I’d like us to sign the best young up and coming players from league one like we did with Roberts, Pilks, Rhodes etc. players that have a drive to play at a higher level and ability that will take them (and us) there. Why would they come to us at the moment? They probably would be better staying where they are, rather than coming to us! We would have to make a statement signing to make us look like we were aiming to get promotion to make us appear that we were a club worth joining. All about how ambitious we show we are and selling the vision to players.

Players with more bottle than those we have.
Not a high bar admittedly, but a MUST!

I think this thread is a bit misleading! it reads league 1 signings, but is this thread about league 1 players that we should sign or is it a thread to basically say that's the league we are going to be in thread and to name players of any kind to come to town ? I'm baffled lol

A Swansea supporting mate of mine has said Jerry Yates is unsettled and want to return up north. Did well with Blackpool.

Two playere in any postion. One to be a strong captain. The second to be a strong substitute captain in the event of injury. One of these a Hogg replacement?

Possibly Ali Al Hamadi from Ipswich on loan? Wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up at a lower championship team

Langstaff and Keillor-Dunn. I'd push the boat out for Langstaff. I'd have done that irrespective of League One or Championship. Additionally: I'd be wanting players who have pace, athletic, have a bit of bite about them, good honest work ethic, technically sound and ultimately can pass a ball and have end product.

Cameron Brannagan and Ethan Erhahon and that would be midfield sorted. Brannagan is definitely ready for a Champ move though and could get it with Oxford. Sure we were linked with Erhahon in January

I'm assuming those saying Jodi Jones haven't actually watched him play? He's extremely one dimensional and we've got serious problems if that's the level of player we sign I suspect that for most players, people are basing it on what they've heard from sources they trust, a few stats and/or a YouTube video or two. I'll be honest, he wasn't on my radar at all. Never heard of him before his name was posted on here. I watched a YouTube video of him and he looks decent enough (wouldn't even say one dimensional), but I have little else to go on.

Sure we were linked with Erhahon in January Brannagan is on £10K a week at Oxford. They pushed the boat out for him in terms of contract; he loves the place. Can't see him leaving before 2025, when his contract runs out. If he does leave before then it will be for a Championship team.

Possibly Ali Al Hamadi from Ipswich on loan? Wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up at a lower championship team I was thinking of this the other day. He could benefit from regular football in League 1 and he certainly won't be around the Ipswich squad if they go up. Though, like you say, a Championship team will probably be interested in a deal. Tbh, I was disappointed we didn't sign him in the January transfer window.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner is out of contract at QPR. Capable and versatile midfielder with a great attitude. At that stage of his career where he needs a regular starting place.

I can't say I know anything about this guy but looking him up, I expect this is is exactly the type of player that we, realistically, should be looking at - young players not quite making the first team at Championship clubs but getting time from the bench frequently. We should also be looking at some of the better Div 3 players at clubs who are unlikely to be challenging for promotion, as per Rudoni when we bought him.

Cameron Brannagan and Ethan Erhahon and that would be midfield sorted. Brannagan is definitely ready for a Champ move though and could get it with Oxford. Sure we were linked with Erhahon in January Two very good shouts. Brannagan would be a case of matching wages. In some regards, Oxford might be grateful for an offer - it frees up wages for them elsewhere. He was going to Blackpool 2 years ago until Oxford put a mega deal in place for him. A sensible offer to both parties would be considered, I'm sure. Erhahon is Lincoln's player of the year. Young, athletic, what we could do with. Very much a junior Hogg with a bit more to his game. Looking at out of contract players in League One (Championship to follow), this is a list of players who realistically we should be speaking to (in hope if not expectation): Sonny Bradley (Blackpool, 23) - central midfield Josh Murphy (Oxford, 29) - winger Herbie Kane (Barnsley, 25) - central midfield Josh Knight (Peterborough, 26) - central defence Thierry Small (Charlton, 19) - left-back That might not reflect options teams have on those contracts, but I've tried to look at age, experience, potential, and quality. A couple would command a tribunal fee, but given periods of time those players have been at those clubs (and the new regime for tribunals) you'd be looking at small six-figure sums at most. In the Championship, these are not unrealistic targets on the same basis: Will Vaulks (Sheffield Wednesday, 30) - central midfield Elijah Dixon-Bonner (QPR, 23) - central midfield Martin Kelly (West Brom, 34) - right-back (yes, that one) Liam Kelly (Coventry, 34) - central midfield There are plenty out there who we don't need to spend big money on, who are good ages, or who would bring something to the side. We'll be a more attractive proposition than many.

A good mix of young players coming down from the PL/Championship to play regularly and gain experience; also players who are perhaps a little more experienced from League 2 who have the potential to progress and move up the ladder. Dixon-Bonner is well regarded by the QPR fans but has mainly been on the bench for the last 1/3 of the season. I'd be surprised if they didn't offer him a new contract but he may be open to offers elsewhere in order to gain a better chance of a regular starting place.

Sean raggett has been released by Portsmouth, good cb , wouldn’t mind him They've not taken the option on Joe Morrell. He's been out since January after undergoing knee surgery so probably not something we want to be pursuing given our luck but he's always impressed me when I've seen him play

Demanding doesn't cover it. Took Town to the play-offs, sacked me 5 games in to the next season after picking up 'just' 7 points. After a double Grimsby promotion, subsequently leading Bristol Rovers up, then Aston Villa. Spot the one team I didn't get into the next division up...
