“ his Barnsley side of 2022/23 had just a tad under 50% possession and a 67% pass completion rate, ranking them below the League One average on both counts.” He’s gonna bloody love our midfielders. To be honest I’m not a fan of 3-5-2, and that statement worries me in terms of the football we’re likely to see. Hopefully it’ll be more effective under Duff and we can see some results even if the football isn’t the best. Our possession last season was 40%, so 49% is a massive 20% improvement... Waiting for a maths expert to "correct" this!

Great that this has been done early. It gives him time to really assess what needs to be done. He has time to make a plan and we haven’t had one of those in a longtime.
I hoped he is backed in the transfer window - I’ve no reason to think he won’t be.
I’m not interested in his spell at Swansea - they are still where there are.
Good luck to him.
Just imagine a season where we come on here after another win rather than another bore draw or a loss. How good would that be.

Hopefully had a couple of holidays while he's being out of work & now he can crack on with the job in hand, around 90 days to the start of the new season & about halfway to pre season starting on Mon July 1st (?).......MD needs to have everything in place for kick off on Saturday 10th August, let's see what he delivers before passing judgement..UTT.

Sigh of relief, good to get a manager with a decent track record and experience at this level. We now need to equip him with everything he needs, and let him determine the style of football he wants, which I'm confident won't be possession based, so should be good to watch. We must give him the whole season. We could very well be Up The Duff. Indeed, and hopefully it's a rebirth to greater things.

For too long our clubs been about fans divided and wanting constant changes.
We now have an owner willing to invest this season, a manager who knows the league and cheap season tickets.
It's time for us all to rally around the boys and get behind this great club once again! UTT

I said this on the Cartwright thread a while ago. I'm not a fan of agents or ex agents involved in football clubs. It always makes me question if they or someone they're connected with gets some sort of benefit from a transfer or appointment Billing and Toffolo were Beswicks clients. And ?

Good lower division manager and that is where Town are now, so makes sense in a way. Good luck to him

Excited by this, wanted him in January (although I was excited at that point by Andre's appointment also).
Solid 3-5-2 no fooking about football that gets wins. Good timing too.
I more than reckon he'll have kept an eye on us since his interview in January, and he'll be in a decent position to put his plans into action.
Plenty of time to sort the wheat from the chaff and get some proper targeted recruitment done.

A wee bit underwhelming but entirely a reflection of where we are now, and of course I’d be very happy to eat my words. I watched his Barnsley side from the other year and was impressed - reminded me of Town under Corberan.
The most important thing now is that the club facilitate a clear out and get some hungry, talented footballers through the door.

I'm wondering if his appointment might be a good thing for Brodie Spencer. Ex Northern Ireland International who can no doubt help him with his international aspirations.

Not the sexiest of appointments, but I have it on good authority that Natalie Portman turned it down, and Christoper Schindler didn't feel ready to take the step into management.
Wish him all the luck in the World, regardless.

Anyone any idea who his Backroom team will be? Duff has previously had former Town striker Martin Paterson as an assistant at Barnsley and Swansea, but he's now the Burton manager so he'll need someone new...
