There's an old adage "you never get another chance to make a 1st impression". Michael came across very well, realistic, focused and genuinely enthused. If he can deliver, and is supported to deliver, there is a chance we can start looking up again.
You can certainly tell that Dyche is his mentor, and that isn't a bad thing.
A good first start, but obviously lots to do.
Also I would note, and to be entirely fair, that is the best I have heard from Cartwright. Reality seems to have hit home and it suggests Mr Nagle has made it clear that folk need to step up.
Lots to do and words need backing up but I feel more hopeful of something better having listened to the presser.

contrary to much opinion on here i’m in favour of our new manager making his own mind up on the attitudes and behaviour of the players AB called out i’m looking forward to seeing who leaves us and where they go and who Michael Duff decides to keep once the business is done we shall all be the wiser

It always stuck out to me how Wagner spoke about Burnley after we played them in 2016.
“We played against a very strong side who are very focused, very concentrated and very aggressive in their game plan, and high potential individuals.
“In my opinion, Burnley is the best team in the league.“
I think Duff is very much school of Dyche. Hopefully we see this said about us also.

He's already learned how to speak a lot, yet say nothing. Irony at its best from someone whose favourite post is “let’s wait and see”. Other than to say he’s here, no purpose was served. I’m happy to wait and see what happens with him, the team, and the club. There was no way that he would have said anything of importance. If there, my question would have been How important is this Press Conference? He should then say none, and depart. All questions will be answered in the fullness of time.

I think we are the right kind of club for him and starting in League 1 will allow him to use his experience from Cheltenham and Barnsley. It would be great to see him grow with us and us with him.

A humble manager is always a good one. Duff spoke really well. I know pressers aren’t much to go by these days but he damn sure got me excited! Strangely looking forward to the next couple months. The best months as a town fan do tend to be in the summer months…

Finally someone to get behind.
Came across well, Focused, disciplined and ready to go.
Wasn't sure about him, based on a strange interview I saw at Swansea, but breath of fresh air from Fozza, Moore and Andre.....
Good luck the Duffmiester.

I liked that press conference. Fotheringham and Moore's were shockers and that wasn't my view with hindsight.

“If there’s cliques around, you see them at 3 o’clock on Saturday.”
We can say that from first hand after the last few months.

Seems a comfortable speaker, doesn't speak in riddles or spout jargon. Seems straight down the line and doesn't say loads without saying nothing unlike one of his predecessors.
Looks okay so far, now needs to be left to get on with it, let his bring some players in and if we have an indifferent start, don't start demanding his sacking after six games.

He had a calm, low key intensity about the way he communicated. Seems to know his own mind well, is professionally curious about sporting performance and winning mentality, and bigged up the potential of the club a number of times. Seems very keen to get going.
Feels like a good fit for what we need right now.

So given our club is fucking shite now at putting out anything other than videos or YouTube links when it comes to wanting to hear what anyone has to say, rather than writing an article, can anyone go over the gist of what was said for those of us who couldn't watch/listen live?

No. Watch/listen to it in your own time. We work hard now at Huddersfield Town. No lazy options relying on others.

Clearly there's some right arseholes about this evening. Simple question, not exactly unreasonable, and then a couple of arsey responses. Sounds about right for this place in recent times

That was one of the best first press conferences I've seen in time.
He came across very confident at communicating his ideas. Seemed confident and ambitious regarding this season but also spoke about HOW we are going to get there. Knows the league inside and out, can't wait to see what he does and I wish him the best of success.

So given our club is fucking shite now at putting out anything other than videos or YouTube links when it comes to wanting to hear what anyone has to say, rather than writing an article, can anyone go over the gist of what was said for those of us who couldn't watch/listen live? Luckily I’m on a long train journey so have been able to listen. - the club thinks this is an opportunity to have a re-set - Duff is very Dyche-like in his approach and hard work is the minimum expectation. - promotion is the aim and it is talked about a lot but Duff is very clear that you can’t expect to win the league just because we are a bigger club than most. - Cartwright thinks that behind the scenes we are in a better position than we were 12 months ago. - last summers transfer window was shit. In January the fact we had to bring in 4 players and bring back Spencer shows that there were issues with the squad. Usually we wouldn’t want to throw in players who weren’t match fit but we had to and it caused injuries. - club are expecting to bring in players within a matter of weeks (I suspect players who are going to be out of contract and we may not announce them immediately.) - once initial business is done we will wait to see if any further players leave before we replace them. Valuations have to be met for players to leave. - Duff is reserving judgement on the character of the squad. When things are going badly everyone try’s to deflect blame and it may have been the case that AB was doing this. - Duff made a mistake leaving Barnsley and Swansea wasn’t a good fit. He’s had a break from football and ready to start. - When discussing recruitment at one point Cartwright mentioned bringing in 16 players. No one seemed to notice and ask if that is how many they are targeting. Might have been a throw away comment and not the actual intention.
