Whichever league we are in, we need a CM who can pass a ball and dictate play.
Never replaced Mooy. Had we done, the defence would be better protected, the strikers would get more service and we might be able to retain the ball for 5-6 passes unlike now.
Lewis had an incredible engine, he masked this deficiency for a while.
I don’t actually think the individual players are as bad as our league position suggests but the lack of any class in CM makes us a bottom 3 squad.

The fat lady is warmed up. My head say we are. My heart is saying in typical town fashion we go and win the next 2 from out of nowhere. I am only pinning my hopes due to never thinking we could draw at Chelsea and City and we did. Different times I know, but surely we are the next team to pull off a freak result at Ipswich. Similar to QPR and Plymouth V Leicester. Brum V Coventry. Blackburn V Leeds

Would be just like Town to capitulate v Brum then go and produce our freak result with our best performance of the season at Portman Road once already relegated and thus send Leeds up.

Almost certainly, if Wednesday win later on even more likely. I can't see a scenario where Ipswich won't need something on the last day and they're a proper team that won't bottle it when it counts. If Wednesday lose later, we beat Brum and Brum lose on the last day I think we stay up. Highly unlikely based on what we saw yesterday. Wednesdays goal difference also getting closer to ours now. Only 4 goals in it and if Ipswich were to score a few they could go above us on gd alone. Having said all that I'm now thinking we still have a good chance!! It's the hope that kills ya!

Completely agree with this, been like this since last season. They spend £4m in January and don't address it, bringing in another DM on loan. Appalling decision making from the DoF, last in a long line. Like you say, everything looks better with some creativity in midfield.

Take whatever we can get for sorba, never known a winger be so ineffective at scoring goals.
Sadly would probably move hoggy on too, been a tremendous servant but if/when we go down it’s time for a fresh start.

I know what people are saying when they say we haven't replaced Mooy but he was the best Town player in the last 40 odd years, it is incredibly hard to get anyone remotely close to Mooy's quality. Though, that being said, we ought to be able to get someone who can pass the ball more than 10 yards consistently well.

Take whatever we can get for sorba, never known a winger be so ineffective at scoring goals. Eh? The job of wingers isn't to score goals. If they can, good, but he doesn't have many shots as he's mainly down the wing trying to create chances for others (which is his main job).

I’d cash in on Nichols if we go down.
He hasn’t been the same since Clements left. Which was a shambolic decision to let NW bring in Bennett when only planned to be here until end of the season.
Maxwell has shown on his couple of appearances, he is capable of being a number 1. Then bring in an experienced back up with Chapman out on load with a re call clause in case of injury.

Similar to QPR and Plymouth V Leicester. Brum V Coventry. Blackburn V Leeds I think the Ipswich game will be a dead rubber for us. I’ll be absolutely amazed if we aren’t down by 5pm next Saturday. The players are cooked, yesterday was a must win and we totally bottled it. Didn’t lay a glove on Swansea and let them knock the ball about like a pre season friendly, and in true Town fashion capitulated to another 4-0 drubbing. If there was any fight in these players we would have seen it by now, but there isn’t. We’ll need powers of recovery similar to Tyson Fury rising from the canvas in the final round to beat Deontay Wilder to survive now. The difference is we’ve been pummelled for all 11 and a half rounds and are desperate for the corner to chuck the towel in.

On the flip side I've never known a winger be so creative for us, is it his fault the only goalscorer we have plays centre back? Take what ever we can get for him? He's one of about 3 players that actually play like they give a shit and IF by some miracle he did play with us in League 1 next season I'd be far more confident of us doing well. I'd still only accept a pretty big offer for him, as far as I know his contract is until 2026 so no need to push him out of the door.

Creates from set pieces yes, he’s incredibly limited as a footballer a side from that. Plays on the left cuts inside whips a ball in (regardless of whether there’s somebody in the box or not). He wouldn’t be the best winger in league one, both Peterborough wingers are better for a starter.

Foden, Diaz, Palmer etc don't spend their entire time down the wing. Sorba does. Want him in the middle? Fine, but who's going to provide some creativity to give him or anyone else a chance to score? You're also comparing top PL players with Championship players. Most players who spend the entire time on the wing don't score say 10+ goals a season.

You're living in cloud cuckoo land comparing a bottom of the Championship winger to some of the best players in the country. Also for context, Thomas has more goal contributions (classed as a goal or assist) this season than 3 of those you've mentioned, the other 4 are in the top 10 scorers in the Premier League ffs.

Wingers are expected to contribute goals and assists. Thomas does the latter. He'd have far more than 9 if we had competent forwards. Take yesterday for example: put one on a plate which Koroma blazed over when it was easier to score. He's the most creative player, in terms of chances created, in the division. Part of it is set-pieces, but he creates chance after chance for those in front of him. We've missed a consistent creative force for years, and now we have one he's dismissed as a set-piece merchant (which he is, but offers so much more besides) because we don't have forwards who put the chances he creates away. No, we'll miss Thomas when he's gone. The hope has to be for a big fee to allow us to effectively replace him.

Who is creating these chances for Thomas? After him the next most assists is 2! He average 3.1 key passes a game, the next is on 1.0! He's got more than his expected goals this season. Crosses average 3.6 a game, out of players that have played more than 10 games the next best average is Koroma with 0.4! (Ruffles and Edwards have 0.8 but from not many games). I know stats can be turned but he's leading on pretty much everything and they pretty clearly show he creates everything and if nobody else is creating anything how is he expected to score more goals? Unfortunately for him he doesn't have Odegaard, Martinelli, DeBruyne, Silva creating chance after chance for him. Or would you like him to be setting himself up as well?
