I recall going to the Bescot for a league game years ago, don't think the ground had been open all that long. Think we lost and it took an age to get away from the retail park or whatever its in then there was some bridge closure meaning more delays. Soulless ground, said I'd never go back and still haven't. I was just pondering about my visit to Fellows Park..it was their last season there before moving to the Bescot ..1990 I believe..I've no idea why I went, stood on a big empty touchline terrace, weeds growing through the concrete , holes in the roof...bit's of rubble scattered around...can't recall if we won or lost...I've been to the Bescot I think but it might have been Northamptons new ground..Sixfields ? are they very similar...

I can remember a trip to the old ground, went on a “football special”. No idea of the year (early 80’s)?
The only thing I can remember about that day was stood on the platform waiting for the train home and the police were getting a little agitated because there was a long train coming through, full of Wolves fans coming back from Villa.

Could be Terry Austin’s debut when he scored twice in a 2-2 draw (the start of a stellar career for Town’s legendary str…..maybe not!). 1982. Also the scene of my only significant brush with football hooliganism which I miraculously escaped by walking in to a car park.

I think Bristol Rovers at Eastville was the longest journey I can remember.

Drift away mate, I love these anecdotes from yesteryear. Makes up for missing it while living abroad and down south.

I remember going to Wolves in the F A Cup 3 round on the special, we got held up at Stalybribge for hours because of the Chickens special coming back from Telford broken down in the Standedge Tunnel at Marsden.

Saw The Wonderstuff at the Bescot. Did they win? And what colour kit did they wear? Golden Green?

We won 3-2 on last visit to their old ground. Old ground? Have they got a new one? Almost 35 years old now is Bescot, one journey to Fellows park was called off as we pulled up in a snowstorm an hour to kick off.......Both sets of fans united in snowballing the stewards/coppers (wasn't their fault). Still no details of next weeks game yet?

Only 9 tickets left for Walsall guessing a new allocation will be given , not bad to say only been on sale for a couple of days , just short of a 1000 tickets sold of initial allocation, for a 2nd eound tie of a nothing cup 2 hours away.

If you go on to the Town site they don't appear to buy, which I find strange, Rotherham is there, which I'm surprised hasn't sold out yet but no Walsall. Not that I'm looking to buy, just found it odd.

I went to a mid week game a few years ago. Think we lost (Rammel?), then the following Saturday Beech scored at Maine Road. Odd that Walsall was more expensive than City.

Was it a tuesday night game which we lost 2-0, i went to that one if it was, walsall were poor that seaosn while we were pretty good, so naturally we lost.

They were relegated at the end of season, we could only manage a 1-1 draw at home with them too. Edit: just checked, before the 2 nil loss at Walsall we had won 6 consecutive games, then won the following 3 after the defeat too, which makes the result stand out as being bizarre.
