What is the rule now for games being called off due to international call ups?
We were looking at going to Wycombe and making a weekend of it.

Isnt orient away an international weekend too. Yes, Orient in October, then Wycombe away (Nov) & home (March). They were some late postponements in League one last season due to call ups.......Maybe Town can give an early indication if they are to call a game off, think its 3 or more call ups before you can request it?

Three league one games for Saturday Sept 7th were postponed today due to 4 teams having international call ups, Burton (v Crawley), (Stockport v) Reading & Cambridge v Bolton (both had call ups, moved to 26th Nov)......Possibly more to follow & the same four sides likely to have games off in Oct, Nov & March too.

No guarantee those same 4 teams will have any other international weekend games called off later in the season. 3 of their players could be injured and therefore not called up for example.

True, but possible & in 2nd favourites Bolton Wanderers case it would mean Stevenage away & Rotherham away/home to rearrange for midweek dates, Cambridge away moved to late November now they could probably do without.......I bet Sky thought they were safe picking Burton v Crawley on Sept 7th?

All "picking" Burton v Crawley means is they get to lead on the channel!

Chance on the big stage scuppered one of only 3 league one games picked for SS main event channel........Can anyone name one of the Burton international players, let alone 3?

Tickets are on sale for the game with no mention it could be postponed so I'm guessing Town think the game will go ahead (unless Blackpool call it off), pretty sure no squads have been announced & the clubs who have requested postponements have done so in anticipation of call ups.......I asked 'HTFC Help' & got no response (again), also the Northampton game could be moved with Giants playing Friday night, hopefully fans won't be too much out of pocket if they alter fixtures at the last minute.

Sounds really daft but the club has to assume it will go ahead and has to act as such unless a minimum of three players are called up. Until international squads are announced, we won't know who we will and won't have available. I'd guess that Spencer and Marshall are givens; it's down to whether a third player gets a call-up. Koroma maybe, as Sierra Leone play two fixtures over the break. But until squads are announced (after this weekend, for the most part) the club doesn't get much leeway in what it can and can't do, which is very frustrating for all concerned.

Re people saying about Northampton moving cos of the Giants, plenty of times in the past there's been either rugby Friday then football Saturday, or football Saturday then rugby Sunday with no issue (I know Blackpool was moved a couple of seasons ago). Same with Wigan and Hull, regularly get Friday rugby and Saturday football

When we had Mooy called up I could appreciate the desire to postpone but surely we can manage without Spencer for 1 game. Who else is unavailable. League one is rubbish.. decent away day at Blackpool now will likely be a Tuesday. What are squads for?

Could even be that it's Blackpool who've called it off because they might have even more players called up.
