Did I read somewhere that AB had been in discussion with Kachunga at some point? I wonder if AB stays on, whether Kachunga will return to Town. I believe he's currently out of contract, and we all know how we feel about signing ex players.

I’d look to get Massimo Luongo in on loan from Ipswich. I don’t envisage they’d use him in the Premier League, his level is Championship or top end League 1. Perfect to get us at the top end of league 1.

He was captain at QPR for a bit, the type of player we should be after.

Sam Morsy, not really a stand out at Wigan or Boro. Chaplin, just an average striker at Barnsley.

Perfect to get us at the top end of league 1. There's no way Ipswich would loan him to a league one team after this season. IF he's not part of their plans, they'll either sell him, or loan him to a Championship side, not a League One team

Cameron Brannagan and Ethan Erhahon and that would be midfield sorted. Brannagan is definitely ready for a Champ move though and could get it with Oxford. Sure we were linked with Erhahon in January Two very good shouts. Brannagan would be a case of matching wages. In some regards, Oxford might be grateful for an offer - it frees up wages for them elsewhere. He was going to Blackpool 2 years ago until Oxford put a mega deal in place for him. A sensible offer to both parties would be considered, I'm sure. Erhahon is Lincoln's player of the year. Young, athletic, what we could do with. Very much a junior Hogg with a bit more to his game. Looking at out of contract players in League One (Championship to follow), this is a list of players who realistically we should be speaking to (in hope if not expectation): Sonny Bradley (Blackpool, 23) - central midfield Josh Murphy (Oxford, 29) - winger Herbie Kane (Barnsley, 25) - central midfield Josh Knight (Peterborough, 26) - central defence Thierry Small (Charlton, 19) - left-back That might not reflect options teams have on those contracts, but I've tried to look at age, experience, potential, and quality. A couple would command a tribunal fee, but given periods of time those players have been at those clubs (and the new regime for tribunals) you'd be looking at small six-figure sums at most. In the Championship, these are not unrealistic targets on the same basis: Will Vaulks (Sheffield Wednesday, 30) - central midfield Elijah Dixon-Bonner (QPR, 23) - central midfield Martin Kelly (West Brom, 34) - right-back (yes, that one) Liam Kelly (Coventry, 34) - central midfield There are plenty out there who we don't need to spend big money on, who are good ages, or who would bring something to the side. We'll be a more attractive proposition than many. I've just skimmed back through this thread to see if he was mentioned. Could he be a long term replacement for Hogg?

I’ve got a mate who supports Wednesday and loves Byers. Would be useful in L1 I reckon.

Certainly the sort of player we should be looking at. Established in League One, immense potential, only 22. More athletic and physical than our existing midfielders. Also more comfortable on the ball. Played almost 200 career games already in the SPL and League One. Reminds me of Lee Peltier when we signed him, in terms of his profile and type of player, not necessarily position.

You wouldn’t go far wrong ignoring the relegated and promoted teams then just taking the best player off every league one team.

Ryan Woods from Hull? Apparently Hull are looking to offload, got one year of his contract left. Exeter would like him to return after a successful loan.

I know we have strikers but this lad would probably score more than Ward & Gassan is only 23.

Swap them & give Cambridge some brass & pay Wards contract off. If you can do stuff like that, not sure 😂

Josh Onomah & Ovie Ejaria both still without clubs.
Would have thought both would have a few suitors TBH. Worth a look at both IMO.

Onomah has been available since last summer and hasn't played a competitive game in over 12 months. Their must be a reason why he hasn't found a club in that time? Another dick of a player? I have no idea, but it's a red flag to me.

I have no idea, but it's a red flag to me. Yeah, that crossed my mind. And given the biggest problem with us is the culture at the club that might not be the best idea. Ejaria has been a free agent for half a season now after leaving Reading. Both are players who I rate highly even at Championship level (let alone Lg1!) so it does seem strange that neither has a club. When we were looking to bolster the midfield in January they would both have seemed on the face of it to be very good options. There must have been a reason why we looked elsewhere (assuming we did - maybe they weren't interested). On balance I think you're probably right. Damn shame because those two fit, firing and motivated would tear Lg1 a new one.

With clubs releasing their retained lists, Has anyone come across any names from those that would be a good fit? I'd be surprised if we didn't pick up a couple of freebies

I'd be surprised if we didn't pick up a couple of freebies We should absolutely be doing this.Should be looking at all of the championship clubs(including stoke) as there will be players there that for the right money will drop down a level to play regular football, especially if they think the club will be having a go.
