I think Josh Windass is out of contract this summer, he'd be a great signing in league one

Idris El-Mizuni. Creative midfielder from Ipswich. Been on loan at Leyton Orient the last 2 years. Looks very decent.
Mentioned elsewhere but Chris Conn-Clarke at Altrincham looks good.

We are going to need to be extremely savvy in the summer. The out of contract players from the Championship who'd improve us and be willing to drop down a division will be few and far between. League 1 rivals won't want to sell to us, and the likes of Cameron Brannigan would only be let go for (comparatively) massive fees. I think we're probably going to be looking at the best of League 2, the foreign market and probably a few very under the radar (i.e. youngsters the Championship clubs don't want) Prem loan signings.

I've just had a very quick look at the top players in League 1 this season:
Top Defender appears to be a 32 year old Stevenage CB, Carl Piergianni, who has not exactly had a sterling career
Top midfielder 28 year old (in a few days) Oxford, ex-Liverpool junior who has double digit assists & goals (though 9 of them are pens!!)
Top striker 30 year old Charlton player with 23 goals (to be fair he has scored 20+ goals in the last 3 seasons)
It's hardly much to be afraid of, especially when you consider Jordan Rhodes scored 15 goals in a goal every 2 games for Blackpool.
Without being too cocky, we have to be looking at coming straight back up, we're not playing Leicester, Ipswich, Leeds, or indeed Cardiff next time out.

Not that I want him back, I've just seen Ryan Schofield has been released by Pompey without making any appearances. Feel sorry for him but his confidence took a battering in that ropey spell Carlos kept playing him in. Never seemed to recover from it.

McNair has been released by Middlesbrough. Would be a good signing at the back with Lees injured and Helik likely to leave.
Campbell released by Stoke. Has always looked a real handful against us but not sure if he has a bad injury record.
Will be interesting to see who else is released from the championship. We need a mix of exciting young players and some experienced senior pros who are technically a step above league 1.

Would imagine they’ll both be picked up by championship clubs at far higher wages than we should be paying in league 1.

One thing we can't be doing this season is signing someone with a poor injury record thinking it won't be the same when they're with us. Any player can get injured but don't go signing players with history of hamstring or knee injuries for example as there is a very good chance they continue to happen

The season we got promoted under Wagner we had a large base of leaders. Cranie, Whitehead, Hudson, Hogg, Smith, Schindler, Löwe and Hefele. Loaning talented young players to blend with the experienced pros aswell. We also got our business done early to allow the team a full pre-season to bond and prepare. Island survival, Austria, etc, playing competitive games in pre-season. Regular interviews with the players to connect with the fans.
It was the perfect preparation for the season and it's the blueprint we should follow next season, albeit at a lower level.
Big lessons needs to be learnt from our piss poor pre-season schedules over the last two seasons and disastrous summer windows.

It may not be that easy but it would be good if we could.

We need to be able to compete with rival league 1 clubs in terms of wages, something we weren't willing to do in the championship, which is why we are where we are. If we can compete then we'll be an attractive proposition for any potential incoming players.
Due diligence in terms of character reference, work ethos, etc. Something we've struggled at in the last few years, hence why we have loads of knobheads disgracing the badge and not fighting for the team.
We should be able to compete for top end league one players instead of scraping the barrel in the championship, but that depends on how badly Kev wants to get us back up.

I imagine Tyrese Campbell will be staying in the Championship. Injury prone but a decent player can imagine he'll end up at someone like Bristol City.
Joe Gelhardt would be an unreal signing for League One on loan. So would Charlie Cresswell but couldn't see him dropping down a league.

We need the right players that potentially can do decent in the championship and not players that have been stuck in L1

If sunderland don't take up their option on Callum styles, i would hope town at least enquire. He is the all action box to box mid we could defo do with.

He defo would add serious quaility to our midfield area as is.

long time viewer but first time poster. As the username gives away i'm a fan of another team in blue and white stripes!!
There are potentially a couple of our players who will be available and who are both too good for league 1 but have never quite done it at championship level
George Byers - box to box midfielder who scores his fair share of goals. Been on loan at Blackpool since January. Was instrumental in our promotion. Unsung hero next to Bannan in midfield Reece James - left back / left centre half. runs all day and provides more than his fair share of assists. For a team who will be on the front foot in the majority of games he is an ideal attacking full back
Best of luck next season

Also, congratulations on staying up. Thought you lot were nailed on for the drop. One hell of an achievement at your spot.
