Managers often like former players, so……
Alfie May anyone?

I'm quite pleased. Good record at this level, and it's massively reassuring that we've acted quickly as we dragged our heels last summer and I think it impacted on preparations massively. To lose a manager Friday and replace him Monday is not like us. Hopefully he stays a while so we can shake our "northern Watford" tag. That is it a good record at this level and what happens if we do get promoted but somehow i don't think that will be happening.

Yet another very poor appointment i really can't see what people see in this fella at all. He's only had 1 bad spell as a manager. Derren Moore didn't have any

My knee jerk reaction is a good one
I'm impressed with the quick action by the club
I know Barnsley fans rated him, I'd like to hear from Swansea fans

I do have to chuckle about all the positivity around this appointment. This is the same manager that was linked with us in February and there was a complete meltdown on here, Twitter and Facebook. He would have been a steady appointment then and is a steady appointment now. Hopefully he lasts longer than three months. We're in a very different place as club now than we were in Feb. And a very different league

I wanted Duff after Moore was fired so texted my mate then. He said Duff was simply the wrong choice for them their style of play was being insisted upon and that clashed with Duff’s playing style. Duff also made a big error in downplaying their rivalry with Cardiff.

Not bad by any means. Good with Cheltenham and Barnsley who he joined in a crisis. Not exciting but a safe pair of hands who can hopefully do one better than he did with Barnsley. Also the main reason he didn't do well at Swansea is that he isn't a 98% possession control the game manager like Swansea are used to.

Can't complain about this one really, think he's a good appointment for where we are right now.
Now it's down to the recruitment, which is where I'm less optimistic, but we'll see how that unfolds.

“ his Barnsley side of 2022/23 had just a tad under 50% possession and a 67% pass completion rate, ranking them below the League One average on both counts.”
He’s gonna bloody love our midfielders.
To be honest I’m not a fan of 3-5-2, and that statement worries me in terms of the football we’re likely to see. Hopefully it’ll be more effective under Duff and we can see some results even if the football isn’t the best.

A sound appointment. Hopefully this puts us finally back on track.
We need a very good transfer window now and clear out the deadwood, but I expect our suits might be hoping that Duff can work miracles with our duffers.

Duff also made a big error in downplaying their rivalry with Cardiff. Swansea have an incredibly high self regard, don’t they? Their rise from the depths of the 4th tier to Premier League with a League Cup thrown in was entirely admirable, but when the passing game is over done it just gets mind numbingly boring. That’s where they have been for a while now.

Very pleased with this appointment. I read that he likes to have his teams set up in a counterattacking mode, but I'm hoping his experience at Swansea means he does possession football, too. Maybe a good combination of both in League 1, depending on the opponents.
His last match at Swansea was against us, funnily enough, where Swansea had 77% of the ball, 19 corners(!) and 22 shots(!), but only equalised in the last minute against us. I'll venture to suggest most teams in League 1 will set up in a similar fashion as we did against Swansea back in December under Darren Moore. So we might just have to get to know what it's like to have the ball for long periods. We'll see, of course.
Like the way he comes across, expresses himself very well and he's got a good track record. Well done Town for making this happen so quickly - and good to see that working on next season is starting almost immediately.

I consider this to be a fabulous appointment, and he will lead us back to the Championship.
or
Terrible man, we will rue his appointment. Can only see failure ahead.
I will await to post again (with appropriate deletions) at some future point, wherein, I can smugly point out how perspicacious I've been.
Happy to wait and see which statement is true.
