Mick Buxton was the last Town manager to win his opening 3 league matches 45 years ago (on Sun), the 1st was a 2-0 victory over Aldershot at home followed by a 2-1 midweek win at Wigan (mare to find) & then on Sat 25th Aug 1979 we beat Doncaster 3-0 at home.......With the 1st two results identical to MB under MD then its got to be 3-0 this week, say it quietly but we won the title too that season. UTT. I hardly missed a game home and away that season and even arranged my wedding for the Sat after we played away and won at Stockport on Friday night to go top. I remember six of us in the back of the wedding car waiting for the results on the radio while everyone else was at the wedding dinner, no wonder the marriage did not last long but here I am 45 years later still in love with Town I cannot remember which game or who we played early that season but it was the first game we lost away but my mate had just come back after 6 months in Aussie and we had been raving to him how good town were and they played crap and lost in his first game back in England. Only memorable moment at that game for when when Alan Starling had one of their players on the floor by his neck with his fist drawn back to punch him but stopped himself in time, now it would have been a red anyway

How many Huddersfield fans approx I’d say about 7000+ Took my future wife to this game, the wall collapsed just in front of us both.

Be great to win, but no counting chickens of course. Would be even nicer to get an early goal to settle the usual nerves. Saturday wasn’t the walk in the park some might have thought. Had we been more positive the heart in the mouth moment at the start of the second half wouldn’t have felt as worrying as it did. Need to be on the front foot and taking advantage if they’re feeling a bit frail… UTT!!! I expect they'll all be in Manningham on Saturday. Big game against Bromley.

When’s the presser? Usually a Thursday isn’t it before a Saturday game?

Darlington too if I recall correctly - twice in quick succession - once in the league and then the FAC round 1? Then a defeat at The Shay on Boxing Day - we only lost 1 game after that hn( Pompey away). December wobble arrested by the signing of Kindon. Went to most of the away games that season including those two whilst serving in the Army based down south.

I would say 50/50 I was behind the goal (opposite bus depot) so had a decent view of the whole ground.......I remember Halifax had to play in the FAC on Xmas eve (2nd replay) & had around 7/8k for that game.

That was the Boxing Day or NY day game? Lincoln unbeaten at home all season until we rolled into Town? 2-1 if it’s the game I recall. Was a great result when you consider what a pain Lincoln is to get to…

Shrewsbury fans seem confident. A few highlights: - So my heart hopes for a point as we need one for team confidence and the fans , my head says we will lose 4-0 - We're ****ed. Honestly not sure where points are coming from. - Prediction: 3-0 defeat - My prediction is Huddersfield Town 6-0 Shrewsbury Town blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/107497/huddersfield-match-thread

They look genuinely dreadful. I expect that someone will give them an absolute hiding this season. I just looked up their record defeat and it's 8-1. I would not be surprised to see that broken at some stage before May. If not by us, then by someone.

Town getting a penalty at home? Don't be so ridiculous. Though just you watch, I'm not there as I'm on honeymoon, so we likely will get one, and then we won't see another penalty at home for the rest of the season.
Anyway, part of me wants to thrash them, as we rarely thrash teams (when was the last time we won a league game scoring 5 or more goals?), but part of me wants a more tedious 1 goal win so I don't feel so bad about missing out on seeing us thrash someone

It was pay on the day, the City cup game after Town was all ticket (over 14k), whose to say you're not correct about the 7000+.......Both crowds looked very similar.

I can see another frustrating game . I don’t think Town are capable just yet of giving a team a “ good hiding” . We should win 2-0 but cannot afford another second half like last week. UTT

UTT I tend to agree with this. Think we’ll win 2 or 3 nil, but I can still see us struggling with finishing. Oh well 🤷♂️

Just had a quick peek on their forum and they don't even have a thread for our game yet #tinpot 😉 Sorry. I hadn't realised it was my job. Sorted it now.
