Yet another very poor appointment i really can't see what people see in this fella at all. He's only had 1 bad spell as a manager. This could be his 2nd.

I have to say, i am not impressed with with our new choice of manager at all. All these statistics and "well he did well for them" remember this is Huddersfield Town. On that basis, we need Ali Bongo or Paul Daniels... or Jesus Christ

I consider this to be a fabulous appointment, and he will lead us back to the Championship. or Terrible man, we will rue his appointment. Can only see failure ahead. I will await to post again (with appropriate deletions) at some future point, wherein, I can smugly point out how perspicacious I've been. Happy to wait and see which statement is true. I'll be surprised if it's not the first one. Well chuffed with Duff!

Yet another very poor appointment i really can't see what people see in this fella at all. Alright, if he's really such a 'very poor appointment' (personally I think that's absolute bollocks) who would you have as our manager, realistically, as a newly relegated L1 club?

So you only want a manager who has done well for Huddersfield Town? How can you have a manager who HAS done well for Huddersfield Town. I was being sarcastic i mean lets face it you have to have everyone pulling in the right direction while the club needs a big clear out.

“ his Barnsley side of 2022/23 had just a tad under 50% possession and a 67% pass completion rate, ranking them below the League One average on both counts.” He’s gonna bloody love our midfielders. To be honest I’m not a fan of 3-5-2, and that statement worries me in terms of the football we’re likely to see. Hopefully it’ll be more effective under Duff and we can see some results even if the football isn’t the best. Our possession last season was 40%, so 49% is a massive 20% improvement...

I don't know how it will work out, nobody does if they are honest. Obviously hope he is successful and I am glad it didn't drag out for a month. Need to make the most of the summer.

so, will Duff give all the current squad a chance...ignoring all the tales that have been floating about ? How long will it take him to realise he needs a bunch of new talent...will KN give him the dosh to build his own squad...

Next season along with Birmingham we will be the team everyone want's to beat so depending on who stays this could be a very big rebuilding job that might take 4/5 seasons

Who gives a shite about how much possession we're going to have? Not that long ago, no-one ever mentioned possession, it didn't matter.

Sigh of relief, good to get a manager with a decent track record and experience at this level. We now need to equip him with everything he needs, and let him determine the style of football he wants, which I'm confident won't be possession based, so should be good to watch.
We must give him the whole season, definitely no kowtowing to a vociferous minority of fans who will bay for blood on Twatter if we're not in the top 6 every single week.

I said this on the Cartwright thread a while ago. I'm not a fan of agents or ex agents involved in football clubs. It always makes me question if they or someone they're connected with gets some sort of benefit from a transfer or appointment Billing and Toffolo were Beswicks clients.

As good as we could realistically expect now we're in League One. The thing with managerial appointments is you just never know how it is going to go. Look at AB, absolutely useless despite a good CV.
I just hope we are still planning on getting rid of the idiots in the squad and not giving them another chance

No good having 75% possession if 80% of that 75% is in your own defensive third pissing about with it. It's not about how much possession you have, it's what you do with it.

It is a very good appointment. I expect it will be a very good 24-25 for Huddersfield Town.

Another 3 year deal - that’s one helluva compensation package again don’t think we ever learn in this regard. Solid appointment and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with the squad

Sensible appointment. He was a manager on the up until his spell at Swansea, and I wouldn't read anything in to that. Swansea have hardly pulled up any trees since with a limited squad. More or less as you were with them, just now they play tippy-tappy stuff the fans like rather than getting exactly the same results without that style.
He certainly knows the league. Hopefully he'll bring a midfield with him!

Can I just point out that Dan also started the AB thread.
Has anyone checked to see if he also started the Martin from Wakefield thread? 😉

Whilst Duff wouldn’t have been my personal choice, the club have acted very quickly and he does have previous success at League 1 level so that’s one important box ticked.
