For almost two decades, Georgios Donis was the yardstick by which I compared all the shit transfers. The epitome of absolute fucking bobbins recruitment, or so I thought. Then we got to the Premier League and made not one, but three signings that were all worse than him in a single window, to compliment the signing of that fucking gnome (who to be fair had looked ok in that first half season). In addition to the other bloody dross we signed. I wouldn't put Wiles even in Donis's category. And I say this as someone who would prefer to see Scott High or Josh Austerfield in the side than Wiles. It’s an incredibly low bar but George Donis could run a bit. That’s more than can be said for Wiles sadly. But who knows maybe like a lot people seem to think - he’ll suddenly become good next season after a full pre season… The three players I referred to re: the summer of 2018 could run as well...

Looking at the squad listed is probably why there will be dramatic drop in season ticket prices, fans are sick to the high teeth of these players they seem to have been around for ever and will they be better a league lower?, probably not!!. The sooner their contracts are up the better, we in the same boat as the prem relegation, stuck with players who have that losing mentality.

Theres a distinct need now to move on and away. By that lets stop putting old favourites in as stop gap measures - we need to embrace a new way of doing things/a new broom thru the club. The make do attitude has caught up with us........again! Time to embrace change-if KN backs AB then crack on. If not it will be somebody else - but if we continue making stop gap appts we will plunge further not return to the championship.

For me, although it may never be broadcast to fans, I’d expect we start off with agreeing some principles of what Town stand for and how we operate. That will then guide all other decisions within the club.
Right now I have no idea as nothing seems joined up. Especially recruitment.
There are Spanish clubs that have distinct styles of play or rules about how they operate (for example Basque clubs that will only play Basque players).
I don’t care if we want to play like Swansea or vintage Wimbledon but I’d expect the club to embrace a ‘philosophy.’
It isn’t all about style but decide we will recruit in a certain way. Posh seem to do well with picking up players on the cheap and reselling for profit. Or we could look to go abroad regularly for a certain type of player.
At present nothing seems consistent or appears to make sense. For example, Bojan looks to be a player you’d play central in a front 3 to link play, drop deep at times and let two inverted wingers run wild. If this is the plan then why sign Healey in the same window and vice versa. Bizarre

Buy in / bring in young talent and develop it/sell it on as hopefully we move upwards simultaneously ...........pilks, rhodes, norwood, hunt, billing, grant etc. It doesnt always work but if players know when they "outgrow" a club they will get a bigger move for the right fee surely thats an attractive sell and for a time we did it quite well. Sadly since our prem stint we've had a make do / patch it up approach and this year its bitten us in our arse because those in charge of recruitment have failed miserably for several yrs now. Reset needed and rebuild - its hugely disappointing to have completely ruined the prem legacy but we arent alone in that. Time to embrace something new and move on as soon as possible........a good start next yr to blow the cobwebs off much needed.

Was thinking about this yesterday, I think part of our problem is the “stepping stone” carrot we dangle to prospective new players. As alluded to above it’s definitely worked in the past, but it also devalues our club and perpetuates the small club mentality. We need players who want to play for us becaue we’re Huddersfield Town and we’re ambitious, we coach and develop players well and constantly want to do better. I was listening to Conor Coady on a podcast recently and he said he loved his time at the club but was surprised we stuck to the “ the club won’t stand in your way philosophy” and were happy to let him go as soon as another club came in for him I think a fair few of the current crop, believe we are a stopgap in their careers because that’s what they were sold. Hopefully going forward we’ll be selling the club based on our ambitions rather than a chance for a player to get a better club in a year or two.

We have had a different philosophy in recent years :- Sell anyone we can get some money for and buy a cheap as possible.

Scott High would struggle to get in my Subbuteo line up!! Now Pritchard would get in my subbuteo team, he would be the perfect height and his cyst would be microscopic.

On your head be it pal, but you better believe that figurine is finding his little legs way outta the subbuteo box and onto the carpet. You know you are treading on that Mo’ fo barefoot, at 2am as you’re going for the a glass of water trying to not wake the missus. Straight through the heal skin. Agony. Final insult from Pritch.
