Great diary.
Justasmithers, my daughter just turned 16 in July and I'm fully with you on this! It's hard to deal with emotionally, glad to hear I'm not the only one struggling through.
We are truly in great hands I feel, with people who are buying into both the town, and club.
We are always guilty of wanting everything yesterday, but the stadium is a neglected project, which is being brought back to life.
Btw new fish and chip shop recommendation... Lepton Fisheries on the Wakefield road. It's always been a chippy (in my life time), but the current owners are dishing up the best we've ever had.Cooked in beef dripping, just superb.
Sorry for thread creep.

From the ways you and Mr Nagle have become involved personally, that you’re proud to show the hard work that you’ve put into Huddersfield Town to your families. it feels less like you’re here directly for the business opportunity, but that your hearts are genuinely in it, that you are both custodians who stand shoulder to shoulder with the fans, the players, and the people who continue to work at the club.
I can’t tell you how exciting that feels to me.

I can’t tell you how exciting that feels to me. It’s in our blood now, I assure you. I saw my son, who plays first team football this year for his high school, look out at the pitch in wonder. My little girl wore a Town shirt to school yesterday. My wife said “I can drink beer and sing with everyone? Where do I sign up???” It meant everything to me to show them what Daddy’s been doing in this foreign town halfway across the globe, and why I’m up every morning at 3 am talking to people with “funny accents”. It’s in the blood. I live every week for Saturday’s match. Truthfully, sometimes I wish it wasn’t, and that I could go back, but just when that feeling creeps in it’s overwhelmed by a sense of pride and joy for the future, which is going to be amazing. I’m new, and I have a lot to learn, but you’ve got me. I’m hooked. And for his part, I assure you the Chairman feels the same.

I started watching the odd set of highlights when Aaron Mooy joined Huddersfield in 2016, before long I was wide awake in Sydney watching games at 2am 🤦♂️ if I couldn’t get the game on tv, I’d listen into a stream of Oggy’s commentary. Before long I was hooked. Here I am, 8 years later and still watching us in League One 😁 I know the feeling of “Why am I doing this to myself?” 😂 Signed up for the International match pass for the season, and frothing over our season ahead. Pass onto Kev a big thank you from Australia, I’m glad to see an owner as fanatical as I am about Town even without the connections of Huddersfield. While you are there thanking him, I know he’s doing his best to bring in a striker but can you see if he can find it within himself to also get us a quick left footed centre back, asking for all my Huddersfield friends 😉

Huddersfield Town gets in your blood.
Our eldest grandson will be 7 in October. He’s football mad and has already been to 40 games, the biggest being Sutton United and mostly at good little clubs like Leatherhead and Carshalton. Until this coming Saturday….. his first ever Town game. He can’t wait.
He has two England shirts, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Miami, Dorking Wanderers, two Sutton, two Town shirts. He’ll be wearing his new Town shirt on Saturday I’m sure. The signs are there that a little boy from Epsom will choose Huddersfield Town as his club. What have I done?

This is a good one, some good positive insight and hints at whats coming. - How does Kevin know what state the women's "bathrooms" (toilets) are in?! 😊🤔 - Regarding the mens toilets (in the South Stand), I've often wondered why, the flow for the way IN is pretty much 95% of people 'turning to the left', and then coming out the other side. Except, the bin for the paper towels is near the IN entry, rather than on the way out, so there ends up being a pile of discarded paper on the floor every game? Surely it would be be a quick and low cost win to just swap the bin position, or, add a second bin?

When it comes to kids (daughters) moving on with their lives, I can empathise. I'm sitting in Huddersfield whilst she's at college and playing football in the States.

What is evident from the diaries is that there is a real determination to learn about the culture of the club, the DNA of the fans if you like, and use this positively. The biggest compliment I can pay the Mr Nagle/Dave diaries is that there is no hint of cynicism at all. The openness, humour and warmth are heartening.
Communication is very welcome and history tells us that, generally, the more communication from the club the more joined up we all are. The interview with JE on radio Leeds was equally welcome.
There will be tougher times in the season ahead and the comms will be as, if not more, important then too.
We work best when everyone is on the same page, this certainly helps to achieve that.

I think we are genuinely fortunate to have an owner who not only seems to be invested heart and soul but also has a real strategic mind. He is no fool and the rebrand is already taking effect.
I have this funny feeling of optimism that I'm not used to!

Hey Dave! could you find out how far on the Stadium purchase is? Not much mention of it in the diary,or is that too sensitive at this stage?

Justasmithers seems to think that he is now an honorary Yorkshireman. However, he has yet to pass the ‘liking mushy peas with his fish and chips’ test or even ‘liking bits with his fish and chips’. He is nearly there though!
I do love the informal and laid-back nature of the diaries and long may they continue. We are very lucky to have such an open, enthusiastic owner. UTT

Yeah these are really good and well done to the pair of them for doing them.
Think theres a general sense of optimism about HTFC just now which must be extremely rare for a club thats just been relegated.

Even if you were born in Yorkshire and have to move away for 20 years through no fault of your own it takes ages to regain Yorkshireman status 😂 Takes even longer if like me you don’t like black pudding 😂

Thankfully I never lost the teacake definition living abroad, Yorkshire mam n dad so always remained teacake, despite some of those around us calling them baps or rolls, had the same result as the poster above, asked for a bacon butty in a teacake, came in a currant teacake, still ate it mind, not wasting scran, another sign of being a Yorkshireman 😂 Took me about a year to even SOUND Yorkshire after we came back, sis still has what some up here call a posh accent, 31 years after coming back people still think she’s a southerner 😂

I'm all up for pre and post match shagging as part of the matchday experience That bit made me laugh too, Yank mate was always saying shagging when he meant retrieving, even after we told him what it meant to us Brits He always got a laugh when he referred to his fanny or fanny pack too 😂
