You'll be back, it hurts and we all feel shit tonight but football changes very quickly. Hell, it may even change next weekend! My Dad gave up his season ticket at the age of 93, he'd have missed the Schindler penalty in the play off final if he had given up at 77!!

No need to renew, best not to as a way of protesting against the crap management of the club from AB upwards. Just Pay As You Go for a handful of matches next season.

I know how you feel but I will be renewing with the often misplaced hope that next season will be better. Win or lose, I have had some magnificent times watching Town. Up the Town

Supported them attempting to survive in the Championship for plenty seasons. This season feels a lot different, I'm angry not because we're shit but because of the pathetic and idiotic decisions made by the chairman and his advisors. The fantastic job Warnock and Jepson did for us last season and the excitement and enthusiasm it created was all for nothing. Player recruitment pathetic, top level staff recruitment shite, managerial sacking and appointing, embarrassing. This season is different to other relegation seasons. I certainly won't be getting a season card, I'll pop to a few away games when it's stadiums I haven't been to before. I agree with the sentiment of the OP.

Whether we go to Division 1 or not, and I've been thinking it for weeks, I'll not be there much if at all either. I'll not say never, it is in the blood after all, but I didn't go today, and I'm not going next week. I can't justify the cost, for what I'm getting. Either train fares and ticket and booze, and that's the cheap option. Otherwise it's, petrol, ticket, booze and an inflated hotel price on match days. I enjoy the four pints before the game more than anything that happens in the ground, just about every time. I'll be 72 in Sept, been going since 1965, on and off, at one point was in Essex with young family and a mortgage I couldn't afford, so not all the time. I watched my grandad do the same, with Barnsley in his case, just lost interest, and gave up, and that was the 60s when he decided it wasn't football anymore. You younger guys will probably be back, but times change, and it's not my game anymore, whatever it is, it's not football. And yes I played myself, at a lower level of course, but watching the antics and time wasting these days just disgusts me. The Officials are nothing short of corrupt, same with many of the players, stealing a wage and don't care at all, and as for the Management, well it may not be corrupt, but it's beyond inept. To be truthful, that last point has always been the case, they wouldn't give Shankly peanuts to buy players, same with Ian Greaves, and it's gone on ever since I've known them. Probably from when Chapman went to Arsenal for double the money. Sure it's London, but Huddersfield once had more Rolls Royce owners than anywhere in the country, but the chairmen always had very deep pockets, and very short arms.

I let my season ticket go a couple of years ago and attend a few games or stream but just to let you know Towner that not renewing doesn't exempt you from the pain and suffering....unfortunately Huddersfield Town is in your blood like a fucking disease. I've been to 70 or 80 different grounds from Old Trafford to Torquay over the years and some of my best memories were in 70s following us all over 4th Division pre Buxton with 200 or so others when we were unbelievably worse than these tossers now but it felt like your club then and your team but not now. I wish I could have supported a proper team instead of this fucking shambles

In all my years here on DATM I’ve always found Towner47 a fair and reasonable poster and I’m certainly not going to criticise him for saying he’s “done” with Town.
I don’t know Towner47 personally and don’t know where he lives but I wish him all the best and I respect his feelings at the moment. I doubt he’ll have taken his decision lightly.
The hierarchy at Town ought to be very concerned that long term supporters like Towner47 and Bassingham (who I do know personally and sit with at games) feel the way they do, but I fear this is not just a Huddersfield Town thing but a feeling about how football in general is nowadays and how different it is to the game we used to know and love.

It's a much easier decision to make when one lives nearly two hours away. 👍 It is indeed, that certainly plays a big factor in my own decision. Sure if I could get on a bus with my bus pass, have four pints before the game with mates, maybe a couple after, then return home the same way, get a takeaway etc etc, it would be a different matter....maybe. By the time I get back, I'm absolutely knackered at my age, don't feel like eating, even a few glasses are a struggle, then it's a bad nights sleep, and aches and pains the next day. Just why? Yet not long ago, I was happy to walk 23.6 miles for Frankie, and got great support on here. Age and limitations can come really quickly and bloody sneak up on one.

You're dead right, Chris. It's not just HTAFC; you only need to look at the week's news in re: the FAC. Football's well and truly fkd.

Absolutely, and i've just posted something to that effect myself. It's not football anymore..... It will be to younger members, because it's what they know, but disenchantment for some of us has arrived.

Some great posts on here citing the state of modern football.
Over hyped and over priced is what it is…
Bravo to those that have spent £k’s over the years on long distance travel just to see home games.
I hope football rights itself and we have a new generation of some of the posters on here.
👏👏👏

“Me done” pathetic attention seeking thread. We’re all upset and pissed off but come on. I don't think any of us posting those things have been pathetic or attention seeking. You clearly haven't read them. They're not being written by 20 something kids with that in mind, but by older long term supporters, who to be honest, have had enough of being put through the ringer, by a bunch of people, who whatever they say, don't actually give a toss about us.

“Me done” pathetic attention seeking thread. We’re all upset and pissed off but come on. "Come on" what? I will not be renewing. I've had enough of driving up and down for two hours at a time when the players don't put in the effort that I do to get there. I've been doing it now for 45 years - how long have you been doing exactly the same? I'm not attention seeking; I'm simply agreeing with a like-minded fan who has decided that enough is enough. I'll follow Town's results from afar from next season, perhaps popping up for the odd game to meet up with friends that I have made through football. Is that ok?
