Bit harsh that Pete. Perhaps you should wind your neck in today and accept you was overly emotional last night? I’m the over emotional one? It’s not me that’s coming on here feeling the need to tell everyone “they’re done” and “not driving 2 hours anymore” cos we’re going down. Also are you gonna tell the bloke who called me a “disgusting human” to wind his neck in? As you seem to think you’re running the show! Is that really called for? I simply pointed out , if you don’t wanna come to games anymore then don’t, why do we all need to know! You're still a bit hyper Pete. Just chill out. Disgusting human was over the top too I agree. But then again you didn't just simply point anything out...you were offensive...but that's your own prerogative. Crack on.

It's all in the warp and the weft of following a team. Why else would you follow a poor (both financially and in ability) side?
Without the heart breaking times, how would you ever feel the orgasmic elation of, say, winning at Wembley?
I left after 3 goals yesterday, I won't be attending the wake next week, but as long as the prices stay reasonable, I'll be sat in the same old seat, listening to (some of?) the same moaning old gits next season.

UTT Compare this with watching a team in the PL who are highly unlikely to suffer a relegation in the next 30 years. They’ll moan because they’ve not won silverware in a couple of seasons. Some folk will think my post is just envy, but it’s not, far better to follow a club that stirs your emotions in a thousand different ways, as opposed to a ‘shit, we missed out on Europe’ club… Soulless clubs, homogenised for TV and the media. UTT!!!

I’ll be honest, I’m in awe of these fans who travel in from afar. I struggle to motivate myself from Brighouse, yet these lads do it week in, week out. Total respect. Cheers mate, me and my son are two of those who do a 3 hour round trip for each home game. Not as far as some people but you don't half get fed up of the M1! Like others, I still have (aging) family in the Huddersfield area so we always go up there for lunch and tea, and usually to do some jobs that they've saved for us to do! They're on holiday at the moment so we sat and ate our sandwiches in the car on Red Doles Road. I did say to my son that this is what it will be when your grandparents are no longer here

I came over from Fermanagh for the Coventry game. Takes 7 hours and a 3am start.
Didn’t bother yesterday and won’t next week given the players can’t be arsed turning up either.

Jesus. I though the older generation were made of sterner stuff? Put your toys back in the pram have a beer and cheer up, it’s just football. What a pathetic reply. He has been there through thick and thin .Good and bad.To tell him to put his toys back in the pram and have a beer is totally out of order. You could offer an apology but likely you won't .

As I’m not even 45 years old obviously not as long as you, but when I’m your age, probably longer. Don’t moan about driving long distances, nobody asked you to commute from wherever you come from so don’t play the martyr. Enjoy watching from a far you won’t be missed. It’s shit , it’s disappointing but we’ll carry on. Really? You don't think, and I quote above, that this is downright over the top? Martyr, bloody hell what planet are you on? You were and are offensive, and 90% of the population would agree. Wait until you get another 25 years under your belt, but judging by you trying to justify being a prat, I doubt you'll have changed. Why does people moaning about travelling bother you? It's a bloody long way, and only gets harder the older you get.

One our most enjoyable seasons was when we won the fourth division at a canter. I'm looking forward to the 27/28 season.

Angry, gutted, pissed off, upset, annoyed, we're all feeling one or all of thsoe emotions, but what i find a bit odd is suppoorters who have seen town plummet to the depths saying they're done cos we're probably going to League 1. I might stop going one day, but it will be because i've lost interest and fallen out with football in general rather than fallen out with Town.

I’ll be supporting ty Town whatever league we are in. Just watching the EFL show in telly now. Some shit grounds to look forward to……! What difference does it make what divisions you are in? You either support the club or you dont. We go up sometimes, and we go down sometimes. It's part of supporting a club like ours. The club is in nothing like the shit state a lot of these older fans have seen many many times,,, nowhere near ,,,so its odd to me why this is the time they claim theyre stopping supporting the club. each to their own though. It's not compulsory. People will do what they want to do and so they should. My mates a Bradford park Avenue fan. They've just been relegated for the second season running down to the 8th tier. Hes gutted but he'll be there watching them next season because theyre his club. End of story. To me your club is like an extra child. If they disappoint and end up working stacking shelves at Aldi instead of that accountants job you hoped they'd get then do you disown them? No, you carry on loving and supporting them as best you can. Because theyre your kid and always will be. But like I say, each to their own.

Can’t argue - maybe it’s just ground down the older fanbase who have been here too many times….!! When we were on the bottom division (early 00s?……) I honestly though I would never - ever - see Town in the Premier League…….yet we made it!!! We will again. It’s a horrible ride sometimes being a Terrier, but you’re on the rollercoaster and may as well try and enjoy the ride……

People get older, priorities change but I wouldn't blame anyone for giving up on Town now - not that anyone is giving up on Town, they will always have the club in their heart but they may well choose not to actively spend their hard earned money & time on travelling to watch them.
As for why some people have now had enough, one reason is that football on TV is now much more available, not just football in general but anyone could have watched every single Town game this season with a firestick. As you get older, the fight can go out of you, but they will never get Town out of their system, true fans, no longer how long they have supported us, will always care, they might just choose not to attend.

It's impossible to give up on this club Once the club is in your veins then that's it..a life sentence!..literally Yes you might stop attending games,,but on a Saturday morning you will still have that little bit of anxiety and wondering if you are going to be happy come 5pm....and at 3pm when your in the shopping center with the missus you will have an unstoppable urge to keep looking at your phone to see the latest scores It's literally like having a curse put on you!! The only way you escape Huddersfield Town is death!! The best thing to come out of this thread is this notion that Saturday afternoons still mean men at the football and women at the shopping centre. Priceless

The way this season as gone it reminds me of decline in mid 70s going all the way down to old 4th division and nearly I out of the league appethetic players rubbish football crowds hitting a all time low of just over a thousand. Luckily the great Mick Buxton came along to give us back our pride and entertaining winning football. Where is our Mick Buxton coming from this time. Fear it's going to get worse before it gets better. But a lot of us have been there before. One day they will be better days ahead.

First game at Leeds Road a couple of weeks before England won world cup. Season ticket holder on and off for more years than I care to remember. Children had season tickets when younger. After the debacle that was the playoff final I said, if this is football I'm done. Not been to a live game since. It is in the blood, watched on ifollow and red button a few times, even yesterday. Maybe just an age thing but I've not missed it.
